Painpaw glared, but did as his mentor said. He flattened himself feeling the fur of his belly rub against the ground. Painpaw walked forward slowly keeping his tail barely an inch of from the ground; he thought he was doing well until his left back leg stepped onto his front right leg's paw from the back. Painpaw winced and stopped.

What now!? Painpaw growled, his voice full of anger and frustration.

"No need to get frustrated. Here, I'll show you." Wolfstorm meowed. She crouched down until her belly nearly touched the ground and glided forward, her paws making no vibrations. She moved slowly, putting each paw down carefully... "See? Now you try, Painpaw."

Painpaw looked away, he was too irritated to do anything right now..though...if he didn't do this it may delay him becoming a warrior. Painpaw thought on this for a moment and then looked at Wolfstorm, Fine
He copied what Wolfstorm did keeping his pawsteps light and making the steps shorter only wobbling slightly. Painpaw hide the smile on his face from Wolfstorm but looked back at her his face blank.
Was that fine?

Wolfstorm grinned. "Perfect! See? All it takes is patience!" Was it just her imagination, or had Wolfstorm seen a smile on Painpaw's face? She smiled to herself again. perhaps, perhaps not... "Very good! Now, try actually catching a mouse!"

Painpaw looked away, Her and smiling...geez he thought and then looked at Wolfstorm, How can I if you haven't taught me anything on scenting or tracking things? Painpaw challenged his dark eyes skimming her face wondering if she had an answer.

"Surely you know what a mouse smells like? You've eaten one haven't you?" She meowed. "As for scenting, just put your nose to the ground and single out that single scent, and then follow it." She said, unpreturbed by Painpaw's challenging statement.

Painpaw scowled, Some lesson he muttered and stalked off to find mouse. It didn't take very long, maybe a few minutes ... it seemed forever for Painpaw though. He was very impatient at the moment. He muttered under his breath About time...
He crouched down his belly flat on the ground and he didn't move. The mouse a few feet in front of him nibbled on a nut; unaware of the black apprentice. Painpaw gently lifted himself off of the ground moving forward and then let himself be low to the ground his paws underneath him. The mouse stopped nibbling and lifted its tiny head.
Before it could move Painpaw dashed behind it and then put it under his paws his claws out. Painpaw didn't kill it though just let it squirm around underneath his paws, Painpaw looked down at the mouse, Why bother... he muttered, but let it keep up with it's desperate game of hope...

"Painpaw!" Wolfstorm meowed angrily. "Don't torture it like that! Would you like to be played with and teased, not knowing what was going to happen to you?" She reached under Painpaw's paw and swiftly killed the mouse with a blow. "We should be thankful for prey, and make sure that they die painlessly! They feed us, keep us strong- we shouldn't cruelly tease them." She said sharply.
(wow- Wolfstorm's serious for once lol)

Painpaw's fur bristled, Then why should we suffer through pain when they are gone. Why should WE suffer from the other clans!? he growled. This wasn't fair! He caught the mouse, Wolfstorm didn't ask for him to KILL it

Wolfstorm sighed. "There's no easy answer for that..." She meowed, gazing levelly at her apprentice. "We would all live in peace, but for those cats who love war, power, greed, or other such desires.." She turned away and looked at her paws. "We suffer because of those cats; they don't care whom they hurt in thier bid for power...and we, as upright, true warriors who stand for right, we cannot allow them to succeed..."
(did that make any sense? And who was the 'they' in Painpaw's first question?)

Painpaw glared, They why don't we DO something about it instead of just sitting here!? but didn't bother waiting for the answer, Painpaw began to walk away...he was tired of talking with Wolfstorm now...they got the mouse in the end, why was she complaining?

Painpaw stopped his fur bristling, Sacrifices are necessary.. he thought and went back to pick up the mouse, See you tomorrow then.. and then left carrying the small mouse..
