Darkpaw's Med Cat Ceremony

"Oh," Darkpaw padded quickly over to the moss she kept tucked in a rock. "I need some water in this moss." Darkpaw ran to her herb stores to get what she needed.

Nodding her head, Spottednose sat there silently and watched Darkpaw's every movement. During Darkpaw's past training, she had not given her much chance to properly tend other's treatments. Tearing her gaze from Darkpaw, she looked at the frail Fireclan medicine cat and sighed. She had gone through so much in just moons and she had finally arrived in clan in one piece.

After Burningstar cleared the medicine cat den entrance, he waited around, not know what to do. everything happened so fast. one moment, Darkpaw was going to be the proud new medicine cat of FireClan. another moment, Littleflower was back, and hurt.
Darkpaw's voice brought him back to reality. Nodding like an apprentice, he hurried out to get some wet moss, and ran back. he held the moss lightly in his jaws, putting as less force on it as possible so that the water would not leak. he quickly set it beside Littleflower, and went back otuside the den so it won't be too crowded.
He gave Gingerleaf a nervous glance.

Darkpaw dripped water into Littleflower's mouth. She then sniffed the medicine cats injured foot. Sure enough it was infected. Darkpaw gently touched noses with Littleflower. Hot and dry. I need borage, chervil, spiderwebs, and I'll have to get an apprentice to check her pelt for fleas, Darkpaw thought. She ran and got the herbs she was going to need. Sitting down beside Littleflower, she began to make a poultice out of chervil. Gently Darkpaw smoothed the juices over Littleflower's infected pad. Darkpaw sniffed for any other infected wounds and found only one more, a deep scratch on the medicine cats tail. Then, Darkpaw chewed up the borage and let the healing juices drip into Littleflowers slightly parted jaws. Starclan help her! Darkpaw dressed the wounds with cobwebs, to help stop any bleeding that may occur. "We should all just let her rest now," Darkpaw spoke to the entire clan. "May we continue with the ceremony now," Darkpaw looked at Spottednose. Before Spottednose could answer she turned at came back with a couple of poppyseeds. "Eat these," she whispered to Littleflower, and held out her paw for the medicine cat to lick up the little black seeds. Darkpaw looked back at Spottednose.

Littleflower saw only fading memories of what had happen to her over the time she was gone. She could see the rain and wind forcing her to take a different path home, the two-legs chasing her into an abandoned shed. She could feel the pain blazing from her injures as she remembered the attack. A group of hungry rogues trying to find food, in her. She remembered the fierce voices of her ancestors telling her 'Darkness will come From two cats of light.Fire burns and scarlet shines,But together,The heart is tinted black.' The pool of darkness clouded over her body was slowly thinning down as she was beginning to become conscience. Needing to breath she gasped out a cough of air, awake at last.

Darkpaw was at Littleflower's side almost as soon as she woke. "Does anywhere hurt?" she asked, but went to the herb store and grabbed some thyme. "Eat this. Its thyme," she purred holding the herb out for the medicine cat.

Spottednose had heard Gingerleaf's soft meow. "She'll be alright." She replied softly in response to her and half to herself. She sighed, wondering when Littleflower will wake up and when the medicine ceremony will continue again.

Littleflower ate the herbs Darkpaw set before her. Slowly looking up, her blue eyes faded and worn, she mewed softly, "Go have your ceremony" she had heard cats talking around her about the ceremony and had seen it beginning when she had reached camp, "I'll be fine" Curling her gray tail around herself she rested her head on her paws, watching the entrance to the medicine cat den.

Darkpaw nodded and padded into the clearing. "She said to continue the ceremony," she meowed looking up at Burningstar.

Taking a last look at Littleflower, Spottednose sighed. Padding out of the den, she looked for Burningstar. With success, she met Burningstar's gaze and gave him a slight nod telling his clan to continue. Without hesitation, she carried on until she made her way to the rock, waiting for Darkpaw to follow.

Darkpaw paced gently over and sat next to Spottednose. She met Burningstar's gaze unwaveringly.

Now that Darkpaw was waiting in the right position, Spottednose waited for Burningstar's signal to start. The clan had been whispering silently and slightly off focus from Darkpaw's ceremony.

Burningstar took another glance at the weak Littleflower, then turned back to his clan. She's right, even though the medicine cat was back, Darkpaw was ready; the ceremony had to go on. He padded back to the middle of the clearing, a taillength behind Darkpaw and Spottednose, then nodded to the Earthclan medicine cat for her to continue.

Nodding back at Burningstar, she turned her gaze towards the rest of the cats. Clearing her throat, she started again, “Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your medicine cat name. Darkpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Darksky. StarClan honours your loyalty, commitment and your love towards your clan, We welcome you as a medicine cat of FireClan."

Darksky looked up at the stars, in a silent thanks to Starclan. Then she turned to Spottednose and bowed her head, as her former mentor rested her head upon her own. She licked her shoulder in respect.

Silentpaw was watching in jealousy during the excitement. He knew he shouldn't be feeling that way, but... he couldn't help it. He padded over to all the other cats gathering around and watched Darkpaw heal Littleflower. *That should be me...* he thought sadly. "What happened?" he called over the bustling of the crowd. Nobody listened. When the ceremoney started he sat quietly in the corner, knowing that he would never become the medicine cat he was destined to be, and closed his eyes letting the powers of starclan come over him. The star- pelted cats paid no attention to him, they didn't even know he was there. I wouldn't be watching me either, i would be watching the knew medicine cat. When he opened his eyes, he stared proudly at his friend when she got her medicine cat name. She deserved it! But jealousy was still a shadow hanging over his head that couldn't be ignored.
OOC: Don't worry, he's not evil or anything, he just wanted to be a medicine cat.

Darksky walked up to Silentpaw. "I was given my medicine cat name of Darksky," she meowed bursting with pride. Silentpaw looked sad. "What's wrong?" she asked him.

"N-nothing..." said Silentpaw snapping out of his depressing thoughts, "Just worried about Littleflower." He tried to look happy. Silentpaw walked over to his friend and rested his tail on Darksky's shoulder. "Congrats," he said, "I'm really happy for you. I know you will serve your clan well."

Changing the subjuect, he asked, "Is Littleflower allright? Did you get any information from her? What happened?"

Darksky shook her head. "She'll be fine now, but she isn't quite ready to share what happened to her," she meowed. "And don't worry about Littleflower. I'll take good care of her." Darksky turned and padded toward her's and Littleflower's den.

Silentpaw nodded as his friend left. "I know you will. See you around."
