"I can't believe Cedarpaw ditched us!" Crowpaw complained to the small black she cat next to him, who only rolled her eyes in exasperation. "Crowpaw, for the last time, Cedarpaw....isn't a kit anymore. He can do as he likes. And he's still your brother and my friend, it doesn't change anything!"
Crowpaw narrowed his eyes. "Riiight. Running off with some she cat-" he sniffed. He thought of Emberpaw and Cedarpaw walking together, tails twined, (if they ever admitted to each other they liked each other) and he nearly gagged. "Ewwww....love is so sappy." He meowed, still complaining...

Moonpaw sighed as she heard the complaints of the tom and replies from the she-cat. 'Well there goes my peace and quiet.' Moonpaw thought. With another sigh, she rose to stand on all her paws and made her way over to the two cats. "Hello,"Moonpaw's soft voice said wanting to catch the attention of the two cats.

Hollypaw turned, startled. Her surprise turned to pleasure. "Hi Moonpaw! We didn't hear you. And," She shot an annoyed look at the still complaining Crowpaw. " I'm sorry for his blabbing and moaning....But believe me, there's no way to make him shut it..."
Crowpaw glared back at Hollypaw, affronted. "Hey! Well...." He cut himself off, still glaring. "Hi Moonpaw. What are you doing out here?" he meowed, making an effort to drag himself from his rant...

"Hello Hollypaw, Crowpaw," Moonpaw replied with a nod of her head to each cat. Finally coming to a stop in front of the two cats, Moonpaw sat down and curled her tail in front of her. "Don't worry, you guys didn't bother me to much. I was just trying to relax. what are you two up to?" Moonpaw asked.

"No clue really.." Crowpaw meowed. "But there was nothing to do in camp, so....." He looked disappointed. "And Froststar's too busy, and so's dad, so both our mentors can't train us at the moment.."
Hollypaw nodded. "He's right. So we were thinking of doing some hunting or patrolling by ourselves." She tilted her head to the side. "We'd always welcome other apprentices! Would you like to come with us? You know what they say; the more the merrier!"
Crowpaw nodded, his bad mood lifting. "Yeah, it'd be fun, really. Or at least I hope..." He shrugged, his slightly fluffy tail sweeping the leaves around on the ground....

Moonpaw purred in delight and jumped on to her paws with excitment! "I'd love to join you guys!" Moonpaw meowed happily, "So where are we off too? I think we should go hunting first, but then again we can both hunt and patrol at the same time." Moonpaw tail swished in the are egarly as if she had dog's tail instead her own small white kitty one.

"We were thinking the River- there's plenty of fish, and watervoles, and the juciest prey hide around out there." Hollypaw explained. "And yeah, we can patrol and hunt at the same time. Perhaps we'll see some warriors? Though I don't know, they're all pretty busy." SHe shrugged.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Crowpaw surged forward. "Crowpaw....." Hollypaw meowed with a sigh... "We can walk slower. He'll just have to wait for us." SHe meowed to Moonpaw...

Moonpaw meowed laughingly. "You probably right about the warriors, I don't think we'll see any, but heading to the river sounds like a good place to start." Moonpaw paw's twitched with excitement as she picture herself catching a water-vole and raced up to walk with Crowpaw. "Come on, Hollypaw!" Moonpaw shouted over her shoulder with eagerness.

"Hey," Hollypaw meowed, purring, "I thought you were on my side!" She called out, picking up her pace til she jogged side by side with Moonpaw and Crowpaw. "So Moonpaw," the black apprentice meowed, "Have you done a tour of the territory yet? You're a new apprentice, right?" She gave the white and black apprentice a friendly smile.
Crowpaw's mind was wandering. He was thinking....about Fireclan. He frowned in thought...

"Yep, I'm a apprentice alright!" Moonpaw meowed laughingly. "And no I haven't gotten a tour yet." Moonpaw then looked over at Crowpaw and noticed him frown about one of his thoughts. "Is something wrong Crowpaw?" She asked. Even though Moonpaw hardly talked to Crowpaw and Hollypaw, for her being some moons younger then the pair, she was still overly concerned for them and some of her other clanmates. 'He isn't thinking about the war or anything is he? Or Fireclan, right?' Moonpaw thought.

"Who's your mentor?" Hollypaw meowed. "Mentors are a little tight right now, or so I hear. I guess there's way to many of us and not enough of them!" She mrrowed. "Hmm? Crowpaw?" She turned to look at her clanmate. He looked distant... She poked him. "Hey, fuzzbrain," She teased gently, "Moonpaw was talking to you!"
"Wha-Oh sorry, Moonpaw. I got lost in thought." He meowed, giving her a sheepish look. In truth....he'd been thinking about Dovepaw. He grimaced. He knew he shouldn't but.... his mind kept wandering back to her of its own accord. He rolled his eyes at himself...."Sorry. I guess I'm a little tired. My mind's being strange." He looked apologetic...

Moonpaw looked over at Crowpaw with both a worried and an I-don't-that-your-telling-us-the-truth expression. Instead of questioning Crowpaw any further, Moonpaw turned her attention back to Hollypaw. "I don't have a mentor yet from knowledge." Moonpaw meowed thoughtfully.

"That bites..." Hollypaw sighed regretfully. "Like I said, not many mentors....I guess they should consider doubling us up?" She added doubtfully. "Perhaps Froststar knows what to do."
"Of course she does." Crowpaw ignored Moonpaw's look of disbelief. "Froststar is the leader, she and mom know the best."
"Well you're biased there, "Hollypaw meowed with a grin. "After all, Lakeripple's deputy and your mother, and Froststar's your mentor." She shouldered Crowpaw gently and turned back to Moonpaw. "Got an eye on any cat for a mentor?" She asked curiously. "I mean, every warrior in Waterclan is a great mentor, but sometimes one's personality draws you to them more than the others. I know Eagletalon is great for me. He's pretty easy going, but definitely lets me know when I need to step it up. I wonder where he is at the moment? Unfortunately I think I always disappoint him in the battle techniques department." She made a face. "Fighting isn't my strength."

Moonpaw shook her head at Hollypaw's comment about disappointing her mentor. "I don't think you disappointed him at all," Moonpaw reassured Hollypaw. "And it really shouldn't matter,in my opinion, if fighting isn't one of your greatest strengths; just as long as you know your limits and have a good heart then you could be the weakest cat of the clan, but be the most cherished and respected one of us all." Moonpaw came to a stop and looked up at the blue sky. It really was a pretty day. Looking back at the other two again she smiled at them. "To answer you question, I really don't have anyone in mind for my mentor, but I know Froststar will pick someone that she knows is the best mentor for me."

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Hollypaw meowed with a smile. "But everyone has strengths and weaknesses and we all contribute to the clan in one way, or another." She purred.
"Yeah, like I said, Froststar's pretty good with that." Crowpaw meowed with a sure grin. "I wonder if my brother and Hollypaw will become warriors. Cedarpaw's been an apprentice for a long time now, though he doesn't complain." He looked impressed at the no complaining thing. "If I were him, I would have been disappointed, but he doesn't seem to mind."

Moonpaw chuckled softly to her self as she noticed how much Crowpaw admire his brother. "Well, I hope they beome warriors soon too," Moonpaw said, "But from what I heard, Froststar wasn't going to have anyone become a warrior until after the war." Moonpaw looked at the ground after she finished talking. She hadn't liked what she had heard and hoped it wasn't true, but she was still in doubt. To top it all off though, Moonpaw was frighten. Not so much of the war, but of how it would end. Just thinking about the end of the war caused Moonpaw to shiver with fear.

Hollypaw shrugged. "Yeah, I guess she's too busy, plus perhaps she wants us all to get as much in depth training as we possibly can. She knows who we're going against, she knows what she's doing." Hollypaw meowed.
"What's the matter, Moonpaw?" Crowpaw asked, his head tilted slightly to the side as he saw her shiver. "Are you cold?"

"What?" Moonpaw quickly asked as she looked up at Crowpaw and Hollypaw. "Its nothing, just thinking,"She said after she realized what Crowpaw asked her. "Besides i do feel a little chilly, but I'll be fine." Moonpaw smiled gently at the two cats, reasuring them that she was really okay.

"Okay," Crowpaw meowed, nodding, glad that Moonpaw was okay. "Is it chilly?" He meowed with surprise. "I didn't notice..."
Hollypaw rolled her eyes good naturedly. "That's because you have a thicker coat then we do, silly." She turned to Moonpaw, and started to speak, but she stopped dead at a small sound... Ears pricked, she crept forwards, each pawstep carefully placed...A small mouse, it's back to Hollypaw, nibbled on seeds it had found nearby. Hollypaw's nose twitched as she waited for the right moment...Finally, she sprang...

Moonpaw watched in awe. Hollypaw's form was perfect! Oh, how Moonpaw envied her; for Hollypaw-and Crowpaw- both had mentors to teach them to be graceful and silent as the stalked their prey. As Hollypaw made her way back, Moonpaw smiled and said,"Good job! That was really cool. I'm totally bad when I need to catch my prey from behind." She sat down on her hind legs and touch the tip of Hollypaw's head in a sort of good job pat.
(Out of character: sorry for the late reply. the last few weeks of summer have been chaotic!)
