OOC: Yay! Open thread! Any Fireclan cat can come. In fact, if the member who joins wants me to, I can make my temp. cat, Foxcloud, show up! ^^
IC: A dark shape twitched in the shadows of the camp wall and piled up snow. Its fire brown color with night black stripes waved as the tom rolled his shoulders stiffly. After a silent yawn, Shadowfire made his way into the open. With no patrol or hunting party to be in, the Fireclan tom had nothing to do this morning, except maybe help out by clearing paths in the snow so kits and elders could easily move about.
Slowly, Shadowfire let his pale green eyes sweep the top of the snow, almost missing the fresh kill pile. With a unhappy grumble, the tiger colored tom pushed his way over to the lump in the snow, dug up the food, and poked at a frozen mouse. His ear twitched with annoyance. New fresh kill would be needed. Most of the ones already here were frozen or slowly making their way to the stage of turning to crowfood.
With a bored yawn, Shadowfire freed the rest of the pile, and flopped down in a area of trampled snow. A somewhat stiff shrew between his strong paws. The Fireclan warrior lay stiffly there, watching the sun slowly rise, and noted after seeing that he could see his own breath, the leaf-bare was not his favorite season. The tom couldn't wait for new-leaf, and the plump prey it provided.

Firemist padded toward Shadowfire. Her paws were turning light red with snow forming around them. "Cold day," Firemist meowed looking at the frozen pile of fresh-kill. She was hungry, but she could wait. Foxcloud hadn't put her on any patrols of any kind.

"Hopefully the hunting patrol will be back soon..." Shadowfire mummbled as he bit into the warmest parts of the shrew. By now, the sun was starting to poke above some large tree. The sound of awaking warriors came to him. His pale green eyes rested on Firemist. "Nothing to do I see...."

Moonlitpaw bounced up to Firemist. "Can we do battle training?" she asked. "Berrypaw's going out." She turned puppy dog eyes on her mentor. "PPLLEEAASSEE!!"

Shadowfire was about to answer, when suddenly an apprentice burst out of nowhere. Bouncing up to Firemist. With a pur of laughter, the Fireclan Warrior rose to his paws, and scooped dirt over the remaining bits of frozen prey. "Why not? We can hunt wile we are out." the tom suggested. His pale green eyes flicking from Firemist to Moonlitpaw.

"Of course we can do battle training," Firemist glanced at Shadowfire as if to tell him not to interfere, "and perhaps you can fight Shadowfire to change up who you fight with."

Shadowfire twitched his tail in agreement at what Firemist had to say. "Where shall we do all of these things?" the tom purred before letting his mind wonder into the possiblities. Every place seemed perfect, yet had its own hidden dangers. Moonlitpaw was Firemist's apprentice, so the she-cat would have to deside the best spot.

Firemist thought. She had to pick a place with lots of prey and room for battle training. "What about the Flame Tree?" Firemist asked glancing a Shadowfire to see if he supported.

Shadowfire simply shrugged. "Lots of prey, nice and open, I have no objections. You know the best conditions for Moonlitpaw." the red-brown tabby warrior admitted, flicking his tail at a snowflake that was falling next to him. Every mentor learned what places their apprentice did better in. If a mentor took their apprentice to a muddy area, when the apprentice does better in tall grass, not only will the apprentice learn more, but there is always the possibility that if it is too difficult that the apprentice may become unreasonably stressed out, or give up completely. That is why the mentor always had to balance the difficulties out with easiness. This seemed clear to Firemist if Shadowfire had to guess.
