Thunderpaw was alone in the woods before him sat the plumpest mouse he had ever seen, he crept up on it dropping into the hunters crouch. His small muscles tensed and he prepared himself, he bagan to slowly rock back and forth. He pounced on the mouse and pinned it to the ground.
A sharp pang brought him back to reality. He was in the apprentice's den and there was no mouse, just his tail. He sighed and shifted his position. He was on his own, he looked at the stripy tail in his paws. He was rolled into a tight ball in the dirt. "Might as well carry on" he shrugged to himself and began tussling with his tail, rolling around and biting it or kicking it. He laughed to himself, he was sure that any cat watching would have thought it a bit wierd, but he didn't car. It was fun!

Flameclaws had went on an early patrol.It was easier than he thought being deputy. It did have it's advantages he really didn't have anything to do afterwards.He picked out warriors for the patrols later in the day.He walked in the woods and caught himself a nice plump mouse.HE f course caught extras for then clan and put it on the pile.When he sat down to enjoy himself a nice mouse he then remembered he had an apprentice!He quickly ate his mouse and went to apprentice's den.

Thunderpaw stopped playing with his tail and blinked as his mentor entered the den. "Hi Flameclaws" He mewed "Are we going training?".

"You bet we are.First i have to show you around Earthclan."Flameclaws said cooly.He had never been a mentor before.He looked down on the apprentice seeing himself on his first day of training."We better get going then."

Forestfur watched Flameclaws going out with Thunderpaw. His eyes narrowed. No matter how much he liked the deputy, the brown and black warrior could not shake off the fact that Flameclaws was hiding something. His frequent absenses, and dreamy expression when he got back, proved it without any doubt.

Thunderpaw felt excitement rush through his body, he was bouncing from paw to paw. "Really!" he beamed. "my first day of training!", he stopped for a moment and looked up at his deputy. One day, he too would be a great warrior, he just knew it. "What are we waiting for?" he mewed bursting out of the apprentices den.

Forestfur's eyes narrowed even more. Letting out a growl, he turned away. Sometime his friend would have to tell him where he was going.

Flameclaws sighed."Okay okay we'll get going!"He then saw Forestfur in the corner of his eye. He was suspecting him.He then got a chill down his spine.What if he knew.He took a deep breath and talked himself into focusing back onto the training.Still he had a bad feeling in his stomach.

Flameclaws saw forestfur again.Maybe he should tell him.Flameclaws shook the thought away.He could never keep a secret.Flameclaws focused back on the training.

"What are we gonna do first?" Thunderpaw mewed, pinning down his fifth leaf. Then he stopped and tried to make a serious expression, it was important he listened, this was his training! Then in the corner of his eye he caught a movement. He struggled against himself to stay still, then the urge got the better of him and he leaped at the leaf. Swatting it out of the air with one paw then landing clumsily on top of it, pinning it to the ground. "Yes! I got another one" he yowled "That's six!"

"Well it's good that you want to get to training so fast but I have to take you around to see Earthclan first,"Flameclaws said cooly.He didn't want to seem mean or anything so he decided that he would take him around part of Earthclan then do some battle training with him.It was nice to have a apprentice.He first took him to the Foresty."This is the forest.On the very edge of Earthclan is the swamp and the Lake of Darkness you are to never go there."

Forestfur peered out at Flameclaws. It had seemed like the deputy had almost told him. "Strange scents, strange scents," he mewed quietly. It was uncomfortable, sneaking up on the deputy like this. Forestfur almost turned back. Flameclaws wouldn't go anywhere with his apprentice that would jepordize his place in the Clan. Yet surely Flameclaws would feel guilt and break down soon enough...

Thunderpaw blinked "Don't come back up?" his voice was a little shaky as he repeated what his mentor told him. "But then..." he trailed off, then nodded at Flameclaws, his scared expression changing to something different. "I understand". Then he brightened up "Where now?" he mewed smiling.

So we can get to training now.Okay attack me,"Flameclaws said.He wanted to see what skills he had first before he did any training."Give me the best you got."Flameclaws had a funny feeling like someone was watching him.He shook the feeling away.

Thunderpaw nodded and tensed his muscles, his striped pelt fluffing up. he dropped into a crouch and slowly advanced on Flameclaws. His tail twitched and he pulled back to spring. He leaped an swung at his mentor with a sheathed paw that flew wide of its mark. As he landed he pounced again, barreling into the deputy's side.

Flameclaws moved quickly."You have to be very quick on your paws. Get into a good position.Now spring!" Flamelcaws could tell that he was going to learn quick.
