Rosefeather shook her head. "Winterpaw, you do not have the time to waste with such." She motioned with her tail to the tiny kit.
"Wasting time?!? How do you have the right to call Smallkit a 'waste of time'?!?" Winterpaw was angry now, a rare thing for even the closest of family members to see.

Smallkit blinked her eyes shined trying to control the anger inside of her. Was this because she was small!? Smallkit shook her head staring at the ground, she was a waste of time. Maybe that's why mother left? she thought, I'm sorry Wintah-paw.

"Don't you ever blame yourself!" Winterpaw snapped. "You will become a great warrior!"
"Eventually. However, Winterpaw, I will look over this outburst, only if you immediately go back to your den. Leave Smallkit with the queens, they will look after her, they have to." Rosefeather iced her heart. Winterpaw needed to understand the difference between fate and chance. Smallkit would be dead had not Rosefeather pleaded with the queens to feed her. "Smallkit, you may understand this one day, however, focus on getting big, okay?" She whispered.

Rosefeather turned to Winterpaw, ashamed at her own actions. "Continue." She meowed, then turned away from the pair and slunk away.
Winterpaw watched the great deputy go through emotions like seasons, worried, yet somehow confused. "Let's play another game, or would you like to learn more?" She said, grinning outside, yet her soul still watched the dark red figure with head down, tail slightly dragging. What did this remind her of to make her so sad? she wondered.

Winterpaw grinned. "Let's go to my den. You can help me sort herbs. A couple piles got mixed yesterday because of the wind." She started walking towards the Medicine Cat den.

Smallkit followed after Winterpaw, Okay! she said happily; when she exited the nursery she noticed it stopped raining. Smallkit flattened her tiny ears, she missed the chance of playing in the rain.

Smallkit nodded with a sigh and then continued on following Winterpaw into the Medicine Cat Den; Mmm. It smells nice in here! Smallkit took a deep breath in but sneezed from the intake of the herbs scent.
