listen to that melody echo__ A dark form snaked her way through the golden grass, happily allowing the sun shine on her pelt. She was glad to get away from camp. The cats back there kept on staring at her. And the reason: her unusual bright blue eyes. She loathed the color of her eyes. Her teeth gritted together in fury. It wasn't their fault that she had flashing eyes. But they should no already not to stare at them; it was rude. One paw flattened some grass. Thats why she left for awhile; to get away from them. Her eyes always gave her unwanted attention. It always bothered her when all optics were on her. Creepy was the weird that explained everyone staring at you. A shiver ran up her spine and she took a long sigh.
Now was not the time for her to be thinking about this. She was supposed to be hunting for the clan. Melodyecho dropped into a crouch and started to move through the golden field. Eyes closed and she inhaled, trying to find a scent that was prey. Nothing. The she-cat was about to let out a frustrated hiss, but stopped when she scented the familiar flavor. Mouse. Instinctively she began to move forward in the golden grass. When she moved forward she kept following the mouse's scent. It took a bit of time, but she got to a spot where the scent was overwhelming. Her mouth began to water, but she got in control of herself before she could make a stupid mistake. Her unusual bright eyes scanned around her, looking for the brown fur to reveal itself.
Then she saw the furry brown creature nibbling on a grass seed. A wicked grin spread across her face. Found you. Eyes flashed and she wiggled her haunches, muscles bunching together. Thankfully the wind was blowing away from her so the creature would never know what was coming to it. Easy prey She waited for the right time to pounce and waited a heartbeat. And then she launched herself in the air and landed on top of the writhing prey. Not wanting it to feel any pain she gave it a quick death bite. It went limp. Satisfied, she began to dig a hole next to her. When the hole was big enough for the mouse, Melodyecho picked up the prey and dropped it in. As quickly as she dug the hole, she covered it back with dirt; her prey safe under the dirt.
Of course the dark silver tabby was going to stay out here longer. There was no way she was going back to the cats who wouldn't stop staring. "Stupid eyes." she mumbled to herself and looked up at the sky. It would be nice to not have worries and float around in the sky. Black-ringed tail curled around her small paws. She closed her eyes, letting the sun's rays to warm up her fur. The femme would stay out here for awhile and walk around. She wasn't assigned for evening or hunting patrol, so she worked with her freedom as much as possible.
The slender tabby began to walk through the golden field, scaring away the prey that were near her. She wasn't in the mood to hunt anymore. Up ahead there was a large flat rock. When she got to the flat rock, she leaped up and landed on it with a faint thud. Head turned to look at the ocean of grass. The wind picked up again and she watched as the filed shone like dazzling gold. Her eyes alit with surprise and a smile was on her face. "How beautiful," Her whispered tone was filled with awe. The rock was large enough to fit three cats, but she didn't mind the size.
Feeling drowsy, she layed down and curled her tail around her paws. But she didn't go to sleep, she just lay there, looking at the beauty of the field. A couple of birds sang their gorgeous song. It was like a lullaby. This is how she liked to spend her free time. [/color][/blockquote]

OOC: just to tell u, my cat Goldeneye has weird eyes too! =O well, sorta. One of them's golden-amber, the other one is green. weird??
IC: There was a rustle in the tall golden grass. Without looking carefully, nobody would have noticed anything out there. But there he was, a golden-brown tomcat with broad shoulders. His pelt practically blended in with the golden stalks of the vast field. He knew that there weren't as much prey around these fields as the other parts of the territory with denser grass and trees, but he liked it here. It was more peaceful without the hunting patrols and training sessions, though the sunrise and sunset patrols check this area because of the borders.
But it was only almost sunhigh right now, and there were no patrols in sight. And almost no cat in sight as well.
Goldeneye stopped in his tracks when he heard a light thump to his right. He turned his head to see a dark silver she-cat lie down on a large flat rock not too far from him. Her pelt looked like almost the same colour as that stone, except that it shone while the rock was dull in comparison.
He noticed that Melodyecho seemed to be enjoying the sunshine. Indeed, the sun warmed Goldeneye's pelt. He was going to go talk to her, but decided against it; he didn't want to bother her. He knew how annoyed she could get sometimes, even though he'd never actually talked to her much before. Since he was deputy, he knew all the cats in the clan, but seeing as he was busy with all his duties, he never got to know many cats well, except his leader Mossheart.
I'll leave her to enjoy herself he thought to himself and was going to leave quietly back to camp, when he accidently stepped on a dry stick, and made a loud crunching sound. He flattened his ears at his mistake, and turned to see if Melodyecho heard him.

m e l o d y e c h o There was peace surrounding her, so she stayed quiet, letting herself loose. The wind blew the scent of a cat toward her--it was on of her clanmates--but she ignored it because she didn't feel like talking to anyone right now. Eyes closed and she allowed herself to drift slowly to sleep with the sun shining down on her back.
Crack.
Eyes fluttered open and she jumped to her paws, lips drawn back in a snarl. "Who's there?" If it was in intruder she would give it some scars to remember her by. Blue-aqua eyes scanned the golden grass for any cats. None. She pulled back in surprise. There was a cat's scent, and the sound of a cracked twig. How could there not be anyone in sight. Frustrated, she scanned again; this time looking more carefully. And thats when she saw the golden tom looking at her. Brows pulled together in confusion. She did nothing to him, so why was he staring at her? Was it her eyes? Immediately, Melodyecho looked away from Goldeneye. Her eyes always made her self-conscious.
The dark silver cat looked down at the tom again she could see his ears were flattened against his skull, but there was no anger. Mistake? But then she realized that he was looking back at her because he had broken the twig. Another thing clicked. He must have seen me laying on the rock, Melody echo glanced at him again, but must have not wanted to disturb me. Finally some cat had enough sense to leave her alone when she wanted it. A smirk twisted on her face. Goldeneye probably didn't want to face her fury, but surprisingly she was in a good mood since she layed down on the rock.
Gracefully, she lept off the rock and walked slowly up to him. Melodyecho dipped her head to him. Deputy Goldeneye. Her face was one of surprise, but she smiled. "It's okay. I won't bite your head off, Goldeneye." The more she got closer to him she could see one of his eyes were golden-amber and the other green. Eyes widened. He had unusual eyes just like her. Thats one thing they had in common. But unlike her's, she liked his eyes. They fit perfectly with the golden tom. She would have commented that he had beautiful eyes, but that would've seem weird.
"What brings you out here?" Her eyes lit up in the sun and made them glow radiantly. Black-ringed tail flicked patiently behind her. Might as well make conversation. The femme had nothing else to do now. [/blockquote]

They didn't know it, but sunwhisker was watching the two cat's intently. When melodyecho stormed out of the camp that day, she seemed angry. Sunwhisker wasn't dumb, she knew Melodyecho was self concious about her eyes. She was wrong about why cats stared at her, they were staring at her because her eyes were capturing and beautiful, not because they are unusual and weird. You don't see anyone making fun of Goldeneyes like that...

OOC: wow i'm STILL impressed at your posts! =O So gooood *gives yet another reputation* btw, i'm TRYING (lol attempting) to post longer too but it's mostly just unimportant blabber. >.<
IC: The golden-brown tom was expecting Melodyecho to yell at him or something for disturbing her peace; that was what she usually did when she looked annoyed back in camp. Even though he was deputy, he knew that clan respect only means so much to some cats, and that to others, he was just another average tom, and he never wanted to get on a she-cat's nerves.
Goldeneye noticed that the dark silver she-cat spotted him, then for some reason turned away for a second. Even from that far, he saw a bright blue shine from her eyes before she hid them from his view. So that's what all those other cats were talking about when they always said that her eyes were so stunning, he thought, but didn't think much of it. But so what? it's not like she chose it that way, and it's not like i chose mine either, He didn't really care much about his own eyes looked, but then again, he's been deputy long enough for cats to have already gotten used to him.
He thought that Melodyecho was going to ignore him, so he was just about to leave her in peace when she walked up to him. That surprised him.
He managed a chuckle when she ensured him that she won't bite his head off; he knew that she was being humorous, but he was the sort of cat who was more on the serious side. Sometimes, he wished that he could just laugh at another cat's joke like his clanmates can. Since the first day he became deputy, he always put the clan first, so never got to talk much to other cats. He felt isolated that way.
Up close, he admitted that Melodyecho's eyes really WERE stunning. It looked aqua blue... so bright and so... beautiful. But he felt a little nervous when she seemed to stare at his eyes. Maybe she thinks it's weird, that reminded him of his kithood when all the cats, even his siblings, joked about his eyes. Only his parents were sympathetic enough to see past that and treat him equally as his normal sister.
He was brought back to reality when Melodyecho asked her the quesion. "Oh I was just passing through. I just finished a hunting patrol, but didn't want to stay in camp all the time. Sometimes I just feel like I need to get out alone for a bit..." he answered, hoping that this wouldn't add more to the weirdness she might think of him. "You?"

ooc: I think you're doing great, Snow.
He looked at her eyes, but she didn't turn her head away this time. If they wanted to look at her eyes. Fine. She didn't really care anymore. But knowing that Goldeneye had different colored eyes made her feel better. It made her feel normal. Like she didn't had to pretend when she was around him. It felt nice for a change. To be herself. But who was the real her? Acting tough and stubborn just got tiring after awhile. She sat down in front of the deputy.
"Me?" She listened to Goldeneye's answer and smiled. So he didn't like being in camp either? That was another thing they had in common. Wow. Maybe we'll have fifty more things in common by the time the conversation's over. "Well, I keep on getting stares from the other cats. And I know its about my eyes, so I left camp to get away from it all. I don't like being the center of attention. Its just creepy to have every cat stare at you." Head turned to the side where she could see the spot where she dug the mouse. "I came here; where I know not many cats come at this time of day. I caught a mouse and then lay on the flat rock. Then you came and here we are." Another sly smile.
But his eyes captivated her. She couldn't get over how they complimented him and his face. Now it would be nice to have different colored eyes. But she couldn't help herself and told him, "You have beautiful eyes." Automatically, she bit her lip from saying something else that may make her look dumb. "I...uh. Sorry for that. Its just that your eyes are so...captivating. Handsome." She admitted, paw brushing the ground in front of her. This conversation was going to be a weird one. First it was asking what they were doing and now it was on eyes.
Head tilted up to him. This was the first time she made a fool of herself. And in front of a deputy. Goldeneye to be exact. The one she complimented. She blew out air through her mouth, almost like a sigh. Aqua-blue eyes just stared into his eyes. Dark silver head turned away. She had to stop doing that. Why was her mind being jumbled together? It was so frustrating to think properly when all she kept thinking about was the amber-gold and green eyes.

OOC: aw thanks!!!!!!! =D
IC: The golden tom nodded, agreeing with Melodysong that having other cats stare is very nerve-wrecking indeed. He sure knew about that, still hating the memory of when all the clan cats tisked him, seeing his different coloured eyes. The apprentices and other kits laughed at him, while warriors just stared. Elders didn't make it any better; they pitied him. He learned to ignore it soon though, or he wouldn't have been able to live another day in camp with so much ruckus around camp ever since his birth. Everything got better after he became a warrior; they all seemed to look past his eyes by then. Thankfully.
He was about to add something when Melodyecho commented on his eyes. 'You have beautiful eyes', she said. He blushed; no cat had ever said that before. Not only that, but the soft, dreamy tone that she used made him feel a rush of heat, even down to his tailtip. If it was any other cat, he might have thought they were joking, again, but Melodyecho... she seemed to be sincere about it.
He didn't know what to say at all at this moment. Being a tom, like all toms are, he was clueless about what to say to she-cats. All he knew was that she complimented him, and on what he was mostly made fun of when he was younger. How ironic... but in a good way, I think.
Goldeneye was about to compliment her back, but he didn't know what exactly to say. He opened then shut his mouth again, afraid of what she'd react if he told her that HER eyes were beautiful, on the contrary. He didn't want to get clawed in the face by seeming to hit on her.
Then, for once she noticed another scent, besides Melodyecho's sweet scent beside him. Another Lightningclan scent... "Sunwhisker?" he tore his eyes away from the dark silver she-cat and spotted the light gold warrior crouching in the grass.

m e l o d y e c h o She was lost in his eyes, concentrating on the colors. Mixed together they were so beautiful. The singing of a nearby bird broke her focus and made her sit taller. What the heck was happening? First she was in control of herself, then the next she was complimenting a tom on how gorgeous his eyes were. Claws dug into the ground and she closed her eyes, trying to control herself again. Nothing like this had ever happened to her, and it confused, yet frustrated her. But those light and sweet emotions filled her again. The emotions were putting up a fight against her self control. This was an experience she never had and they wanted it to last.
Her eyes watched his mouth as it opened and closed. Go on, say it. His scent wreathed around her like soft caressing fingers, it almost made her purr with delight, but that would've been too much. She willed herself to say something, but the silence around them felt right somehow. It didn't care if they said anything, all they had to do was communicate through the eyes and it would be alright from there. Bright blue eyes glowed with delight. This feeling for her was weird, but she welcomed it. Was she having a crush on him? Her mind pondered that though for a couple of moments. She'd seen him around camp, watched how he acted, but only because he was the deputy. He was handsome, she gave him that. Melodyecho had a deep respect for any cat who had a position. But this... was unlike anything she had ever felt. She concluded with the thought that maybe she was crushing on him. But, come on, who wouldn't?
But when his captivating eyes tore away from her, she thought she did something wrong. But then she scented it. Lightningclan. Why hadn't she found it before? Then she blushed, remembering the silence between her and Goldeneye. Thats why. With Goldeneye she was acting like a completely different cat. And with him around, she was only focused on him.
Then she turned her head in the direction of where Goldeneye's optics where looking. Sunwhisker? Eyes widened as she saw the she-cat watching them. She was watching us! Her body froze. This was something that would be hopefully easy to explain. They'd been hunting when they bumped into each other. Yeah, right. But that wouldn't work since one of their clanmates had been watching them. And what did she think? Left ear twitched as she waited for Sunwhisker to talk. This was awkward. [/blockquote][/color]

Sunwhisker's eyes widened when she heard the cats say her name. She stepped out into the clearing, her muscles rippleing under her shining pelt, and dipped her head in respect to her fellow clan mates. "I'm sorry for intruding on your conversation, I didn't mean to, i just stumbled upon you two." She felt embarrased that she was suddenly there during their special conversation. "I should go... Oh, and Melodyecho, i think your eyes are pretty." She stared deep into her face, and gave her one of her more serious looks, a look that meant that she meant it.
She was just about to turn away when another cat bounded into the clearing. It was her brother, Runningstripe. Sunwhisker rolled her eyes and thought, now is not the right time! But it was too late for that to come true. Runningstripe almost bumped into her when he approached the clearing and meowed, his cloudy, blind eyes staring right through her, "I thought I smelled you, I thought that we could go hunting to-" He stopped abruptly at mid sentence and said more quietly, "are there other cats here?"

Goldeneye glanced almost a little nervously at Melodyecho's reaction to what Sunwhisker said about her eyes. He knew that she was a bit sensitive about that; he figured that much, seeing that every time in camp it was others staring at her eyes that made her mad. What now?
Unexpectedly, he saw Runningstripe enter and stop right by his sister. "Yes, Runningwhisker. It's Goldeneye and Melodyecho," he replied to the other tom. Even though he was blind, Goldeneye was impressed at what a great warrior he became, despite it all.

The dark silver femme dipped her head back. "It's okay." She didn't have much to say about that. And if she did, then she might as well tell them she was crushing on Goldeneye. As if that wasn't embarrassing enough. Melodyecho, the moody and self conscious she-cat falling for the deputy of the clan. Her body stiffened at Sunwhisker's comment about her eyes. But she listened to the sincerity of the she-cat's voice, and the serious look she gave her. It made Melodyecho smile only the slightest bit. "Thanks. That means...a lot to me." Her eyes twinkled. Head turned to the tom next to her as she saw him cast a nervous glance at her. Did he think that she was going to snap at Sunwhisker for complimenting on her eyes. She would've if she didn't see that Sunwhisker was being so sincere. Her response to him was a smirk and glittering aqua-blue eyes.
Silver head turned back to watch her clanmate leave the clearing. But then right as she started walking another tom came and almost bumped in with his sister. She smiled at Runningwhisker. Even though he was blind it never stopped him from being a warrior. That made Melodyecho have respect for the younger warrior. He never gave up. "Hello, Runningwhisker." Black-ringed tail twitched in amusement. It didn't bother her that other cats were starting to come. Next it'll probably be the whole clan.

"Oh... hi melodyecho! I'm sorry to intrude. I'll get going. So sorry!" He put a tail on Sunwhisker's shoulder seeming to know exactly where she was. "Come on Sunwhisker, we should go. LightningClan territory is crawling with prey now that greenleaf has come. Let's go hunting!" He turned and scampered off, and Sunwhisker turned her head back to Melodyecho and rolled her eyes. Then she too turned tail and scampered off!

Goldeneye watched intently as the two warriors walked off side by side. Sometimes their strong kinship reminded him of his sister, who was no longer around. Him and Soaringsky had been great littermates. Even though she sometimes also teased him about his eyes, since she had normal green eyes, he knew that she was joking only. In fact, when others thought he was weird, she always stood up for him. But now she wasn't here anymore.
Then the deputy turned back to Melodyecho, his odd eyes seeming to be searching for something, though he didn't know himself. They were alone again. He just watched her for a little while; he didn't even know why he was being so hesistant. "Um, would you like to go hunting?" he finally asked. He didn't know how long he was watching her for, or how long it took for him to say those words. He didn't even notice how quiet the clearing has become, or how everything seemed to be holding their breath; in the distance, a black cloud was advancing.
