Hollypaw looked up at Crowpaw's greeting- only to be landed on by Cedarpaw, who'd initiated a leap at her.
"Whuufff!" Hollypaw's breath whooshed out of her lungs, and for a moment, she lay unable to breathe.

"Well, uh, looks like you're winning, totally, Hollypaw." Crowpaw snickered. The black apprentice shot him a glare, but then grinned breathlessly. "Well...*pantpant* if you'd been battling Cedarpaw and heard your name, wouldn't you turn too? Too bad he's got ears of stone!" She teased, boxing Cedarpaw's ears.

Cedarpaw only grinned. "Hmph, you're just saying that because you don't want to admit you lost!"

"In your dreams mouse-brain." Hollypaw purred. "You look like you need something," she added. "You've got that curious look in your eyes. I've seen it too many times to not recognize it." she laughed.

"Well actually, there was something," Crowpaw admitted, scuffing the ground with his paw. "I was wondering if you'd smelled any Fireclan cats on our territory on your patrol yesterday and the day before."

"Why?"
"I'm curious is all!" He meowed defensively.
"Okay, okay, no need to bite my head off, Crowpaw." Cedarpaw narrowed his eyes. "Hmm..Fireclan.. other than the normal ones you mean? well...um...nope. Not a single scent. You can rest assured that fireclan's not invading, or at least not yet. But who knows? Times are changing.."

Hollypaw nodded in agreement. "I agree with Cedarpaw; not a single scent of Fireclan."

Dovepaw frowned, Darn. she whispered, not noticing a slight breeze...

"Say, wanna join us? I'm getting kind of tired of being tromped over and over again.. but as Cedarpaw's got no one else willing to be a punching bag, I have to be. Can I volunteer you?"

Crowpaw shook his head, a grin on his face. "Sorry Hollypaw, looks like you're stuck with him for the rest of today~"

The breeze picked up into a small wind, ruffling through the leaves taking some of Dovepaw's scent with it and then settled down. Dovepaw stared at the ground with a weak smile, Oops. crawling on her belly to move, hoping the other apprentices didn't notice - or Crowpaw.

The wind blew, ruffling the fur of the three cats- Cedarpaw froze, as did Hollypaw. "Is that...Fireclan scent??" Cedarpaw meowed increduously. He darted off, Hollypaw close behind, Crowpaw could only groan to himself and shake his head, and ultimately follow his clanmates to where they'd apprehended Dovepaw...

"You," Cedarpaw hissed. "What are you doing on our territory??"

Hollypaw said nothing, her body was tensed, ready to fight, if need be. She found it hard to believe that a Fireclan cat would be so presumptious to even step paw over the border, but perhaps she had a reason... She always liked to give others the benefit of the doubt, a chance to explain themselves. "Well?" She said softly to the white she cat. "Please explain yourself...I'm sure you're here for a reason."
Crowpaw. rolled his eyes and wondered whether he should intervene or not. But Dovepaw could speak for herself, she didn't need him telling his brother and clanmate what was going on.

Dovepaw titled her head at Cedarpaw, Is it always those questions first? she sighed, I'm looking for someone.

Cedarpaw, though wary and demanding answers, was not nearly as hostile as his brother had been upon meeting Dovepaw. The silver tom shrugged. "What else do you think we'd ask," he challenged, "considering that clans are never supposed to tread on another's territory?" he said, slightly less anger in his tone- she was looking for someone?

Hollypaw sat on her haunches, her milky brown eyes never leaving Dovepaw. "So who are you looking for? I'm guessing you heard every word of our exchange with Crowpaw, so you know we haven't smelled any cats from your clan, excepting yourself."

"And Crowpaw, you must already know Dovepaw," Cedarpaw meowed, looking at his sibling. "Since you were the one asking about it."

"How could I not? She-" Crowpaw bit off his words before he said something hurtful..

Dovepaw glared at Cedarpaw, If you think about blaiming him for my being here, don't. she said hotly, And yes, I am looking for someone, but he doesn't seem to be anywhere here...and I wouldn't think he went on other clan territories, due to.....arrangements. Dovepaw added, her eyes dull with sadness.

"I wasn't thinking about blaming him," Cedarpaw protested, "I was just stating a fact- that he must have known for a little bit that you were here."

Hollypaw looked sympathetic. "Well, since you're looking for someone, I suppose it's alright that you're here, right Cedarpaw?" The tom nodded and she went on, "And, like I'm sure Crowpaw has offered, we'll help you. What's his name?"

Crowpaw looked surprised- had she just defended him? it was a pleasant surprise..

Dovepaw looked at Cederpaw with dim belief. She looked back at Hollypaw, The nicest one out of them all. So predictable. Dovepaw shook her head at the thought, His name is Silentpaw. His pelt is all black. Dovepaw said softly. She glimpsed at Crowpaw, Your quiet... she thought.

"Like mine?" The she cat purred, a small grin on her face. "Silentpaw? hmmm..." hollypaw was deep in thought...

"Wait a minute, didn't we see a black cat the other day? His pelt was black, but he was too far away for us to get a good smell- he must have tried to disguise it.." Cedarpaw broke in.

Hollypaw's eyes glimmered. "Yes! I remember that now! How could I forget? Eagletalon sent us chasing after him...but we never caught him. We lost the scent somewhere, not that it was that strong to begin with."

Crowpaw noticed Dovepaw looking curiously at him. "What?" He meowed, reddning, though no cat could see it. Could she see what he was thinking? "Well, what are we waiting for then?" he said brusquely. "Let's get looking.." he got to his paws and started off.

"Um...Crowpaw?" Cedarpaw meowed, looking beamused. "We saw the cat this way..."

"I knew that. I was just waiting for you to get going." Crowpaw muttered, changing his direction..

Dovepaw gave a small laugh at Crowpaw's mistake. She looked over at Hollypaw, You really saw a black cat here before!? Dovepaw asked in disbelief. Maybe I shouldn't give up hope...

Hollypaw nodded. "Yeah. Like I said though, Cedarpaw and I never caught up to them. Whoever it was, they were in an awful hurry..." She meowed, flicking her tail. The three Waterclan cats padded quickly towards where the black cat had been seen. A small scent still remained...."Does this smell like your friend?" Cedarpaw asked, looking over at Dovepaw..
Crowpaw, hanging at the rear of the group, wondered why Dovepaw's laughter sounded so sweet....

Dovepaw sniffed the ground, the scent flowing through her. The dimness of the scent may have been weak, but she knew the answer. Dovepaw's heart slowed, her eyes dropping a bit sadly.

No.

She sat down, ears flat against her head. Dovepaw sighed, Guess he's gone, or just lost somewhere. Dovepaw smiled up at the Waterclan cats, Thanks for your help anyways, this is as far as I will go. I don't want to intrude any further.

Crowpaw's eyes widened. She was leaving? Already? He moved to object, but he didn't want his brother and Hollypaw to hear him say anything. He waited for them to leave...

Hollypaw nodded. "Are you sure there's nothing we can do for you?" She gave Dovepaw a sad look. "I thought for sure it might be him. I'm sorry it isn't..."

Cedarpaw said nothing. She must be feeling pretty bad. He couldn't imagine what it'd be like to lose Emberpaw....

Dovepaw smiled, No it's okay. You let me into your territory, and that's as far as I will intrude. she dipped her head, Hopefully no bad winds will make us cross again into darker situations. she looked at Crowpaw, Thank you for taking me to your friends. Dovepaw said politely. Dovepaw looked around, flattening her ears somewhat embarrassed, I have to ask of one last thing..which way is to Fireclan?

"I'll take you back." Crowpaw meowed, a little too quickly. Cedarpaw raised an eyebrow, but nodded. "Okay then. You take Dovepaw back to the border, and we'll meet you at the lake okay?" Crowpaw nodded, wishing his brother and Hollypaw would just leave already. He gritted his teeth...

"Well....we hope you find him someday. He must have been important to you..." Hollypaw meowed. "Good luck Dovepaw. Stay safe. Fireclan's probably very dangerous right now..."She dipped her head in respect, and together, she and Cedarpaw padded away.

Crowpaw held his breath, waiting til they went out of sight.

"Do...do you really have to go so soon?" He meowed grudgingly..

Dovepaw smiled at Hollypaw, Thanks, and goodbye! she called. She's nice, just like Starpaw. Dovepaw smiled, and turned her attention back to Crowpaw. She gave a slight frown, This comes from the cat that was pushing me to go home? Dovepaw had to stifle a laugh, Kinda. If the other's find out I'm here despite alliances, it's still bad. She looked away, According to some cats. It may have looked harsh as well as the sound, if you didn't look at Dovepaws grin.

Crowpaw winced. He'd said that himself. "Well, yeah, but I said that before..." He hesitated, "Before I got to know you." He finally said, looking away from Dovepaw as an uncharacteristic blush rose on his face. He pawed at the ground. "You know... well..you're not bad.. for a Fireclan she cat. I mean.." He made a face. He was just screwing things up. "Here, fireclan's this way." He meowed hastily, getting to his paws..

(yay starpaw!! ^^ I haven't rped her for a bit... she's still trying to rescue Smallkit, to no avail yet =P)

Dovepaw looked confused, not understanding what Crowpaw said - even if it was for the best for now - she finally got back to reality when Crowpaw mentioned that they were close to Fireclan, Oh! Okay, that's good! she said, catching up with Crowpaw.

Confusing toms. Dovepaw shook her head, Although... she stole a glance at Crowpaw and looked away sighing, Your still out there right? Dovepaw asked, looking at the sky, Under the same sky?

ooc- Still need to wait for Foxcloud to continue that thread though =/ Poor Smallkit needs to make it to safety!
