No one ever really knows why Foxcloud hates them, unless she has told them. But there are always those few cats who know exactly why the ginger warrior wanted their blood. Or, they had a pretty good guess.
But how many had the FireClan deputy ever actually taken? Captured and taken prisoner just because they were victims of her hate? Three at the latest count. And they were all from the same family or band type thingy.
So Flashpaw of EarthClan had a pretty good idea why she hated him.
He wasn't anything special. Flashpaw was a calico and white tom with a plumy tail and blue eyes. He was a good fighter and strong for his age of 11 moons, but that alone wouldn't have attracted Foxcloud's attention. After all, he was still an apprentice. And there was no way that Foxcloud could know about Flashpaw's secret love of SkyClan apprentice Dreampaw. No. She hated him because of something beyond his control.
Who he was related too.
When Flashpaw was 8 moons old, Foxcloud had stolen him and held him in the FireClan camp. She said that he had been spying. She gave him the worst food in the pile, if any food at all.
Oh, and she tried to kill him.
And all that because of his relation to Treestar and Sunset.
Just why exactly did that make him a target?
They were in a war, EarthClan, SkyClan, and the HHB against FireClan and WaterClan. And Flashpaw could bet that Foxcloud wanted to rule the whole forest without loosing her precious life and little sidekick Moonlitice, who actually had been nice to Flashpaw while he was there.
Didn't change a thing. Now the evil deputy had his younger cousin and his friend.
And just because she was evil and ambitious.
Hows that for messed up?
Turning his head slightly, Flashpaw breathed in the familiar scents of the camp. Just why was his life messed up? Because he was born.

Lilypaw mrrowed at the sight of Flashpaw sulking. "I know that face." She meowed to the fellow apprentice. She knew it from her own reflection in the lake. A sullen, but thoughtful expression. Yes, she knew it well. Lilypaw licked a white paw and curved it around her ear, sitting a few tail lengths away. Her fur had a healthy gloss to it, which was surprising, since she had been sneaking out of camp to chase rogues. They all seemed to know who her mother was, except Lilypaw herself. "What's eatin your tail?" She flexed her claws slightly.

Flashpaw barely glanced at Lilypaw as he muttered, "Not what, who." Digging his thorn sharp claws in the dirt, he let his glare scorch the leaves on the ground. "She ruins EVERYTHING!" Hate was branded into Flashpaw's blue stare, but he couldn't care less. It was worth it. "In answer to your question, it's Foxcloud I'm talking about. There was peace until she came into power. Now... well, you know what it's like now."

Rippedtail stared at the camp. It appeared to be all foggy, her own vision appeared to be failing her. Rippedtail hissed quietly. She remembered the time in the woods. The lines, the colors, each individual leaf, were so clear it almost hurt to look at them. Rippedtail longed for that clarity, that limpid vision, the feeling of Crystal-ness. Yes, that what I'll call it, being Crystally. It's a really good feeling! Rippedtail with a moment of happiness. She wanted to be crystally again, but how without the entire camp catching her? Not going to happen... Maybe I can get crystally without drawing blood and attention...
Rippedtail pondered what to do. Then a single idea crossed her mind, it was dangerous yes, but she wanted to be crystally so badly it almost hurt. Rippedtail ran through the woods as fast as she could, coming to a skidding halt under the tree in which she'd discovered this new feeling. She climbed the tall pine tree until she was about 25 feet off the ground. Rippedtail looked down at the dizzying height. All ready her head began to clear. This is going to work! she thought with excitement. Rippedtail took and deep breath, and plunged off the branch at rapid speeds. The world seemed to blur by as she tumbled. Rippedtail's tail spun her around in mid-air, around and around, just trying to land of her feet. But at this height, she'd still be greatly hurt. She may even die. The thought replused her, Rippedtail wondered why she was even plunging anyway. Then she remembered that she was attempting to be crystally. Her reflexes took over, and a black paw flash out. Her claws snagged a thick branch, and Rippedtail spun a whole circle before attaching her other claw to the branch. She peered her amber eyes down at the ground, only about 5 feet away. She got lucky, a few more seconds she be crow-food... Rippedtail scurried back to the ground the safe way. Then the realization hit her the world was so bright. It was clear and powerful. The lines of everything were so sharp that she flinched from a blade of grass. Rippedtail was crystally!
She ran back to camp, hoping this new feeling would help her understand some things. Her mind seemed to hold it's own at this point, monitoring her senses but still able to produce it's own thought pattern. She had to share this, it could be a good battle technique. Unfortunately, it could cost many lives before the actual battle. Rippedtail had to come up with something else... As it were, she stepped into the camp, and everything was shocking. The dens seemed rather dirty, and all the pelts around her were brighter then usual. Flashpaw was an surreal color of white that she never noticed before, he was pure white, like pure pure white... Rippedtail walked over to him and the medicine cat. "How's it going?" she asked, her own voice hard and sharp. It wasn't unwelcoming though, far from it, her voice actually sounded inviting. Rippedtail was sure her eyes were dark and sharp though, there was no avoiding it.

"Terribly." Flashpaw wasn't one to be blunt, but right now he wasn't feeling quite himself. "To be frank, completely suckish. Um... is that even a word?" He didn't really care if it wasn't, it spoke true at the moment. But still, he didn't want to appear dumb. He was a proud cat, and that would always be true. Pride isn't something that easily saps away.

Rippedtail sighed. The apprentice was making her less crystally, less focused, less intense. She suppressed an angry snarl. As it were, she'd probably only succeed in petrifying completely. She felt stronger then anyone, even Treestar, she felt she could do anything she wanted to. Rippedtail was on top of the world, and no one could knock her down and out. The only she needed to do was stay crystally, not allow this brain-missing apprentice pull her back into averageness. If only he understood what this felt like, then maybe he wouldn't try so hard to make less crystally... Rippedtail thought. She suddenly thought the entire world was out to get her, and Flashpaw was their leader.
"That. Is. Terrible," Rippedtail said threw mildly clenched teeth, she couldn't get over the fact that this apprentice was trying to pull her back to averageness, not let her be different, not let her be special. She narrowed her amber eyes, their bright cheery color faded into an almost black tone. That paired with her black pelt and single stripe on her tail, could be rather intimidating. "No, 'Suckish' is not a word." Rippedtail flicked her tail in irritation. She would show this foolish apprentice that she was not easily manipulated. Rippedtail was strong.

Flashpaw glanced up at Rippedtail in confusion. "What's your problem? You came over here all cheery, cats assume that if you do that you mean to cheer them up. You asked, I answered. Not my fault you don't like the answer." He rolled his eyes at the older cat's last words. "Don't care. If you won't be nice, I won't be literate. So thinks are suckish"
Glaring at the ground he flattened his ears against his head. Did she have any idea what he had been trough? Flashpaw raked the ground and looked at the slashes blankly. He had used to be happy all the time. Now he could only get away from the hurt around Dreampaw. He needed to see her, and soon. It was becoming a need.

OOC: Mind if I join? Seems like Flashpaw needs some lovin, even though it isn't from the cat he wants, hopefully some sisterly love from Songpaw would be enough for now. BIC: SONGPAW Songpaw strolled into camp, just coming back from trying to hunt. But, unfortunately, she came back empty-pawed. Songpaw let a quiet sigh escape her, she knew it would be a futile attempt trying to hunt in the middle of leaf-bare. She scanned the camp, seeing who was all around. Songpaw quickly spotted her brother, along with Lilypaw and Rippedtail.
She felt worry course through her when she saw the look on Flashpaw's face. Not only that, he looked more than ready to literally rip Rippedtail's tail off. Songpaw could only guess to well what had her brother in the mood he was in now. Without any hesitation, Songpaw made her way over to the small group of cats.
Not saying a word to either she-cat, Songpaw sat next to her brother and pressed her body against his, hoping he could draw some comfort from it. She was letting him know in her own silent way that he wasn't in this whole thing alone, for she was related to Treestar and Sunset also. Songpaw tried locking her gaze with Flashpaw's, if the message wasn't clear in her body language, then he should be able to read it in her eyes that they were in this together. Songpaw then pressed her nose to the tip of his ear, and in a quiet only meant for his ears, she said, Calm down Flashpaw.
Don't take your anger out on Rippedtail, she doesn't understand what we're going through, and we can't tell her. We can't take our anger out on other cats who don't understand our positions, because if we did, what kind of cat would that make us?
