Hollypaw's Training [Holly/Eagle]

Eagletalon led Hollypaw to the Wet Marshes. This was once his favorite place to train. It was quite difficult to hunt or battle train on the damp earth. "Hurry up Hollypaw, but don't slip," the tom called.

Hollypaw hurried to keep up, concentrating on putting her paws on good footing and not slip. "Coming Eagletalon!" She meowed, so happy to have her mentor back. Her black fur was splattered with mud, but she didn't care. She grinned and bounded closer to Eagletalon. "What are we training today? Battle? hunting?"

Eagletalon thought of what they were going to do, but he turned to Hollypaw. "Which would you prefer?" he asked. He thought about Hollypaw's sister, Dreampaw. The young cat had disappeared without warning. She was presumed dead, but that was unknown still. "Do you miss your sister?" he asked. His thoughts went to his brother, Rarestrike. He was supposedly killed a long time ago, but Rarestrike returned and spoke to Eagletalon. He said he met a beautiful rogue, and he was living with her. Together they were planning to run to a different land. Eagletalon hadn't heard from him sense.

A flash of pain ripped through Hollypaw's heart and she turned her face away from Eagletalon. For a long time, she had buried her grief for Dreampaw at first from shock, and then from hope , hoping that Dreampaw was alive, and not dead, as many presumed. Hollypaw had never believed her sister could be dead; it was impossible. Dreampaw? Dead? For a moment, she didn't speak..."I.....I miss her alot...." a tear ran down her face. "She was there one moment... and when I woke up, gone the next.. But she's not dead... I refuse to believe that she's dead! She was always so unhappy...I think she chose to leave rather than stay in Waterclan..." Hollypaw meowed in a soft voice... The pent up grief she'd held back for so long was finally releasing itself. Tinypaw, Frostpaw, and Dreampaw... , Tinypaw and Frostpaw had also mysteriously disappeared, leaving Hollypaw the supposed only child of her litter... Was there a curse on her family? Sometimes Hollypaw wondered.. A ball of pain lodged in her throat as she remembered each of her sibling's faces...


(I didn't know Eagletalon had a brother- that's cool! ^^ lol does Rarestrike ever make it to that land *gasp* He runs away to Island of clans!! ^^)

"Well, then let's get off this sad topic," Eagletalon meowed. He walked farther away from Hollypaw and spun on his heels to face her. "Attack me."

Hollypaw looked startled. How had he changed topics so quickly? She wiped a paw quickly across her eyes, but the grief didn't disappear... she leapt at Eagletalon, but the attempt was halfhearted.. Will I ever see Dreampaw again? Or Tinypaw and Frostpaw for that matter? She wondered.

Eagletalon side stepped Hollypaw easily. He swiped a paw and trapped the small apprentice under it. "I'm sorry I've upset you, but you can't let interfere with your fighting. If you do, any cat you fight will say something about Dreampaw or Tinypaw or Frostpaw. And then if you act the same way, that cat could kill you with one hit."

ooc: It was a test, and yes he does that a lot...

Hollypaw looked startled. Eagletalon was right. Understanding washed over her and she nodded. "Yes...So-" She took a deep breath. "I can't just let my grief break out everytime some cat mentions them.. I failed that didn't I?" She meowed, hanging her head. "How do you deal with missing your brother?" She meowed, a note of sadness creeping into her voice. "I mean... I can't forget them."

"It's true that you can't forget them," Eagletalon meowed. "But what you do when your fighting, you let yourself think about them and fight for them. It will make you five times stronger and faster." Eagletalon stepped farther away from Hollypaw, and nodded his head for her to try again.

Hollypaw nodded. She could do that. Her loss and anger could be directed towards her opponent and their attempts to use them to taunt her would be to no avail. Hollypaw wondered why she hadn't seen that before. With a yowl, she leapt at Eagletalon, letting her frustration, her sorrow and her pain release by fighting for them, fighting against the injustice of thier loss...

Eagletalon dodged Hollypaw's outstretched paws, but only by a little. "Good, but try a sneakier attack. You are too small to attack me head on," he meowed his praise and instruction in one breath.

Hollypaw nodded, hearing his words. Her mind raced. What would be a good move to use against him? His main strength was strength. Perhaps she could unbalance him? Quickly, Hollypaw weaved through his legs, whacking his legs with her velveted paws, before jumping out and landing on his back..

Eagletalon landed with a thud. "Nice work, you used your advantage of speed," he meowed. "Now I'm going to attack you and you have to defend yourself. Ready?"

Hollypaw was already on her guard. Weight spread evenly on her toes, Hollypaw was ready to dodge at the slightest notice. She waited for Eagletalon's move... She hadn't thought of herself as fast, but her training and growing had made her so. She smiled, happy that she was finally out growing her clumsy kit self..

Eagletalon raced toward Hollypaw. He was attacking head on, try to knock her to her back.

Hollypaw nimbly dodged to one side, lashing out with a paw at the same time. She reasoned that Eagletalon wouldn't easily be able to break his charge, so he would theoretically run into her "claws"...(she's got them velveted)

Eagletalon ran smack into Hollypaw's paw. She could have done some damage with that move. "Nice work, but most warriors won't charge head on. They are more sneaky, you and Mistpaw should spar some time. She's a sneaky little kitty, it'll help you with quick thinking and creativity." Then without warning Eagletalon leapt at Hollypaw.

Hollypaw grinned. "Sure, if I can find her." She meowed, ducking under Eagletalon and dashing out from under him. That done, Hollypaw tried to leap on his back; from there, she could do a lot of 'damage'..

Eagletalon rolled away from Hollypaw and sprung to his paws. "I'll wait here, I want you to go back to camp and find Mistpaw, but hunt a little for the elder's on the way back!" Eagletalon instructed.

Hollypaw nodded, but was a little surprised. Eagletalon often changed subjects really quickly. She ran off to the camp, using her nose to try to find Mistpaw. "Mistpaw?" She meowed once in the camp. "Mistpaw!"
