Painpaw sat where Wolfstorm wanted them to meet his ear twitched angirly. He was still upset from his mentor yelling at him at the previous session, but oh well that was in the past. Painpaw sighed and looked at the ground, he was better off not showing emotions Her and smiling...geez remembering how Wolfstorm kept..smiling yesterday. Painpaw put on a blank face and waited for Wolfstorm..

Wolfstorm fairly bounced into the clearing. Despite being a warrior, she still had all her liveliness and hyperness as when she'd been an apprentice. "Good morning!" She mrrowed, beaming at Painpaw. She noticed his blank face, and wrinkled her nose. "A smile never hurt," she teased. "Anyway. Since we did battle training yesterday, we're doing hunting practice today. We only skimmed the surface of it yesterday," She wisely left out the incident, "but you knew at least how to catch a mouse. But not all prey is caught the same way. The method is different for rabbits, squirrels, birds, what have you." Her eyes lit up. "Ooh, perfect timing!" A rabbit nibbled delicately at the grass not ten feet away. She lowered her voice to a whisper. "You ready? To hunt a rabbit, it will smell you before it sees you, and as with all prey, keep your pawsteps light so they can't feel you. Okay?" She crouched down, weaving around out of the rabbit's sight each time it moved and stealthily crept forward. But she didn't catch it. Instead, she crept back to Painpaw. "You're turn!" She whispered cheerfully. "And Painpaw? We do need food for the elders today, so... you're going to have to kill it." She looked at him steadily.
(...did I get that right? about how to hunt rabbits anyway? =P)

Painpaw nodded and crouched down to the ground. He slowly moved forward making his paw steps light. He stopped for a few moments just to be safe and then moved forward again only to step on a twig. Painpaw winced when the rabbit jolted it's head up and sniffed the air and prepared to run. Painpaw growled and then dashed in front of it jabbing it's scruff. He felt the rabbit kicking at him but he kept a firm grip on it.
Painpaw dropped it and quickly put his paw on it so the rabbit couldn't run away. Painpaw gasped for air, the rabbit had kicked him several times. He glared at the rabbit and then looked at Wolfstorm, Was that okay?

Wolfstorm sighed, but nodded. "You can let it go then." She added. "But, unless we hunt prey, we won't survive." She pointed out. "We're cats- we cannot eat the grass and still remain healthy."

Painpaw sighed, I'll kill it. and gave a swift bite to the rabbit not letting go till it went limp. What now? he asked somewhat impatiently; I have to keep my attitude in check or I will never become a warrior...

Painpaw just stared at Wolfstorm, he held back his attitude all he could and said blankly, What do you think would be the best decision? He hated the fact that he was asking his mentor; but last time when he didn't kill the mouse he got in trouble. Painpaw had to make up for that even though he didn't seem like he had to...

"We'll patrol. I can tell hunting makes you uneasy." She noted. "C'mon, let's take that rabbit back to camp and then we'll go on patrol. But Painpaw, can you tell me why it's hard for you to hunt? not the actual catching of the prey, you know what I mean. Yes, it's not easy to take a life, and we should never take that creature's life for granted, or take joy in killing. We kill because we must, and for no other reason than to feed or in extreme cases protect ourselves should we even think killing is acceptable.."

Painpaw gave a snort and glared at Wolfstorm, You immediately think that I'm a softy and worry about killing it? Yes it is sad but no that is not why I do not kill the prey. he paused for a second, Wait. TROUBLE hunting?! What makes you say that?! Painpaw's fur rippled in anger, why was Wolfstorm making judgments about him!

Wolfstorm didn't flinch in the face of Painpaw's anger, but annoyance rose in her. "I meant that you seem to play with your prey, making it's last moments terrifying, instead of quickly finishing it off. You hunt well other than that!" Painpaw's bad attitude was starting to get on her nerves. What was with him??
(uh oh...... sounds like an explosion waiting to happen.. *runs for life*)

Painpaw kept a growl deep in his throat, he didn't want a fight with his mentor. I don't make it suffer. I let it settle in their heads that they are. about. to. Die!. Would you like to be suddenly killed without warning not knowing what happened? he challenged.

Wolfstorm's fur slowly lay flat, but the tenseness remained in her voice. "I can understand that. But I certainly wouldn't want to be taunted and not know if they were going to kill me or not. But you do have a point." She dipped her head in aquiescence.

"Well, let's get going. It'll take us a while to patrol the entire border, so we should hurry back to camp with that rabbit and start right away..." She started out walking briskly, and then broke out into a run. She felt the need to move her paws and feel the wind running through her fur..

Painpaw sighed, yes he could keep up with a running warrior WHILE carrying a rabbit. Painpaw sighed flexing his claws angirly and picked up the rabbit going back to camp...

"Patrolling remember?" All trace of hostility was gone, and Wolfstorm was her normal happy self. (lol she GRINZ!) "Oh c'mon Painpaw, be happy, smile! Don't you like getting out of camp and doing something?" She meowed, starting off in one direction.

Painpaw blinked that was right..patrol. He sighed, It is not as exciting as you make it out to be.. he mumbled to himself low so Wolfstorm hopefully wouldn't hear. Louder he said, Yes. Very exciting. he lied bleakly.
