The Raven and the Wind

(we'll pretend that they're in the camp, it's easier to do that and then have the rest of it occur in the Forestry. ^^ if that's okay with you I mean!)

Windgale looked around for Ravenfeather, seemingly calm and still, but on the inside, she was anything but. She'd thought about him all night.....She'd even woke up several times in the night, thinking he was right there beside her. But then she'd remembered where she was- the medicine cat's den, with no cat next to her and the only sounds belonging to the soft breathing of the medicine cat. She headed towards the freshkill pile, plucking a juicy mouse for herself. She hesitated. What did Ravenfeather like? She looked amid the pile, and found a plump sparrow. She hesitated again, and then grabbed it. He could always return it to the pile if he didn't like it...She returned to her shady spot, though the morning was still cool- a move born of habit from her days spend hiding from her clanmates. Now though...She didn't want to be alone. She mourned all her lost days, and vowed to remedy that. With Ravenfeather first, and every other cat after....She closed her azure eyes for a moment....

RAVENFEATHER

Ravenfeather quickly padded out of the warriors den. To say that he had a good night's sleep would be a lie. He kept fidgeting in his sleep all night long, wondering and hoping that Windgale was okay. Sure, they had made it back to camp safely, but he couldn't help worrying if any of her fox bites got infected, or if her paw was more damaged than it actually looked. He did a quick scan of the clearing, hoping that she was there now. He almost missed her, he found her in a shady spot at the edge of the clearing. She had to pieces of fresh-kill with her. His heart warmed at how considerate she was. He eagerly trotted over to her, noticing how she seemed lost in her thoughts. He gently prodded her flank with his paw and asked, Is this spot taken?

"Ravenfeather!" She exclaimed. She purred, "And no, unless you consider it taken by you." She meowed happily. "I wasn't sure what you preferred, so... I brought you a sparrow." She looked apologetic. After a moment of scuffling her paws, she spoke. "I didn't sleep very well last night. Oh, my paw's fine." she added hastily. "But..." She looked around, and gave him a wry look. "Is it just me, or does it seem like all ears are turned this way?"

RAVENFEATHER

Ravenfeather was pleased that Windgale was so happy to see him, he was happy to see her too. I'll take my spot then, and a sparrow is fine. I'm not really to picky on what I eat. Ravenfeather happly settled into his spot as he listened to Windgale jabber on. He was about to dig into his prey until Windgale's comment about their Clanmates caught him off guard. He gave an inconspicuous glance around the clearing, and sure enough, half, if not all of their Clanmates present were staring at them. And if they weren't staring, it seemed like they had their ears angled this way to catch any part of the conversation. Ravenfeather almost rolled his eyes, but didn't, instead he gave a dismissive flick of his tail. Yes, it does seem that way. But ignore them, they're acting like they haven't seen two cats eat together before. Then Ravenfeather remembered Windgale's earlier statements. I'm glad that your paw is better. But how come you didn't sleep well? Did you have nightmares? Ravenfeather gazed at Windgale with concern in his eyes, awaiting her answer.

The gray tabby shook her head emphatically. "No, far from it." She felt heat rising in her cheeks, but she refused to be a coward this time. "It was actually nice...I kept thinking...of you." She meowed, the last words softer, with more happiness and love put into them. "You were in all my dreams, and then I couldn't sleep because I kept thinking you were there..." She smiled to herself as she recalled her night...

RAVENFEATHER

Ravenfeather felt a glow of happiness at Windgale's confession. He was in her dreams! And even if he wasn't in her dreams, it seemed like he was on her mind regardless. Does she feel the same way that she does? Hopefully he would find out today when they went hunting. He stretched forward and put his nose against her cheek, breathing in her sweet scent. I thought about you all night too. Well, more of worrying actually. But I see that I have nothing to worry about. He slightly moved his head from side to side, trying to subtly nuzzle her cheek. He then pulled back and went to eating his sparrow with more vigor, but still trying to looke decent with it. He didn't want to looke like a starvinb badger in front of Windgale, but now he was even more excited for their hunting trip and wanted to quickly finish his prey. When was the last time I was actually excited about something? Ravenfeather mused quietly to hisself.

Windgale felt a thrill run through her at Ravenfeather's words. That was more than any cat had ever cared about her...But... did he love her? She hoped so...Her heart ached for that admission, to hear him say the words she'd never thought she'd hear in her life. Windgale hid a grin at Ravenfeather's voracious appetite. It didn't bother her in the least. She found it endearing. She'd already finished her prey, and as she licked her jaws clean of her meal, she got to her paws, wondering what surprises as joys the day's hunt would bring. She longed to twine her tail with his, but... until she knew...Patient.. she chided herself..

RAVENFEATHER

Ravenfeather finally finished his breakfast. He quickly used his paws to clean off the little mess he had on his face. He swiftly got to his paws, seeing that Windgale was waiting for him. Even though he hesitated at first, in the end he had his tail entwined with Windgale's. He cast an uncertain glance at the she-cat, hoping that he wasn't overstepping any boundaries. He wasn't use to being so affectionate, but it was his love for the beautiful she-cat that made him do things that he normally wouldn't do. Are you ready to go?

Windgale nodded, her tail clasping his a little tighter. Was this really her? She still couldn't believe it....Ravenfeather...was hunting with her...She smiled- she seemed to be doing that a lot lately, more than she'd ever done in her entire life...She padded silently forward, ignoring her clanmates' openmouthed stares. She could hear what they were thinking. Windgale? Being nice and sociable? And Ravenfeather? showing his emotions? But she didn't care.. Love made one do things they'd never do before, but it made them better...She clasped Ravenfeather's tail a little tighter, her joy written all over her face....

RAVENFEATHER

Ravenfeather felt happy that Windgale didn't pull her tail away from his, and utter joy when she squeezed her tail tighter around his. He was stunned into stupidity for a moment by her smile, it was mesmerizing! The only thing that took him out of his dazed state was when Windgale started to move forward. He noticed how his Clanmates were looking at them, so he started staring at them right back, daring them to say something. When he wasn't staring challengingly at his Clanmates, he was gazing lovingly at Windgale. At last they made it to the camp entrance, into it, then back out again and into the forest.

Once they were deep in the forest, Windgale turned to Ravenfeather, noticing how the sunlight caressed his pelt, and made his muscles seem more prominent. Though he was slight, he was agile, and fast, not only of paw, but of mind. She hesitated....Should...Should she tell him? "Ravenfeather..Ever since last night, I had a lot of time to think about things." She started. "And...I came to the conclusion, that... that there's something I have to tell you." She looked serious, hoping he wouldn't laugh at her at what she was going to say next...She found herself looking at her paws, hoping against all hope...

RAVENFEATHER

Ravenfeather was once again broken out of another daze by the object of his affection herself. His ears pricked up curiously. There was something she wanted to tell him? She looked completely serious with it too. He gently pried his tail out of hers, and put his the tip of his tail in a gesture of comfort.

"You've really shaken me up, Ravenfeather, shaken my world...I lived in a world where I was surrounded only by those who wished to torment me, or so I thought...I was so trapped in my bitterness, that I couldn't really live." She took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "When you rescued me, that changed everything. You tore the fabric of my world apart- I no longer saw things the same. You actually cared about me, whether I lived, or died..When you charged in, regardless of your own safety...you broke the ice that surrounded my heart...And...I know it may seem sudden for some, but...It doesn't feel that way to me." She meowed, tilting her head to look at him. "I....You've rescued me in more ways than one, and I can never thank you enough for that. But you didn't stop there...and...how can I say this? When you whirled into my life, you took my heart with you. I'm willing to wait, however long you want me to, I'll take things slow. But...there's one thing I cannot deny.." She meowed, her silver fur shining in the shaft of light that suddenly descended. "I'm...I'm in love with you."

RAVENFEATHER

For a while, Ravenfeather felt like he couldn't breath, not only because how the sun glinted off of her pelt, making her the most magnificent creature in his world, but also because of her confession. She loved him? For the first time in so long, Ravenfeather felt fully and truly happy. It felt like ages when Ravenfeather finally took another breath, but once he did, he was able to speak. You say that I've shaken up your world Windgale, but guess what? You've rocked mine. I've never really let any other cat get close to me ever since I got seperated from my family. But when you warmed up to me, your inferno was able to melt the glacier around my heart. I think that the other cats have thistledown for brains for when they picked on you, and didn't look beyond your birth parents to try and get to know you better. Honetly though, I'm a little glad that they didn't, for if they had, I wouldn't have you with me at this moment. Ravenfeather stretched forward and gave Windgale's cheek a couple of warming licks, then as he drew back, he lovingly rubbed his muzzle against her. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm in love with you too. And I don't care what the Clan would have to say about it. I feel like I've known you my whole life. Ravenfeather then licked her forehead tenderly. He just couldn't keep his paws off of her, he had to have constant contact with her.

"Yes, that's exactly what I feel.."Windgale meowed breathlessly. "It's like we've been this close for as long as we've been alive...I always wondered why Starclan chose my path as they did, but...It's all clear now. They brought me you- my past doesn't matter any more. " She mrrowed softly, "Yes, if that had never happened...we might never have met." The very thought made her heart ache. "and I don't know how I could ever be without you." She rested her head on his shoulder, marvelling at her luck, at the gift she'd been given. Not only a second chance, but.... a wonderful tom, who loved her, for her, despite her faults. She closed her blue eyes, the sound of Ravenfeather's purr and the beat of his heart so reassuring..

RAVENFEATHER

Ravenfeather lovingly nuzzled Windgale's head. I don't know what I would do without you either Windgale, you are my life now. Ravenfeather then gave Windgale's ear one more lick before he reluclantly pulled away, but not beofre entwining his tail with her's again. Come on, we should hunt for the Clan.

Windgale nodded. "Yes, or they'll wonder if something got us!" She purred, flicking his ears with her plumy tail. "C'mon, one with the least prey has to do a funny dance!" She mrrowed lightheartedly, bounding away with laughter. SHe looked over her shoulder and smiled to herself- her heart had not been still since they'd left!

RAVENFEATHER

Ravenfeather let out a purred in amusement as he dashed off after her. Windgale was acting just like a kit! But he didn't mind, in fact, he found it quite endearing. As he caught up to her, he kept drawing closer and closer to her side until their fur was touching. He just felt so joyus and carefree. He felt happy, Ravenfeather couldn't even remember the last time he felt like this! Then Ravenfeather heard a noise. He put on an extra burst of speed, when he was far enough ahead, he stuck his tail out to bar Windgale's way. He signaled with a few twitches of his ears for her to bequiet.

At first Windgale though he was being a tease, but the seriousness of the look on his face stopped her. She tensed, and sniffed the air while her ears swiveled to catch any sound that might be occuring. Her eyes no longer held that playful note, rather she'd become serious again like the warrior she was. She looked around cautiously...

RAVENFEATHER

Ravenfeather pricked his ears to listen better. A couple of seconds later, he heard it again, it was a scuffling noise. It sounded like a mouse, and it sounded close by. Ravenfeather dropped into the hunters crouch, and started moving towards a near by tree. He made sure that his pawsteps were as light as a feather. His prey didn't even suspect him, quick as a striking snake, he caught the mouse and killed it with a single blow. He turned back towards Windgale with triumph shining in his eyes.
