Here, this'll explain it:
The History of the Clans
As many cats know, the Clans used to be four Clans, living in the forest, and then the lake. They were known as ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan. After being forced by twolegs out of their beloved forest home, they came to a lake were again they settled into their own Clans. Many hardships faced the Clans, badgers attacked, treacherous schemes were cooked up by traitors and many cats lost their lives. But the brave cats did not let that drive them away. Clan life continued on as usual. Then came the creatures, animals unknown to the cats. They ripped the delicate feline bodies and killed so many that the leaders had to give the order to leave. This time they did not find a good home so quickly.
The Clans traveled together for so many seasons that the boundaries between them began to dissolve more then ever before. After moons of traveling together, they became one Clan, SilentClan, so named for the silence that had become reality. Soon after SilentClan was formed, a new home was found. Looking up, the leader of SilentClan, Littlestar, looked up and saw five stars shining brightly full of hope on top of the mountain. Littlestar died that night.
Though the Clan grieved for their leader, the sign was clear. The Clan was to separate into five, and so the greatest cats of that time, Snowheart, Hollythorn, Leaffur, Shoreear and Streampebble, took up rule of the new Clans, and found territories suitable to what the cats they chose desired. HollyClan took up residence in a sunny forest by the base of the mountain; the cats Hollystar chose were mostly cats from the old ThunderClan. Leafstar and her Clan of mostly WindClan cats chose a grassy more with only one tree, which they found very much to their liking. ShoreClan liked the woodland with the waterfall; the sound of rushing water was calming to this Clan of mostly RiverClan. Streamstar liked the area with the stream; her Clan too was mostly of the old RiverClan. That left SnowClan with the snowy top of the mountain, which no cat had wanted. They survived there, since this Clan was made up of mostly ShadowClan and their love of wet ground, but the hardships were enormous.
Now, many seasons later, Lakestar, the leader of SnowClan, Ripplepaw, an apprentice of SnowClan, and Lightkit, a former rouge, are about to dive deep into their ancestry for help defeating the Dark Stars, an enemy much like the Clan Firestar led LionClan against…
