Bored kit

Shiningkit sat outside the FireClan nursery, watching the warriors pad in and out of the camp entrance. Sunlight made her short white fur almost shine, hence her name sake. Slowly, as if she were already an elder, Shiningkit stood, took a deep breath, and yowled so loudly that some of the warriors stared at her in alarmm "I'M BORED!!!!"

Letting a sudden mrrow or laughter burst out, Shadowfire rose from his resting spot, and slowly padded out of the shadows. With his pale green eyes sparkling with amusement, the Fireclan tom stalked to the small kit. His head was down as he walked, and to any random cat, it would look like Shadowfire was about to stalk up and smack the young kit as if she was a annoying rat. But, to any cat that knew Shadowfire well, they would only chuckle and know the kit wouldn't be bored for long.

"Bored you say?" Shadowfire purred with a hint of mischief in his voice. Sitting strait and giving a wide yawn, the Fireclan tom used one outstretched paw to pull Shiningkit closer to him. Before she could give a squeak, he leaned down and began to whisper into her ear. "Shush little one.....now.....look at that bush..." Shadowfire broke off, and used his tail to point at a oddly shaped bush. "What does it look like to you?" With those words, Shadowfire leaned back, and awaited the kit to use her imagination.

Chuckling to himself, the Fireclan tom noticed that he was now getting a few looks. But after a bit the warriors understood what he was doing, and simply smirked.

Shiningkit thingyeded her head one way, and then the other. She stalked toward the bush and examined it from all angles. She walked back over to the FireClan warrior and shook her head. "I can't see anything in the bush." She glared at the bush, as if it was it's fault she couldn't imagine it to be anything other than a pile of sticks and leaves.

Firemist walked over to Shadowfire. "What are you doing to this kit?" she whispered quietly to Shadowfire.[/size]

"Allowing her mother to rest, and the other warriors to work in peace." Shadowfire whispered back to Firemist, not surprised his actions had drawn her to investigate.

The Fireclan tom lowered to Shiningkit's hight, and gazed into the waving leaves. As the wind shifted, it seemed like they formed a moving picture. Shadowfire called it out as he saw it, "In the movement of the leaves, I see a leader standing above his clan on a large stone. The cats below are cheering his name..." Coming back from this little dream world, Shadowfire set his pale green eyes on the young kit once more. To avoid any confusion, the Fireclan tom was ready to explain. "Sometimes if you look carefully enough, and watch the movements of the leaves as they blow in the wind, they seem to form a picture. Plus, the bush kind of is shaped like a fish chasing a rabbit from this angle" Shadowfire finished, and thingyed his head to one side and narrowed his eyes playfully at the bush.

"What do you see, Firemist?" Shadowfire asked, not wanting the she-cat to feel left out and leave. The tom always liked her around for some reason.

Shiningkit's whiskers twitched in concentration. She turned her head. "I suppose if you look at it from this angle, it sort of looks like a fox...Wait....I don't think that's the bush..." She backed up. Indeed, a fox was pushing it's way into the clearing.

Firemist hissed quietly. She dropped into a fighting stance. She flicked her ears for Shadowfire to do the same. Why would a fox be so stupid as to come into the nursery in the middle of the day? Then she saw the fox. It was gaunt and thin. Its fur was matted and torn, as if it had just been in a fight. Kill was on its coat, but it smelled like it hadn't eaten in weeks. The other foxes must be bulling the kill off this fox, Firemist thought. The fox was small, but looked like one does when hungry. Possessed. That fox was intent on having Shiningkit for its food. Unless Firemist had anything to say about it. She would kill the fox if she had to, but she needed help. Once again she glanced at Shadowfire.

Shiningkit gulped and backed up behind Firemist. Something smelled wrong with the fox. It was hungry. She could tell by the look in it's eyes as it caught sight of her. This fox wanted to eat her. Shiningkit's heart was pounding so loud, she thought the other cats could hear it.

OOC: Random fox attack!


As though he had been kicked by a twoleg, Shadowfire felt the stench of the hungry fox hit him. A fox? Here? It surely wasn't that mouse-brained as to come into a nursery during the day! Shadowfire gave a disgusted snort as he gazed into its hungry eyes. Instinctively, the tom fluffed up and began to snarl at the hungry creature, baring tooth and claw. The tom's claws began to flex with anticipation as he grew aware of Firemist glancing to him. With a flick of his fluffed up tail, Shadowfire launched forward in a dead sprint, and slammed a paw down across the surprised creature's nose. Small drops of blood were flicked onto his already reddish-brown pelt, as the starved fox whipped its head around and snapped.

Shadowfire felt as though everything went in slow motion as the creature's fangs closed onto each other inches away from his nose. Flattening his ears, the Fireclan tom focused his pale green vision on the fox's desperate yellow eyes. But, just as the tom was ducking under the first attempt from the fox, something under his back-right paw slid out, and made the tom fall awkwardly onto his shoulder with a hard thud.

It didn't take long for the fox to react to this. With clearly only blind hunger leading it on, the bony creature jumped on Shadowfire's back, and began to snap randomly for the tom's neck. Starclan help me! the Fireclan tom felt the hare on his spine stand on end as the hot breath of the fox blew down upon it. Every little wiggle and dodge saved him the pain of teeth in the spine, but how long could he keep this up? The stink of crowfood from the fox, and the fear scent from Shiningkit, and possibly a bit from himself, was disorientating him.

In a half-desperate attempt, Shadowfire struggled with the weight of the fox upon him, and clamped his teeth firmly over one of its legs.



OOC: Hey, Spottedshadow, how do you think we will launch off the Firemist vs Foxcloud thing? I was thinking that Moonlitpaw would kind of be the first stick to feed the fire seeing as Foxcloud doesn't like the fact that Firemist gets to spend more time with her. (Being her mentor and all) But Lakeripple hasn't been on in a while....

Firemist saw that Shadowfire was trapped. She launched herself as fast and hard as she could into the fox's flank. She careened into her target, with teeth and claws digging. The fox fell off Shadowfire and hit the ground. Hard. Firemist leapt back, grey eyes gazing back and forth between Shadowfire and the fox.

Are Firemist and Shadowfire ever gonna, you know, get together. OoOh!

Maybe that could be another to stick to the fire of the Firemist v. Foxcloud!!!!

Shiningkit took that time to run. But not away. She darted behind the fox as fast as her little legs could carry her. She jumped at the fox and bit down at the base of it's filthy tail. Hard.

"Shiningkit!" Firemist yelled, "Get out of here!" Firemist leapt at the fox, and thought Kits they don't learn until they are apprentices.

OOC: They can get together anytime you want. I'm going to make Shadowfire start to get a little kitty-crush if you want.



IC: With the weight of the fox now absent, Shadowfire stiffly jumped to his paws in time to see Shiningkit attach to the creature's tail. Firemist was already leaping for the fox possibly in a attempt to distract it.

With a sudden burst of energy, the Fireclan tom pelted to the fox's tail, and attempted to tug Shiningkit off. "Let go Shiningkit! The day for you to fight will come sooner then you think, but it is not today!" Shadowfire pleaded threw his mouthful of fur. The let a flicker of admiration go threw his pale green eyes as he gazed at the kit. She has spunk. I'll give her that.


As the morning patrol began to break apart, Foxcloud gave a wide yawn, and took a glance around the camp. Her heart sank at the absents of Moonlitpaw. Must be out with Firemi-...Foxcloud's thoughts broke off as the sounds of a fight reached her ears. With sudden alarm, the deputy whipped her head around, and raced to the nursery. "I'm gone for a heartbeat and this place goes to Demonclan!" the she-cat growled under her breath.

Foxcloud scanned the situation before her. Two warriors defending the kit seemed reasonable. With only a few moments of planning, the Fireclan she-cat raced forward and ducked under the creature's legs, and slammed the top of her head into its throat; winding it. The fox stumbled back a bit, and noticed the warrior and kit at its tail quickly. "How could you let this happen!?" Foxcloud snapped to Firemist before throwing herself back into battle.



OOC: I hope it is okay that I made Foxcloud come in. We have to place the wood before the first match is lit, or it will have nothing to burn. ^^
Hey, do you know Lakeripple in real life? If so, you could tell her we miss her and want her back. 'Cuz I think the absents of Moonlitpaw is going to put a big dent in my plan on how the Firemist vs. Foxcloud thing could kick off. <_<"

Firemist leapt on the foxes back. She bite on the fox's ear. "It's not my fault the kit attacked the fox without order."

Shiningkit let got of the fox and dropped to the ground. Despite the situation, she felt a bit...she didn't know how to describe it. Nervous, guilty, angry? Probably a mixture of all three. "I just wanted to help my Clan." She mumbled, slinking away to the side lines to watch the warriors defend her. She hated being so helpless. She absolutely hated it!

"It will be your day soon," Firemist meowed as the fox left the nursery. It now knew that it had to get food elsewhere.

Shiningkit glared up at the warrior and clawed the ground impatiently. "And when will that be!? When will I be able to help my Clan, to prove to my Clanmates my half-Clan blood doesn't affect my loyalty!?" She hissed and paced in a circle. "I hate feeling to useless all the time! I hate the looks I get when ever I take prey from the freshkill pile! It's like I'm worthless, that I'm just a waste of prey and space!"

"When you are six moons old," Firemist told the angry kit. "No kit is ever a waste of prey, or space. They keep the clan alive."

Shiningkit growled, but said no more. She instead stalked away, toward the freshkill pile.
