Ceremonies

Here are some things leaders have to say. There are the words for ceremonies, and some heads-up requirements to use such ceremonies. (All are from Secrets of the Clans, except for the warrior one, which I actually searched up from the series. xP):

Warrior Ceremony

Responsibilities ¨C patrol the borders, keep the fresh-kill pile supplied, and defend their Clanmates against attacks from enemy cats or predators.

"I, leader of _____Clan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He/She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him/her to you as a warrior in his/her return."
*Leader turns to apprentice*
"_____paw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this clan, even at the cost of your life?"
*Apprentice answers*
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name: ____paw, from this moment you will be known as _________. StarClan honours your ____#___ and your ___#___, and we welcome you as a warrior of _____Clan."
*Leader steps forward and rests muzzle on the new warrior*
*New warrior licks leader's shoulder*
*Clan calls out warrior's new name*

Apprentice Ceremony

Responsibilities ¨C chores around the camp, tending to the elders, training, and living by the warrior code.

"...kit, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as ...paw."

"(mentor's name), you are ready to take on an apprentice. You will be mentor to _____paw. ________, you have shown yourself to be a warrior of ____#____ and ____#____. Do your best to pass on these qualities to _____paw.

Deputy Ceremony

Responsibilities ¨C presides over Clan meetings when leader is absent, stands in for the leader at Gatherings if the leader is ill, organizes daily patrols, and oversees the training of apprentices.

"I say these words before (old deputy name) so that his/her spirit may hear and approve of my choice. (new deputy name) will be the new deputy of (clan)"

Medicine Cat Ceremony

Respected, but cannot have a mate or kits. They devote their lives to protecting their Clanmates in a way that ordinary warriors cannot. And they know that there is a special place waiting for them in StarClan.
Responsibilities ¨C interpret visions that StarClans sends. Protect all cats and heal them with knowledge of healing herbs.


"________, do you always promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from the rivalry between Clan and Clan, and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your medicine cat name. From this day forth, you will be known as __________. We welcome you as ____clan's new medicine cat."

Elder Ceremony

Deeply respected, and experienced to keep alive the Clan history by passing down the old stories.

"Is it your wish to give up the name of warrior and go to join the elders? (elder's name), your Clan honors you and all the service you have given us. I call upon StarClan to give you many seasons of rest."

A Leader's Role:

Responsibilities ¨C calling Clan meetings, appointing warriors, mentors, and apprentices, and deciding Clan policy and strategy with the help of their deputy. They consult other cats, like the medicine cat, elders, or senior warriors.
