Hiddenpaw stayed quiet, but eventually nodded. She set off to the warriors den, blue eyes set stubbornly.
Forestfur looked up in surprise as his neice came over with Lilypaw. "Hello you two."

"Hi Forestfur, we need you to answer some questions." Lilypaw looked at Hiddenpaw and gave her a reassuring nudge.

Forestfur sighed. "No. I know what this is about, and Hiddenpaw isn't ready."
Hiddenpaw hissed. "When are you going to stop saying that! I want to know! It is my past, I have a right to know who I am when I want to know! Stop telling me I can't!"

Lilypaw's tail lashed. "Hiddenpaw has lived long enough to know why others glance at her as she passes, whisper about her behind her back, teach their kits not to talk to her, and avoid her presence altogether." Lilypaw forgot she was talking about Hiddenpaw and named all the stuff the Clan had done to her. "Wouldn't you rather have her find out the truth from you, than risk her life finding some dead end?!?!"

Lilypaw perked her ears. "Sunset?" The name sounded familiar. It wasn't a Clan name, she thought, but it wasn't a Tribe name. So Sunset was probably a rogue, loner, or, she shuddered, a kittypet. "Who's Sunset?"

Forestfur sighed and crossed his paws. "You two can keep a secret, correct? Well, Sunset is my sister, and Hiddenpaw's mother. She leads a band of rogues out in the High Hills. Our father is Treestar, and our mother is Moonrise. She did not grow up in the Clan, and when she had her litter, she sent Hiddenpaw here to grow up with EarthClan. I believe she wanted her here to know that her heritage is safe."

Forestfur sighed. "Yes it does. Cats treat you different because of your parents, correct Lilypaw? They treat any cat not from the Clans different. They remember that Hiddenpaw wasn't Clanborn, no matter if she is part Clan. And they hold that against her."
Hiddenpaw bit her lip in shocked silence.

Lilypaw hissed. "It's not our fault our parents decided to find adventure elsewhere! Why should we be punished for something we can't control?!?" Lilypaw took a deep breath and looked at Hiddenpaw. Her new friend looked frozen. "Hey," she nudged her gently,"we'll show them that we're as good, no, even better than a Clan-born."

Hiddenpaw nodded slowly. "Thanks for telling me Forestfur," she said quietly. She padded slowly away, then, when out of earshot of her uncle, she turned to Lilypaw with a mischievous smile. "Wanna go on our own adventure?"
