Hawkflame padded out to the center of the field, his stripes helping him fade into the tall, dry grass. He felt invisible, yet deadly. the perfect combination.
he heard a rustling in the grasses ahead, and took his chance. he landed on the rabbit. in a matter of second it was over, the creature dead from a vicious bite to the neck. it might be considered foolish, even just plain stupid to strike without seeing what it was you were targeting. the prey could have just as easily been a fellow clan mate. but Hawkflame didn't care. it wasn't like he actually liked this clan anyway. there was rarely enough food, there was some nonsensical tension between clans, and to top it all off he was pulling double time with two apprentices.
Where were those two, anyway? he had told them to meet him here for a sun-high training session. not that he knew anything about the clan rules or anything, but he could teach them a few fighting moves so they wouldn't get themselves killed and how to not scare away prey. the sooner they were out of his fur, the sooner he could continue his plan to ruin his little brother...

Foxpaw went chasing wildly after prey and pouncing anything that moved, but catching nothing. He delighted in the world around him. Stumbling into the feild the redish tom took a moment to bask in the fact that his side-tracking hadn't made him so late that his mentor simply left.
"Hi Hawkflame!" He yowled cheerfully to the tabby in front of him. Foxpaw bounced around purring excitedly.

Hawkflame hissed at his apprentice. "Late. What would happen if you were late for a battle? Your own clan-mates would attack you, or mistake you for an enemy." Heck, Hawkflame would attack the apprentice anyway. He was just... too happy.
"Well, since my other apprentice is apparently not going to show up, show me your hunting stance." Hawkflame meowed.

Foxpaw smiled sheepishly at Hawkflame's hissed words. "Sorry" he chirped brightly.
Glancing around Foxpaw noticed Wolfpaw's absence. With a sort of 'oh well' shrug he dropped into a sloppy crouch.
It's not that his form was bad per say, well actually it was terrible. His paws were to far apart, his nose was practically in the dirt, and his bushy red tail stuck up like a flag

Hawkflame scowled. "Wrong. Put your tail down, you're not trying to give them a flashing sign." He circled the apprentice, using his rail to rap the apprentice's paws and chin. "Feet closer. chin up. not that high, you must know some middle ground." He hissed.
He examined the Apprentice's new form. Better, but too rigid. "And for kit's sake, at least try to make it look natural."

Foxpaw's muscles were tensed as he tried to adjust to an unfamiliar way of doing things. He tried to relax a bit, he had to be a good apprentice so he could be a good warrior, a hero.
Foxpaw was surprised by his mentor's impatience, but that must be the proper way to teach. The leader wouldn't give two apprentices to a bad mentor. Yeah, Hawkflame had to be one of the best. You just have to be mean so your apprentice doesn't goof off. Foxpaw needed to pay attention, he'd have his own one day He didn't want to teach wrong.
Dear god, poor Foxpaw. He's to naive for his own good. He's going to be really messed up by the time he becomes a warrior.
