Winterpaw walked out of the medicine cat den. She looked for her friends, then the haunting fact hit her. She had none. Winterpaw sighed. Only StarClan would understand. Winterpaw sighed again, then padded over to the fresh-kill pile and grabbed a mouse. She took it to her favorite spot, then settled down and ate, by herself, like she did everyday, of every quarter moon, of every half moon in every moon of every season in the four seasons. She sighed again and chewed on her lunch.

So hold fast The small jet black paws of Lionpaw hit the ground making a small thud and stirring up the little dust that was beneath them. As each paw hit the ground it scent tingles of coldness up his body for Leaf bare was just around the corner. He stopped running when he came in sight of the fresh kill pile. Licking his jowls he padded up to it and chose a starling for himself. Looking around he spotted the apprentices den and made an itchy step to wards it but suddenly stopped. Sighing he looked to the warriors den and sighed again. He didn't have a mentor yet,he didn't even have friends. Scanning the camp he spotted a white cat,she was alone so he decided to go say hi. Grabbing his starling he padded over to her and sat down. Dropping his starling he smiled at her. His blue orbs warm and welcoming. "Hi my names Lionpaw,can I eat with you"?He flicked his tail and waited for a reply. |

Winterpaw stared back. "Sure." This cat had just talked to her! Her wiskered twitched at her own sillyness. She took another bite of the mouse and swallowed it down. "I'm Winterpaw. You probly haven't seen me because I'm always in the medicine cat den, getting yelled at by my mentor."

Lionpaws blue orbs widened. He had really never seen or had the chance to talk to any of the other apprentices because they were all friends already and they took one look at him and ran away. He smiled at her and took some small nibbled from his own meal. "Really your a medicine cat...why aren't you sitting with you mentor" . He thingyed his head and his ear twitched. Laying down he looked up at her and smiled again. "Even if you are a medicine cat you get to fight and battle right,o and play" ? Lionpaw really didn't know anything about clan life for he was born a loner. Pain stabbed at him as he remembered that he had led his own brother to death,as well as his sisters. Shaking it off he looked at Winterpaw again.

"Oh no, none of that. I know a few moves, but nothing like you'll learn soon. My mentor is dealing with a wounded cat right now. She keeps holding me back on my learning, so I leave the den when I can. I play when I can. Right now I.. Well, you'll laugh, but I don't really have any friends now. I was born a loner, like yourself. Sorry. I hear a lot of the Clan gossip." she smiled sweetly, hoping not to of offended him.

Lionpaws eyes widened he could never think of not playing and not fighting for the clan. "Well I don't have any friends either except for one" . Shying away he licked his chest fur and then looked at her, his blue eyes shining. He finished his starling and then held her gaze if she said o and who is that well he would only reply with....you. He smiled at her and then pawed at the ground. Going into a defensive position he narrowed his eyes. "Well do you have time to play now"?Wiggling his rear in the air he laughed and pounced aiming for her back. He was not offended for what she said only shook it away for it didn't matter at the moment.

"Oh, so you wanna play that game now?!?" Winterpaw crouched down prepared for the hit. She playfully bit his ear and rolled over on her back. "I guess now we both have a new friend." she said through fur. His blue eyes were so beautiful...

And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one As lionpaw was in the air he had his claws lightly sheathed and miss judged the distance. He looked at her embarrassed and then before he could say fox dung he was on his own back with Winterpaw nibbling on his ear. Laughing he lashed his tail and tried to push her off. As she rolled over on her back he tried to move his body so he was looking into her eyes. His face went hot and it was a good thing he had black fur. He looked up and said a silent pray to Starclan as his heart began to quicken. "Yah it sure is great" . |

Winterpaw smiled. Then, a sudden flash covered her eyes.
Dark clouds covered the sky. The forest was silent. Too silent. Then a ear-peircing yowl of pain made her center in on a small shape writhering in agony. It was Lionpaw.
As fast as it came, it was gone. Winterpaw jumped up, frightened by her vision. "I have to go." she barely wispered. Before Lionpaw could say anything, Winterpaw zipped away from the small clearing and almost tripped over her own paws as she tried to run to any place where she could talk to StarClan.

Lionpaw
Don't go Horror struck Lionpaws small face as she began to zone out. As horror crossed her own face he was knocked onto his back and before he could as what was wrong,she was gone. Did he do something wrong,was it something he did. Lionpaw dashed after Winterpaw. "Winterpaw" . A small kit like wail rose in his throat and escaped his maw and he tried desperately to catch up to her but...it was no use she was to fast. Sighing he bent his head and began to think,he had no friends,he hadn't a mentor yet...so what was he supposed to do. Shaking his head he swiped a small rock with his paw and padded to were they played and laid down. Cosing his eyes he was only left to hope that she came back. |

Lionpaw lifted his head and looked into a pretty tabby's eyes. Sniffing he held back his tears and got up. Nodding his head slightly he wen't over to the female and looked at her. "Are you my mentor" ?

"Yes, for now." Rosefeather's sharp green eyes searched the clearing, then her nose finished the job. "You'd do best to stay away from Winterpaw. She's always been odd that one." Rosefeather licked her white and red chest. "We won't go anywhere today. Today you'll learn the Clan ways. Come with me."
