Dawnstar padded through the dense forest, her paws slow. She was daydreaming, a pastime of hers, something she had always used as a kit to get away from her troubles. A one-cat patrol, the perfect excuse to go away and think. She realized vaguely that she was headed toward the EarthClan border, and when she reached it, her paws automatically froze and she sat. Staring out at the trees, she remembered her kit-hood. It hadn't been pleasant, but her best friends had gotten her through.
Sadness throbbed in Dawnstar's heart as she remembered her friends. Moss, Amber, Light, and Runner. When had she last seen them? They had all escaped together, all come to the Clans, but since then... not a glimpse. Tears blurred her vision as she realized she was lying to herself. Yes, she had seen them. Just not for a while.
She had loved Light, and loved him passionately. But that was in the past, a dreadful mistake that she would never make again. Galaxyshadow was here for her now. But Dreampaw... Dreampaw was heading down that dark road.
Dawnstar remembered that EarthClan had been where Moss had found a home, but she hadn't seen Moss since... well, since she had discovered the truth about her best friend and Runner. At least she was still on speaking terms with Moss... is she ever saw Moss again. Amber on the other hand... some things are best left unsaid. Some things should never be relived.

Mossstream was walking through her territory. She was thinking about Runner. Sadly though, she hadn't seen him in forever... She was rarely allowed to go to gatherings. She also hadn't seen Amber, Light, or Dawn in a long time. We all left for the clans together, but we got split up, and now we hardly see each other... she thought.
I wonder if Dawn and Light still see each other, Mossstream wondered. They seemed perfect for each other during that journey... She scented the air. A slight airy scent washed over her. Mossstream had wondered over to Skyclan. Who lives there again? Oh right, Dawn does, she thought, and looked over the border.

Dawnstar watched a figure come through the trees on the other side of the border. Though she knew she should probably leave, she just stayed and watched the cat approach. If it was Flashpaw she should probably chew him out... but sometimes you just aren't that lucky. The cat was female, a tortoiseshell with blue eyes...
Dawnstar's eyes flew open. Sometimes unluckiness runs away screaming. "Moss!" she gasped. Running down to where the she-cat had stopped, she skidded to a halt and looked right at her old friend. "Great StarClan, Moss!" She breathed in her best friend's familiar scent, now interlaced with EarthClan's, she smiled slightly. Fate has a funny way of bringing up things out of your mind.

Mossstream looked up. Oh my, look it's Dawn! she thought and bounded towards her friend. "Wow, Dawn, I haven't seen you in forever, how's everything?" she asked. Wait, she's probably not Dawn anymore, I'm not Moss anymore, I'm Mossstream, I'm sure she has a warrior name now... "Actually it's Mossstream now."

Dawnstar smiled slightly. "Mossstream fits you," she smiled, glancing down at her brown paws. "My name was Dawnstreak," she said softly. Glancing back up, amber eyes soft, she whispered. "But I go by Dawnstar now."
Staring at her friend, she just smiled. "Things have been... better. They were really bad, really awful for a while. It was... terrible. But now things are straitening out."

Mossstream was stunned for moment. Dawn, Dawnstar, wasn't a warrior. She was a leader. The leader of the clan that was allied with her clan. They could work together or something like that... "Wow! You're leader? That's great, I'm sure your mother would be very proud," she meowed warmly.
"That's not good, but at least it's starting to look better," Mossstream said. I wonder if she's seen Runner lately... "Have you, um, seen Running at the gatherings, I mean I'm sure he as a warrior name by now, but I haven't seen him in forever..."

Dawnstar nodded her head slightly to her friend's praise. Her tail flicked. Her mother had been very proud, she had given Dawnstar her last life. The old life, her past one, had vanished. But the memories were still there, the haunting memories, the things she had tried so hard to protect... She hated her past, truly, completely hated it. But she could never hate her friends, not even Amber and Light.
Shaking her head, Dawnstar looked deep into space. "I haven't seen anyone for almost twelve moons..." She jolted and glanced back at Mossstream. "And Runner not for even longer. Not since the last time I saw you...." she smiled weakly. The day she had found out about Moss and Runner...

Mossstream looked at her paws. "Okay then..." she meowed sadly.[/blockquote]

Dawnstar stared up at the sky. "In fact, it has been moons since I said good-bye to Light and Amber... and not on good terms. But I'm over that now." Her eyes were alight with an inner fire. She had fought so hard to keep from breaking apart over that moment, had fought so hard to keep it away. She didn't want him back, she wanted him gone from her life.
