Brightstream stood at the edge of the large river and looked into it. she watched her own reflection, and also the fish underneath it. She was on hunting duty, but she was slowly dozing off...
How she wished she had friends. But she's too shy to make friends on her own...
She sighed, thinking about her lonely life as a large fish swam by unseen.

Nightmoon slowly padded through the thick undergrowth, in search of herbs ( preferably horsetail for infections) for her clan. Her ears pricked as a cat scent enveloped her nostrils. She stiffened ready to be attacked by some rogue cat, she blinked in embarrisment when she realized it was a waterclan cats scent. "That's odd.." she muttered, " never seen this cat before." the stranger was crouching by the edge of the river, obviously intent on hunting prey when nightmoon called out to her. " Hey!"

Brightstream's ears pricked up when she heard someone calling to her. She looked around and spotted another cat whose scent she did not reconize. However, she seemed kind of familiar.
She slowly got up and blinked, too shy to say anything much. "Um, hi, i'm Brightstream..." she mewed, nervously kneading her paws on the ground.
did i see her in gatherings before? yeah...that was it...

Nightmoon blinked, this "brightstream" seems rather shy.. she thought nervously. " Hi, im nightmoon, you've probably seen me before, " she meowed, reading the cat's thoughts, " i'm the Waterclan medicine cat." she licked her paw and drew it over her face, " i seem to have startled you... i suppose you were hunting fish right?"

"Um, yeah..." Brightstream looked to the river, remembering what she came here for, but no fish lay on land. "Right... so, um, how are you?" she asked, not knowing what to say.
I should pay more attention in clan... she thought to herself, enbarassed that she didn't even know the clan's med cat.

" i'm... fine i guess." she meowed, narrowing her eyes. " i guess im more curious as to why you don't even know who your own clan's medicine cat is." She casually licked one black paw . " Do you not like the cats in waterclan or something?"

Brightstream's face blushed up instantly. "no, not at all!" Her tail drooped a bit and she looked down. "It's just that sometimes i feel so alone that i wouldn't think noticing others would help me make any friends... i'm too shy to talk to anyone anyways, and i even get nervous looking at anybody." she gulped and quickly sat down. well, she told someone...
Hot tears slowly formed in her eyes. "Nobody likes a cat who's too shy to even say anything..." Brightstream swallowed hard, trying to keep her tears in.

Nightmoon blinked sympathetically. "oh, im sorry i didn't realize you were shy.." she licked her chest a couple times to hide her embarrisment then looked at brightstream again, " So you say your to shy to say anything to any cat hu?" she grinned, " Well what do you think your doing right now!?"

Brightstream looked up and blinked, feeling better that she's actually talking more. She started purring and wiped her tears with a paw. Smiling a little she mewed. "Thanks"
She stood up and shook her fur. "um...can you... be my friend?" she asked, looking hopefully at the medicine cat.

"Friend, Enemy, whatever you feel like having me be!" she mewed jokingly. " Of course i'll be your friend!" her green eyes gleamed, " I'm the medicine cat, its my required duty to be nice to every cat in the clan...unless they annoy me of course."

"Actuallly" countered Nightmoon, " I don't have tons of friends..." she blinked, " more like a few very close friends... And alot of cats that i get along with." she opened her mouth in saprise at brightstreams question about what friends do, " well.. you like hunting don't you? That's something friends can do together! Or you could help me find herbs!"

Nightmoon whirled one unsheathed claw on a long stem of horsetail. " oh, its this right over here." she pointed with her tail at a stem of brightly colored leaves about 2 fox lengths tall, " just try to rip it out at the stem."

"Oh, ok!" Brightstream wandered over. now that she has her mind on all the new plants she'd never noticed before, the thought they were all so pretty and new.
she sniffed the kind of plant Nightmoon said, and ripped a couple out with her claws. "Is this enough?" she asked, bringing back a mouthful of stems, trying to balance it with the leafy parts, looking kind of awkward.

Froststar watched the two cats talk together with ease. Good then Brightstream might be of some use and have some friends. she stole one last glance and walked away with her head high.

Oceantide stepped out from behind a bush, still some way away from the rest of the cats. He looked around and saw a cat he didn't know, the medicine cat, and the leader walking away.
He shrugged and went up the Froststar.
"Froststar!" Oceantide smiled and nodded at his leader.

Nightmoon started in suprise at the new voice. She narrowed her eyes to see who it was and realized in recognition that it was only oceantide. " oh, hi oceantide." she blinked, " are you hunting?"
