Ripplestream looked up at Lakeripple. He could sense the deputy wasn't happy they were ignoring signs of two-leg activity. He looked upriver, where the thing would have come from. To Lakeripple, he whispered, "do you want me to take a patrol up later, just to be sure we won't regret ignoring that later?"

Shademoon caught sight of the cats grouped together by the river, and instinctively stepped behind her brother, a subtle signal for him to take charge.
Rivertail felt his sister lose the uncharacteristic cofidence she had been carrying while training Hollypaw, and sensed it was his turn to be the leader. "Hello Riplestream, Cedarpaw, Lakeripple. We finished training so we thought we'd come and find you to see if you're ready to swap over yet." he noticed the less than cheerful atmosphere. "Is something wrong? Has something happened?" He looked at the cats gathered by the freely flowing river.

"Mom, can I go too? Maybe Birchpaw will come too... like I said I haven't seen him much due to our training..." His ears flicked forward as three new cats strode into sight. He smiled. "Hi Hollypaw! Hi Shademoon and Rivertail!" His blue green eyes narrowed playfully as he greeted his friend and the warriors that accompanied her. He'd let Lakeripple and Ripplestream tell what had happened, though it wasn't too serious, or so he thought.

Ripplestream narrowed his eyes upstream, already wondering who would go. 'It might be best to take experienced warriors...' He thought, gaze straying to where Hollypaw and Cedarpaw were conversing. 'As much as I would like to show Cedarpaw how dangerous two-legs are, his curiousity might get the best of him.' He looked up at Lakeripple, eyes still narrowed in thought. "Any ideas on who I should take?" He meowed to the deputy.

"Yeah, what is this all about? Why's Lakeripple and Froststar here?" Hollypaw meowed to Cedarpaw. "Did something happen?"
"Well, we found a two leg object in the river," Cedarpaw meowed, gesturing with his head towards the river. "It was really sharp, but Ripplestream and I buried it far on the edge of our territory. Mom's worried that two legs might be moving in... Apparently, two legs could be coming here..."

Ripplestream nodded, his expression grave. Then his green eyes lit with an idea, and he turned to the three new arrivals. "Why don't I take you two?" He asked, looking between Rivertail and Shadowmoon. 'It'd give me a good chance to tell Rivertail about my suggestion.' He thought.

(sorry! I got sick...looking at computer was making my head buzz...))
"Yep, sure. I'd like to check this out." Rivertail replied. "Shademoon? Coming?" He was curious, but he didn't want to go anywhere without his sister, not after her last little spell.
"Yeah, whatever." she snapped. "It's not like you couldn't just expect me to come. I mean, I'm not going to stay here." It was coming back, but this time it was just making her angry.
Rivertail recoiled as though Shademoon had slashed open his face. It must be gettng worse... He thought. "O-okay then. Let's go!" he leaned over to his sister, and murmered softly in her ear. "It's okay...I'm here." She hissed softly at him in response. He flinched, and leaned away again. He'd talk to her later. For now, he would have to supress the worries and fears inside him...and she would have to try and supress whatever was inside her.

Hollypaw and Cedarpaw's ears flattened in shock at Shademoon's unexpected outburst. "SHe okay?" Cedarpaw whispered to his friend.
Hollypaw shrugged "I don't know... I hope so.." she mewed, her voice full of concern..

((Have at it.)) Ripplestream narrowed his eyes at Shademoon's outburst. Even if he hadn't known her for that long, that wasn't like the warrior. He turned to the two apprentices and flicked his ears to the pile of disturbed earth where his and Cedarpaw's fresh-kill was buried. "Sorry we can't finish the contest today." He meowed to them. "We'll continue tomorrow, if this doesn't turn out to be more urgent. Until then, take the prey back to camp."
