Brokenpaw nodded, making the adjustments.
suddenly, the sparrow from the branch above flew down to the other side of the tree, its back to him. also, it was upwind. Brokenpaw slowly crept forward, running through a mental list in his mind of what to do. watch the ground ahead. don't step on anything. keep your rump down. don't move your tail.
he got as close as possible to the bird, then pounced.
(OOC: i'll let you decide if he catches it or not ^^)

OOC- Umm, okay. xD
IC- Flamingspout nodded as he made the adjustments. He listens, unlike most. Not a whiner either. Shrugging, she also noticed a sparrow. She nodded in taut approval as he crept after it, clearly keeping all that she had said in his mind. Though she hated to admit it, he was a very good listener... well, a very good apprentice overall.
As Brokenpaw landed squarely on his target, she allowed herself a small purr. "Pretty good." She mewed, nodding towards his catch. "Bury it for now, and we'll take it back to camp later. I want to do some battle training."

Brokenpaw quickly burried his catch, anxious to begin battle training, the thing he had been looking forward to most!

"Right then. Before we start, it's important for you to understand that fighting is not a game! When battle training we use sheathed claws, and go no farther than pinning one another down. Claws are only to be used in when defending yourself and your clan. Is that clear?" Flamingspout looked at Brokenpaw sternly.

Brokenpaw nodded, making a mental reminder for himself that he wasn't fighting for his territory or food sorce anymore. that meant no claws, and no teeth either. it would be a change, but he believed he could handle it. "no problem. Keep the claws in, no farther than pinning." he flicked his tail impatiently, falling into a playful fighting crouch. usually this was un-like him, but he tended to forget himself whenever he was excited or extremely happy. "where do we start?"

OOC: *stalking this thread out of boredom* Mind Foxcloud being a spectator? She won't bite! ;P
Foxcloud gave a small purr, with tail twitching playfully. Her perch was a stone warmed from the early sun's rays, shade dappling across its pale surface and the deputy's fox colored fur. "Mind if I watch how the new apprentice is coming along?"
The cold deputy gave a lazy stretch before padding across the damp grass until she was at a respectable spectator distance. Sharp yellow eyes glancing between the fellow Fireclanners impatiently for one to act first. Possibly ignoring anything the other two had said, "Well?" she questioned blankly, drawing a licked paw across her left ear, "Brokenpaw!" the yellow eyes snapped to the apprentice suddenly. Impatience clearly within her glare. It didn't help that the younger tom was in such a playful attitude. "You make the first move."
OOC: I said you wouldn't bite! *scoffs*

(OOC: of course! i don't mind ^^) Brokenpaw looked up at the cat in surprise. Though the clan was new to him, he knew this was a cat of importance. a... Deputy? yeah, thats what she was. the next one in line for the position and responsibility of clan leader. Brokenpaw's pelt heated in imbarrasment from being caught in his foolish playfulness, especially by a cat of high rank.
Knowing he had to make a good impression on the Deputy, Brokenpaw fixed his stance, suddenly serious. he eyed his mentor, looking for any weaknesses. it felt strange to do so, but he reminded himself that it was just practice.
beginning to circle, he eyed her back legs. sudenly, he pounced, faking his aim at the back legs. at the last second he pushed off against the ground, going instead for her shoulder in an attempt to knock her off balance with his large frame.
(OOC: i hope i did it right, this is my first fighting-RP.... if i did it wrong i can change it!)

OOC- Ooooh, Foxcloud has come to "Watch!" hehe, I wonder how Flamingspout with react... and yesh, your fighting rp is fine! How experienced is Brokenpaw exactly? It helps to know...
IC- Flamingspout's ears pricked as the clan deputy made her way over to them. She dipped her head in a somewhat aloof greeting. "I suppose that would be-" She narrowed her eyes as Foxcloud ordered Brokenpaw- her apprentice- to make the first move. How dare she? Deputy or not, she had no right to give him orders- orders that a mentor should be giving, that is. Why was she so interested in them anyway? The clan deputy always seemed to be going off places with a secretive, malicious intent.
As the young tom faked a pounce, she had to admit that she was impressed. I suppose he had to do a lot of the sort when he was a rouge... The jump at her shoulder blade was also a logic move. But not so hard to dodge if you're expecting an attack. She ducked swiftly to one side, and avoided his attempt by less than a mouse whisker.
The next part was easy. Making sure to keep her claws sheathed, she lashed out at the apprentice with her paws, aiming her blows at his chest.
OOC- I didn't know how good he was at fighting, so... yeah. If he's good he will probably dodge her blows, if he's not so good... then he won't.

(ooc: hm... its hard to say. he had to fight bigger cats when he was a rouge, to keep him and his sister alive. i'd say its his strongest suit, because of his size, but he has trouble dodging the quicker attacks.) Brokenpaw saw his mentor's move and dropped to the ground, attempting to fall beneath her aim. his large frame allowed her a blow though, at the top of his back.
Brokenpaw let her mometum cary her forward, just barely far enough for his next move. it had worked once or twice before, in an alleyway against a group of rouges.
Pushing against the ground with all his might, he rocketed upward into his mentor.
(ooc: hm... not as good as the last one i think. was the last bit controlling your character too much? i wasn't sure... ^^")

Flamingspout was in midair when she collided with her apprentice. Instinct told her to get on top of him, but when the pair hit the ground she was neither on top or under, but beside him. Giving her pelt a shake, she got to her feet. After putting a paw up to indicate that they were done for the moment, she gave her critique. "Your first move was too slow- if another cat was expecting an attack they could have dodged that pretty easily. But your comeback was decent. If your claws had been unsheathed I expect it would have been quite nasty."
Her tactic was now to simply ignore the fact that the deputy was watching them. Though she disapproved of their spectator, perhaps it would be best just to let her be. After all, it was well known that it was unwise to get on Foxcloud's bad side. Suppressing the urge to glance back at the fox-colored she-cat, she brought her mind back to the subject of training.
"Right then. Now I am going to attack you. Attempt to dodge me and overpower me from there." She intended to go tough on Brokenpaw this time, and throw some trickery into the procedure as well. A smile played across her lips at the thought. This was going to be interesting.
Her paws took a couple of cautious steps towards him, and she eyed the young tom as if she was scared of him pouncing at her first. When she was perched just a tail length away from him, she averted her gaze, and looked intently at a rock, a surprised expression on her maw. After a few heartbeats, she whipped her head around pounced into the air.
If this was to work, she would land on his back before he had a chance to move. Otherwise, she would land on the ground again.
OOC- ARGGHH! This whole thing got deleted, so this is the re-written version. And do you mean that Flamingspout was power-playing? If so, since she is a fully trained warrior, I don't think so... but I'll leave that to Pik.

(ooc: no, i didn't think flamingspout was powerplaying, i was worried that i was controlling her. reading back i don't really think i did... idk i was probably tired when writing that... ^^") Brokenpaw watched his mentor intently. the small smile told him that this time wouldn't be as easy. she was either playing with his mind, making him over-think her moves, or she was planning to trick him. it was maddening not to know which.
she kept a weary gaze on him, and this confused brokenpaw further. was she... scared of him? worried that he would pounce first? perhaps that was what he was supposed to do...
she suddenly looked over at something behind him, her face full of surprise. brokenpaw instinctually turned his head to find what had caught her eye, but instantly regretted it. he felt her land on his back, and his legs trembled with the weight. even though he was bulky for his age, it didn't change the fact that the other cat was older and larger than him.
his thoughts only on getting out from under her, he rolled to one side, attempting to catch his mentor off guard and allow himself a chance to counter.

OOC: Nah...you guys are doing great! ^^ Her yellow eyes flicked from each cat as their training progressed. Every paw movement, scuffled dust, and swish of the tail got inspected by the deputy. With Burningstar kept buisy with the current state of the clans, Foxcloud might have to be the one to declare Brokenpaw a warrior. So watching how far along he is now will only help in its own way.
"Right then. Now I am going to attack you. Attempt to dodge me and overpower me from there."
Foxcloud's attention snapped to a more intent mode at Flamingspout's words. This should be interesting...the deputy's mind purred as the two cats got ready for their next moves. The warrior started off with a small trick to draw the apprentice's attention away breifly. This gained a small spark of respect from the fox colored deputy, for in battle, not every cat will fight clean. The she-cat was smart to expose her apprentice to some missleading moves. Brokenpaw falling for it gave way to a displeased shine in her eyes.
Foxcloud's tail twitched slightly as she continued to watch with her commonly expressionless yet serious face.OOC: Sky, can I guess some of the people in your siggy? x3 Um...not enough info on the robots, but are the other three Ghostrider, Jayfeather, and Sora/Roxas? -shot-

OOC- Woah... I looked at the most recent posts section and had no idea why Brokenpaw was talking about transformers xD! Then I saw the "ooc" Mark of DOOOM.
Flamingspout ((Wondered what Transformers were... jk.)) smirked in satisfaction as her trick worked. But the fact that her claws were sheathed didn't help with the holding on part of the job. As Brokenpaw executed his next move, she was forced to let herself drop off his back and onto the ground. After quickly rolling over so that her belly wasn't exposed, she decided to wait a few heartbeats, to see what he would do next.
True, it's not what would happen in a real battle, but hey. You've gotta give the kid some sort of chance.

(ooc: ha! lol... XD) Brokenpaw spun, facing Flamingspout once more. the intire system of clan fighting was so different from what he was used to. in the alleyways, battles were quick and silent. you had a only a matter of minutes to attack before a twoleg would scare off both sides. because of this, any disadvantage prompted the losing side to run, and they normally did. meaning that if the two had been fighting in an alley, one would be long gone by now, depending on the damage of Flamingspout's move.
Not wasting a second, Brokenpaw flung himself onto his mentor, attempting to roll her onto her belly to pin her. pinning her meant the fight was over, that he won. all he needed to do was flip her over and he could make up for the stupid mistake of falling for her trick. (OOC: blarg... tired... i probably should've looked through my many warrior books for a better move but i was too lazy to... ... *pulls tinfoil hat(^^) down over eyes and falls over*)

OOC- By all means, join! The more the merrier!
IC- Flamingspout braced herself for the blow that was about to come, and managed to prevent an instinctive wince as she heard the the wind blowing past Brokenpaw's fur as he sprang through the air towards her crouched form. There was just time for her to jump to her paws before she was hit with the full power of her apprentice's attack. After being knocked into the hard ground by his forepaws, she kicked out with her hindlegs, in an attempt to prevent him from pinning her down- she wasn't going to give up that easy. After all, he was 10 moons old. If he had been much younger, than she wouldn't have been quite so hard, but as he was practically a warrior, he needed to know what a real battle would be like.
