Windgale protested. "But Treestar, the Clan would be devastated if anything happened to you! We almost lost you once (He's sick right) and we don't want that to happen again..."


(I just don't want her to cave in right away since she's supposed to be a stubborn cat )

Rippedtail felt the presence of Flashpaw. "Windgale," she meowed, "you should listen to Treestar. He is a leader, he had 9 lives and I'm sure isn't on his last one."

Windgale fell silent. She knew her clanmate was right. "You're right, Rippedtail." Windgale finally meowed dipping her head towards the white striped she cat. "Treestar, I'm sorry..." She stepped back, making room for the EarthClan leader to go through.

"All is forgiven, Windgale. You spoke with great bravery." Treestar purred, nodding as he passed the she-cat.

As the small patrol of cats padded on, the Earthclan leader gave a sudden hiss as a splashing noise came. "This pathway is wet! Stick to the right and your paws won't get as wet." he called back to the cats behind him. "Rippedtail, keep Flashpaw close to the right wall. The puddle gets deep, and I don't want him falling in." Treestar added, hoping the apprentice wouldn't protest about being fussed over.

Windgale's ears flattened at the thought of getting her paws wet. She wasn't fond of water. Ahead, she could see Rippedtail's white stripe moving and bumping into another furry something just ahead of her... Probably Flashpaw, she thought. Soft squeaking noises slowly got louder as the cats padded on

(thought maybe they run into some bats- maybe they are intelligent vampire ones? If not just pretend the squeaking was just something they couldn't see)

Rippedtail pressed Flashpaw closer to the right wall. "You stay dry," she purred. "I'll get my paws wet, I don't mind." Rippedtail liked caring for Flashpaw. She wanted her own apprentice. Rippedtail's ears picked, she heard a faint squeaking sound. "Treestar, what is that sound?"

Windgale shivered. The sound was somehow..ominous, as if something terrible would happen. She glanced around tentatively, hoping the sound was just a figment of her imagination. Something fluttered by, and Windgale hissed in surprise as the fluttering muttered something in a vile language...

cat.....fresshhhh....

Rippedtail froze. She pressed Flashpaw closer to the wall. "Those are bats aren't they," she meowed. She had never seen a bat before, but she heard the screech at night.

Windgale nodded, relaxing a little. "If these are bats, then they're harmless! Whew..." Then the voice came again, freezing Windgale's blood...

bloooooood....heeheee.......

Rippedtail felt Windgale stiffen. "What is it?" she asked.

Windgale shuddered. "I've only heard stories," She whispered. "About.." she gulped, "About bats that are highly intelligent a-and drink blood...Vamp-p-pire bats!"

The noise grew louder and though no cat could understand what was being said, it was obvious that the noise was the sound of chanting. Soon, whirring wings filled the air, headed towards them...

Forestfur lowered his head and checked to make sure that Flashpaw was safe.

OOC: Sorry you guys, went off to Pennsylvania and didn't really give a official heads up about it. ^-^"



IC: Treestar's ears pricked as the squeaks seemed to form words. If the noise turned his blood cold, what he thought he heard turned it to ice. Half knowing what was coming, something told the Earthclan leader to find a new way, and fast. But possibly just as sudden as his panic, the narrow passageway began to widen quickly into a small, hollow bubble in the tunnel. With a hiss of pain, Treestar felt his paw smack into what pelt like a small pillar, jutting up from the ground. "Keep close to the wall, everyone. This room has odd pillars that jut from the ground, and I don't want to loose a cat to what ever may be here..." The Earthclan leader's voice had a trace of panic as his head whipped around to face the sound of fluttering wings. No birds could live down here! Could it be...bats? Treestar questioned, turning to glance at Rippedtail's white stripe. It seemed lighter then normal, and he was starting to see what looked like the outline of his old apprentice and Flashpaw beside her. "A small crack in the stone ceiling is giving the slightest light here. Who agrees a break here may help?" Treestar asked, while gingerly carrying his soar paw above the ground.

A flurry of wings descended from the cave ceiling, surrounding the cats. Windgale yelped as teeth sank through her long fur and into her skin. The light Treestar had mentioned was now growing dim as the bats massed around them. Windgale snarled as more bats sank their teeth into her tail and paws. "Treestar!!" She yowled, " The break maybe our only way out of here!" She panted, fighting tooth and claw to rid herself of the bats. As soon as she killed one, three more took it's place...

Rippedtail covered Flashpaw's body with her own. The little bat teeth sank frequently into her flesh. "It will be a tight squeeze, but this maybe our only chance," she shouted over the high pitched squeaking. "Let's get Flashpaw out first. He will fit without a doubt. Windgale and myself will probably fit too, but Forestfur and Treestar... it might be a squeeze."

Treestar whipped his tail, and felt a small weight be lost from it. This was horrible! The small bats bit at every open area, and focaused more on his haunches if they couldn't get for his neck. Instantly the Earthclan leader began to call orders, "Windgale, Forestfur, clear a path to the wall!" threw the swarm of bats, Treestar turned to what he thought was Rippedtail and Flashpaw. "Rippedtail, help Flashpaw climb up the wall first. Once his tail is our of sight, you head up too." the Earthclan leader paused to rip off a bat from his flank. It was replaced by two more. "Forestfur and Windgale, assist me in covering Rippedtail and Flashpaw's escape! I'll be the last one out after Forestfur."

Windgale yowled that she had heard and began forcing a way through the bats. She pushed Rippedtail and Flashpaw between her and Forestfur and protected them from the bats. "Hole in sight!" She yowled as the light grew stronger. She clawed at the bats , blinking blood from her eye. She hoped the others were okay... "Rippedtail, Flashfur, are you okay so far? We're almost there!" she cried, shoving through the mass of bloodsuckers..

Rippedtail reached the area just below the opening. She picked up Flashpaw with her scruff. She lifted him gently toward the top. Like a little fish Flashpaw fit perfectly. When he was clear of the opening, Rippedtail bunched her hind quarters, and leapt threw the opening. She checked Flashpaw for any latching bats, and then checked herself. "All clear!" she shouted into the black hole.

Windgale heard Rippedtail's cry. "They're out!" She called to Treestar and Forestfur. There was no time for arguments- she pushed her way through the mass of bats and dove through the hole...

Treestar felt a bit releived when the two she-cats and apprentice made it threw. His attention quickly snapped to his son. "Forestfur! Out now, that is an order!" the leader hissed, shouldering the warrior closer to the hole.
