Echostep padded quietly, threading her way around the trees. Her pretty copper eyes were really focused on anything; she'd come out here hunting, but her thoughts had wandered and had taken her emotions with them. She wasn't sure what she was doing, where she was going, or if she really wanted to be alone...
A soft sigh drifted through the trees. Things were so confusing lately...

Silentsorrow padded through the trees. Well, it was more like limped through the trees. Sense the day of her accident, she was denyed being a warrior. *sigh* Her eyes somewhat lay flat on her head as she continued forward. It wasnt so bad, being a Medicine cat. But sometimes . . . sometimes she just wished she knew what it was like, being a warrior. Starclan, it seems, had other plans for me. She continued to pad, until she heard the soft noise of a sigh. Tilting her head up, she pricked her ears listening. Her jaws parted ever so slightly, until she smelled another cat. Walking towards it, she soon saw Echostep. "Oh! Hello Echostep." She smiled sweetly at the Skyclan Warrior.

Echostep's heart skipped a beat, startled by a voice. The she-cat had been so lost that in her own thoughts that she hadn't even scented Silentsorrow coming. Still in a daze, she looked up and blinked slowly. "Oh. Oh!"
She shook her head, and her copper eyes cleared. "Hello Silentsorrow." Her white muzzle dipped toward the leaf-strewn ground, and the warrior smiled back at the Medicine Cat, "What brings you out here?"

Laughter lit up in Silentsorrows eyes. "Exploring. Actually, i just wanted to get out of the den. So far, no one needs me, and i wanted some peace. Being a Medicine cat can be hard sometimes." Her dark sapphire eyes stared curiously at Echostep. "What brings you out and about, if you dont mind me asking." She felt like something was troubling Echostep. But i could be wrong.

"I can imagine." Echostep meowed, "... Especially with everything that's been going on lately..."
Echostep's eyes darkened, but she simply shrugged to Silentsorrow. "I just needed some time to think."

Silentsorrow knew she shouldnt press people, but she still wanted to know. "Are you sure? You know you can tell me anything." Though she wasnt close to Echostep, she really did care. Not just because she was a Medicine cat, but Silentsorrow cared for everyone. Except herself. It was so odd sometimes.

Echostep faltered for a moment, and stared deeply into the forest. After a moment, she blinked, recognizing their surroundings, but without much surprise. Why should she be surprised, after all, when she'd walked this very path with her own father so many times as an apprentice?
She sighed again. "I'm just a bit overwhelmed, I suppose." A side-long glance was thrown at Silentsorrow, before the brown, white, and blond she-cat padded to an old, moss-covered log. "I guess this whole alliance thing has me thrown. I feel like I'm out of the loop... Just wandering blind..."

Silentsorrow tilted her head to the side. She hobbled over to stand somewhat near Echostep. "I hear you. I dont like this alliance thing one bit. Back then, the clans only watched out for their own clanmates. Now, we are choosing sides. I doubt that Starclan is happy with this." She shakes her head, a tired sigh escaping her.

Smiling weakly, Echostep sank to her haunches, still staring at the decaying log. "I'm no Medicine Cat, but I have to agree with you. It's like we can't go two moons without having a battle, and I can't remember the last Gathering I went to..." She sighed heavily, and placed her paw on the old trunk. "Sometimes I wonder about my father... What he might think..."

Silentsorrow tilts her head to the side slightly. "I agree. All this blood-shed. And i feel like, im not good enough for my clan." She shakes her head, a tired sigh escaping her. "I just hardly became a full medicine cat about a moon ago. I dont know if ill be very much help. And the Gatherings seem to be heating up."

"Of course you're good enough." Echostep looked at Silentsorrow seriously, "Don't doubt yourself; just do your best. That's all we can ask." The striped she-cat allowed herself an understanding smile, gently directed at the young Medicine Cat. "But, to tell you the truth, I felt the same way when I first became a warrior."

Though she twitched her ears at the she-cat's sigh, Echostep was silent for a moment before answering.
"Sometimes." She finally replied quietly, extending her claws and lightly scratching the moss of the trunk. Times like now.

Silentsorrow had a small smile. "I bet its wonderful. Being a warrior and all." She smiles weakly at Echostep. "Well, im glad you talked with me, Echostep." She smiles sweetly at the she-cat.

Wonderful?
She knew Silentsorrow had been robbed of her chance at becoming a warrior, but... Echostep thought of running through the trees with a patrol, of smelling the warm scent of fresh-kill still dangling from her jaws... but also of the long nights spent sitting vigil over fallen friends, of nursing wounds that would ache long after they turned to scars.
"That's a matter of opinion." Blinking, the she-cat tilted her head toward the younger cat. Her whiskers twitched, and she purred, "Any time, Silentsorrow."

"Yes, i suppose you are right." Silentsorrows dark sapphire eyes seemed to glow slightly brighter. She was happy that Echostep had spoken to her! This moment made her feel right about being a Medicine cat. I guess being a warrior has its ups and downs. she realized She sits down finally. "Well, im sure Starclan has a reason for everything to happen. But in the end, it will be much better."

"Yes." She dipped her head in agreement, smiling at the change in Silentsorrow's expression. "And, y'know, I'm no Medicine Cat or anything, but if you ever want some help..." Echostep trailed off sheepishly, hoping she hadn't offended the younger cat just when she seemed to be cheering up.

"Oh, of course! I would luv talking with you, Echostep." Silentsorrow smiles happlily at the other she-cat. She didnt take it offensive or anything. She was happy to have someone else to talk to. Even if im a Medicine cat, i still need to have a sociable life! And if shes willing to talk to me, how could i ever refuse? Shes so kind! "But only when you are free, most likely. I dont want to get in the way of your warrior duties."

Echostep's smile widened, and her eyes sparkled warmly. Then, she chuckled. "Oh, don't worry. I have a way of being everywhere at once when I want to be." One coppery eye winked slyly, mischievously, "Some of the younger warrior apprentices hate me for it."

Silentsorrow was intruged. "Really? Well, they shouldnt hate you for that! All the better for their pelts to be saved, eh?" She grins happily, her eyes twinkling. Ah, i remember the good old days. Getting in trouble by the warriors. She chuckles happily. Good times.
