A long, long time ago, there were the original four Clans: ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, and ShadowClan. They lived peacefully by the lake home that Brambleclaw, Squirrelflight, Tawnypelt, and Crowfeather had found for them.
Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw had children: Hollykit, Lionkit, and Jaykit. All was very well by the lakeside, and peace went on for many, many moons.
Eventually, though, cats became spiteful towards half-Clan blood, and non-Clan blood. Many Clans had half-Clan and non-Clan blood in them, ThunderClan being the most. War broke out, and peace was destroyed in a torrent of rage and violence.
Then, one hero rose out of the midst: ThunderClan's medicine cat, Winterleaf. Winterleaf had recently had a sign from StarClan about a new home. StarClan had told her that she must lead the survivors away from the vicious war. StarClan would stay here and watch the battle to the very end. When the war ended, the old StarClan would disappear. When Winterleaf's followers would arrive at the new territory, anyone who died there would start the new StarClan.
Thus, Winterleaf followed StarClan's instructions. She gathered up anyone who would come with her. Then Winterleaf began leading them to their new home. StarClan had shown her where it was and what it looked like. For three moons Winterleaf and her followers trekked to the new home. Many more cats died, and the survivors began to believe they would all die out without ever finding the new home.
But Winterleaf's faith was strong, and she led the cats through snow and rain, through ice and heat, until eventually the cats arrived at the new home. There were only enough cats to form three Clans, so they did: AirClan, RainClan, and LeafClan were born. LeafClan's name was to honor brave Winterleaf, who had led the cats through thick and thin without ever losing hope. The day after they arrived at the new territory, Winterleaf died, and became the first cat to be a part of the new StarClan. The cats mourned Winterleaf's death, but they also celebrated that they had found peace at last.
