Smallkit looked outside the nursery while a soft drizzle of rain poured out. Smallkit whined, Where's mommy... she thought and looked around the nursery looking for her mother. Smallkit's eyes watered up, she was all alone.

Ma--moth-eh? Smallkit said in a raspy voice but heard no reply...

[Rosefeather]

Winterpaw shook the rain off her fur, only to be as cold as before. She grumbled to herself when quietly, she heard a mew. Only Smallkit could've sounded that sad, she thought with a pang of sorrow. She changed directions, hearing a soft slushing sound of the mud below her paws. The tiny kit was huddled in a miserable ball of fur. Her mother was gone, and for once, the attentive Winterpaw did not know where she was. "Hello Smallkit." She purred through the rain.

Smallkit looked over and tried to speak but her newborn voice didn't come out she hung her head and tried again louder but it only came out as a soft squeak, H--Hello! Smallkit hoped that Winterpaw knew where mother was.

M--moth--er go-gone...wh---where!? she squeaked again her voice hurting from the high pitches.

[Rosefeather]

Winterpaw laid down by the kit. "I'm sorry, I don't know where she is, but, until she comes back, I'll stay here with you." she meowed.

Smallkit smiled, Thank you she mouthed pressing against Winterpaw, Mommy gone.... she swallowed; saying sentences was difficult, Long time.. she finished.

She blinked and gasped a lungful of air so she could say the next sentence fastly, I don't even know where father is.

[Rosefeather]

Winterpaw curled her tail around Smallkit, stroking her absentmindedly. "Don't worry."

Smallkit's eyes began to close out of comfort, W-What's it like bein' an app--app-- Smallkit choked on the word "Apprentice" it was too long for her at the moment

Winterpaw almost giggled. "It's fun, but hard work. You'll be there soon enough."

Smallkit frowned, That's a lie right there.. she said in her mind, Too..long... she flicked her small tail to the entrance of the nursery also pointing with her nose to show the nearly invisible jester, What..going on? she asked.

[Rosefeather]

Winterpaw grimaced at her poor attempt to cheer the kit up. "What do you mean?" Winterpaw tilted her head. She knew from medicine cat teachings that the more you asked a kit questions and made them talk more, they'd progress faster mentally.

Rosefeather padded through the damp earth with wet paws. Her head was held high, but low for a deputy. Nothing seemed to go right at this point. Suddenly, her ears perked as she heard soft meows coming from the nursery. It smelled like Winterpaw, and the high pitches must be Smallkit.

Smallkit pouted, What going on?! What other's up too! she didn't yet grasp the concept of other clans and she WANTED to know, she wanted to know the others. All of a sudden a new smell hit her strongly that she had to bury her nose into Winterpaw's fur, Nnn New cat n-near! she announced.

[Rosefeather]

Winterpaw giggled. "That's just Rosefeather, our deputy. She won't hurt you."

Rosefeather heard the kit squeal, then Winterpaw giggle. She shook her head and kept walking, such things were beyond her.

Winterpaw smiled at the kit. "The rain will pass soon, and it'll be sunny for awhile, do you ant to play a game?"

Smallkit's face brightened, What kind of game?! she asked excitedly jumping up. We can play outside too! The rain is nice.. she said with a closed eyed smile, this was the first time Smallkit saw rain..

[Rosefeather]

Winterpaw shook her head, "Not until the rain stops, I can't let you catch a cold, my mentor might eat me!" She giggled. She paused, thinking of a fun game the kit might enjoy. "How about we play your favorite game, what is it?"

Smallkit clammed up. She didn't play with others well because she was so tiny, and the only game she played with herself was sneaking out of camp pretending. Smallkit couldn't let Winterpaw know this though, What do kit's usually play? she asked softly; this was an honest question..

[Rosefeather]

Winterpaw froze. "Uhhhh..." She herself did not know the usual games, she had always looked for plants to use for healing. She looked around franticly. When she looked down, she noticed she was lying in moss. "Let's throw a ball of moss around!" Winterpaw meowed excitedly.

Smallkit smiled Okay! and looked at the moss on the ground. She tried to tear some off but it was stuck to the ground, Smallkit frowned and then tried pulling harder but fell in the process. Smallkit growled, Darn. rubbing her semi-hurt head.

[Rosefeather]

Winterpaw's whiskers twitched in amusement. "Here, I'll do it." She flexed her shorter-than-normal claws into the slightly damp, from her fur, she assumed, moss and ripped it up. A good clump was in her claws and she grinned triumphantly toward Smallkit. "We're in a Clan to help each other out!"

Smallkit smiled widely, Th-Thanks! and put herself in a small crouch that made her look smaller and pounced at the clump of moss.

[Rosefeather]

Winterpaw rolled the moss together and set it down. "Ready... Set.. Go!"
