For the first time in her life, Windgale felt shy. "You sure? I mean, I might be able to catch a snail." she joked. She looked gratefully at Ravenfeather, and caught herself- this seemed to be a day for new experiences, but she was enjoying every one, except for the fox attack of course. "Ravenfeather?" she meowed quietly, none of her usual sarcasm or disdain in her tone. "Why... why did you save me? Why did you even care?" she asked, needing to know the answer. He'd been the only cat ever to save her, and to show her some ounce of kindness other than Treestar and Rippedtail..

RAVENFEATHER Yes, I'm sure. Ravenfeather had turned to leave, but Windgale called him back. He was a littled taken aback by her question, but he answered nonetheless. I chose to rescue you because, even if you don't think it, your important to the Clan. Actually, your one of the few best warriors I know. Besides, I couldn't just sit there and watch a cat die, let alone a fellow Clanmate. And I care because, in a way, your important to me too. Ravenfeather looked down at the ground when he said the last part. Mouse-brain! Now she's going to think that you have nothing but thistledown in your head after that last comment! Ravenfeather turned back towards the entrance.

Despite her shock at his words, a warm feeling crept through the icy regions of her heart, thawing it from the deep freeze it had been encased in. She smiled to herself, a small one at first, but one that grew bigger. "Ravenfeather? Thanks so much..." She meowed after him, watching as he padded out... "Thanks..."

RAVENFEATHER Ravenfeather heard Wingale's thanks, and not only that, but he swore that he heard a smile in her voice. He would have turned around just to see for himself, but decided that he needed to get on with the hunt. It really didn't take him that long to pick up the scent of rabbit and track it. As soon as he saw the unfortunate creature, he smoothly dropped into the hunters crouch. The animal didn't even know what hit it when Ravenfeather took it down with just one blow. He didn't notice before, but the rabbit was quite plump. It would be more than enough for Windgale and him both. He trotted quickly back to the large whole where Windgale was with his large catch. Once he got there, he went straight to the injured she-cat and dropped the rabbit right in front of her. He gently nudged the rabbit with his nose towards her, waiting for her to take the first bite. He may not have that much experience with them, but he at least knew how to treat a she-cat.

Time seemed to slow when Ravenfeather left. It was unbearable, and Windgale felt like it would be an age until he finally came back. Every sense was heightened as she waited for his return. She tilted her head, and mentally stopped herself. Why was she waiting so intensely for him? There was something there that hadn't been there before, she concluded, admiring Ravenfeather's handsome face in the mirror of her mind. He had a certain rugged handsomeness, and eyes that were filled with authority, yet gentleness too. Why hadn't she seen it before? His rescue and his gentle words had melted the ice of her heart and given her new eyes in which to see the world. She barely masked her joy as Ravenfeather entered, a rabbit between her jaws. She purred quietly as he approached her, and she couldn't help but admire the grace and power with which he moved. She shyly took a bite of the rabbit, noticing that he waited for her, a true gentlecat (XD) rarely found these days. "Thanks," she purred. "That was really fast, did it fall by your paws in awe?" she teased...

RAVENFEATHER Ravenfeather purred in amusement at Windgale's teasing. He took a bite of rabbit before he replied. Your welcome. No, you have it wrong. It walked up to me, and put my paw to its throat. Ravenfeather joked back quietly. He noticed how much more.....warmer she seemed towards him. Because of that, she seemed to have a certain glow about her. A glow that just made her look beautiful in his world. Even with the fox wounds she still looked like the most gorgeous creature that he had ever seen. He couldn't help but just to sit there and stare into her shining blue eyes....

Windgale mrrowed with laughter. She'd never known Ravenfeather had such wit. It seemed she'd missed alot; bitterness just ate away at one's self, til it left nothing but the pain, she realized with chagrin. So Ravenfeather had saved her in more ways than one. She shivered, realizing how close she'd come to losing herself. Yet Ravenfeather had rescued her just in time. She blushed as she noticed he was looking into her eyes. What did he see? They said the eyes were the window to one's soul; did Ravenfeather see that she'd been changed? Did he see her hearfelt gratefullness and perhaps something more? Windgale finished her part of the rabbit, and quietly began grooming his pelt. It was a beautiful black, changing to a blue-black as he moved in the light. Windgale's breath was taken away; he was altogether handsome...

RAVENFEATHER Ravenfeather quickly ate his part of the rabbit as well. He let out a purr of content when Windgale started grooming his pelt, while while narrowing his eyes happily and affectionately. He manuvered around, careful not to dislodge Windgale, as he found a position to settle himself so he could groom her pelt also. He was in a rush earlier, but now he was more thorough in grooming her as he found any remaining blood within her fur. Her pelt was beautifly sleek and easy to clean. Ravenfeather felt something that was beyond happiness as he shared tongues for the first time with Windgale. He wonder if this was how it felt all the time, or if it was the she-cat in particular. He then decided that it probaly wasn't, he hadn't really seen any of his other Clanmates have the dopey look that he must have on his face now. In fact, the only time he had probaly seen this look was when Leaffur and Forestfur shared tongues. A thought hit Ravenfeather so hard, it felt like a boulder fell out of the tree and hit him upside the head. Leaffur and Forestfur were mates, that couldn't possibly mean........

(XD )
Windgale's eyes narrowed in contentment as Ravenfeather groomed her pelt. It had been so long since she'd shared tongues with her clanmates! It felt especially special as it was Ravenfeather doing it.....She smiled dreamily, her tongue rasping gently over his short black fur. She felt his spine stiffen. Had she done something wrong? She looked anxiously at the handsome black tom, desperate to remain in his good graces...

RAVENFEATHER Ravenfeather thought over his new revelation. The more he thought about it, the more he realaxed as he accepted it. Ravenfeather was always a practical cat, and saw no point in denying anything. There were times when the truth would hurt, and times it would be pleasent. If he was honest with himself, the truth seemed quite pleasent this time. Was there really harm at the fact that he had feelings for Windgale, at the fact that he loved her? Sure others would think it's too soon, but he didn't care, because honestly it felt like he knew her his whole life. They were already so alike in so many ways. Besides, maybe it's about time for him to start looking for a mate, he certainly wasn't getting any younger, not that he was old or anything, but still. Leaffur and Forestfur were a lot more younger than he was, and they already had kits. The only problem was, Ravenfeather had no idea on how to go about courting a she-cat. But Windgale seemed pretty happy now, so maybe if he continued acting the way he was, with a few affectionate words and touches here, and there, she'll get the message. Or would he have to outright tell her? Ravefeather stifled a weary sight, he decided to worry about that later. Even though it felt like he knew the she-cat for a lifetime, he still didn't know anything about her specifaclly, so he decided to start there. But not with out a bit of hesitation. Windgale? Why did the other apprentices pick on you? I never really understood why.....

Windgale flinched at the mention of her past, but she realized it was time to tell, time to get it off her chest. Besides....the way Ravefeather was looking at her, it didn't seem so bad anymore. "Well, because my father was a rogue, and because my mother was mutilated trying to defend him." She meowed, looking at her paws. "children of rogues weren't generally accepted as clanmembers, nor were they thought to be good warriors...My father strove to prove to his clan that he was a capable warrior, and one day, his extra efforts nearly got him killed. And he would have, had my mother not saved him... She paid a terrible price, though she told me often enough that as long as Thorn was alive, she was whole. He and my mother were very much in love...even after her incident. Well....the other apprentices took my father's mistake to mean I would be useless and a trouble maget, only a danger to my clanmates....So they didn't have any trouble telling me that, or teasing me..." She shuffled her paws...

RAVENFEATHER Ravenfeather pressed his fur into Windgale's in comfort. Even though he once again may seem calm on the outside, inside he was boiling with rage. He was caught slightly off guard on how protective he felt towards her. But there was no denying that he wanted nothing more than to walk into camp and rip out any cat's tongue who even so much as looked at her the wrong way. He pushed his rage aside for the moment, now was not the time, nor the place for it. But he did make a mental note that when he was made deputy, he would have all the warriors who taunted her to do apprentice chores for five moons straight. If it helps at all, I don't think that your useless, a trouble magnet, or a danger to your Clanmates. And don't even go thinking that fox could have put me in danger, that was just bad luck. I wasn't lieing when I said your one of the very best warriors I've seen within the Clan. His lips pulling back in the beginnings of a snarl, and a deep growl resonating in his throat are the only things that betrayed his rage as he continued his last statement, As for the other warriors, they had no absolute right to tell you those things. You can't judge a cat from who their birth parents are.

"Thank you Ravenfeather.." Windgale meowed, her eyes shining with hope, and thankfulness. "No cat's ever told me that....and...it means alot hearing it from you.." She licked his cheek, and rubbed her head against him briefly, before pulling back, not sure how he'd feel about her actions. "Yeah.. I thought so too, but, what was I to do? I worked really hard to prove myself, but it didn't really helped. They kept seeing my father in me, not the real me." She shrugged. "But you know what? Suddenly, it doesn't matter anymore. It's like I've been given a new start, and...I have you to thank for that.." She meowed softly, gently pleased at his reaction. She realized something she thought would never happen to her- she was truly, irrevocably in love..

RAVENFEATHER Ravenfeather felt warm tingles make their up his spine at the display of affection that Windglae showed toward him. He was touched by her words and the gratefulness, along with hiope that was shining in her eyes. He noticed another emotion there, but he still wasn't use to reading Windgale's eyes, so he couldn't identify it. He gave a swift, but affectionate lick to her muzzel before he replied. Your welcome. But your not the only cat who is starting anew today. From this moment forward Ravenfeather vowed to himself that he would pad after Windgale, until she returned his affections. He really didn't care if it took until the end of time, as long as she ended up loving him back it would all be worth it in the end.

Windgale had never purred and smiled so much in her life before! "Guess we're both starting with a clean slate, hmm?" She meowed, closing her eyes so she could just savor and enjoy this moment..."We should probably be getting back..."Windgale meowed reluctantly at last. "Treestar might need you, you know, as his choice for deputy." She added. "But," she meowed, a little too quickly. "Can we...hunt or something tomorrow?" She just wanted to spend more time with him- he was the best thing that had ever happened to her, and she didn't want to lose him...
(bleah... sorry for my bleah post... perhaps they can go to the med cat for Windgale, and then.... on a different post, they can tell each other how they feel? I dunno... bleah.. my muse is dead atm...)

OOC: Yeah, we could probaly end it at the medicine cat's den, and then have them confess on another post. Well, as much as confessing Ravenfeahter is going to do lol! Like I said, for this cat there are times where you have to learn to read between the lines. BIC: RAVENFEATHER Yeah, I guess we both are. Ravenfeather felt disappointment go through him as Windgale voiced her next thoughts. He let out a quiet sigh. Your right about that too, we should be heading back. Our Clanmates might have already started worrying about us. And I would love to go on a hunt with you tomorrow. Ravenfeather rubbed his cheek against Windgale's for a brief moment as he said the last comment. Then he got up and gently nudged Windgale to her paws.

Ravenfeather's gentle touch made Windgale breathless. She wobbled on her paws for a moment, but then steadied herself, her wounds were that bad, she chided herself. The blood had dried, thank starclan for that small mercy. She took a step forward, and then another and another. She purred at Ravenfeather, "I'm glad.. I.." She fumbled for the words, "It should be great." she meowed at last, mentally kicking herself. Was that a lame response or what? Windgale almost growled at herself...but then the pain lanced through her paw- she'd walked on it wrong, and she yelped..

RAVENFEATHER Ravenfeather was about to tell Windgale that he was sure that their hunting expedition the next day would be more than great, until she let out a painful yelp. He saw that she walked on her paw the wrong way, and he gave her his shoulder to lean on. Once he was sure that she was supported enough, he asked, Are you sure that you can make it back to camp? We can rest for a little while longer if you want? Concern was shining in his eyes as he asked his questions. He hoped that she didn't take them the wrong way. He didn't think that she was weak by any means, in fact she was a very capable she-cat. He just didn't want her to strain herself.

She shook her head, her stubborness getting the better of her, though she knew Ravenfeather only meant well. "No, it'll be fine." She meowed, glowering at her paw. "I just hope I heal fast....or I might not be able to go on that hunting trip with you." She made a face at that. "Do you think the medicine cat might have something to help it heal faster? I hate sitting still for too long..." Though sitting still with you right next to me was amazingly easy....and a dream come true... She thought to herself...

RAVENFEATHER Ravenfeather nodded in acceptance that she was fine, and that she didn't want to wait any longer. He admired her determination. Ravenfeather's heart dropped at the thought of not being able to hunt with her tomorrow. I'm pretty sure that Spottednose will have something for your paw. But, even if she doesn't, we'll go hunting as soon as your up to it. Ravenfeather stood paitently beside Windgale, ready to move whenever she did.
