Rippedpaw walked out and glanced behind her to see if Thunderpaw was following.

Thunderpaw bounded up to Rippedpaw and skidded to a halt, stopping next to her. "Where do ya wanna hunt first?" he mewed as he got up onto his paws and shook off the dirt, giving his paw a quick lick. He looked at her sleek black fur that shone slightly in the light and purred. He knew some apprentices wear mean to her because her mentor was Treestar and she had a hard time making friends because of it, but he didn't care. She was a really nice cat.

"Sure" he purred "Just hope there are no more badgers today!". He began to walk in the direction of the Big Pine, constantly checking if Rippedpaw was following. Although what he said about the badgers was a joke, deep down he actually meant it. Or at least, no big ones anway.

Rippedpaw shuddered at the thought of meeting the mother badger. What would they do? There were no other cats around to help them if they met her. She hoped that that wouldn't happen.

Thunderpaw lifted his nose into the air and took in a deep breath, checking the scents around him. He could't smell much though. a few mice, a robin and a vole. He dropped his head to a normal level and looked Rippedpaw in the eye. "Pick a prey, any prey!"

Flameclaws had seen the apprentice's go off to hunt. He was going to get a patrol to go around the territory to find that badger. He hoped those apprentice's wouldn't find it. But Flameclaws had faith that they could chase it off. But if they couldn't he would come to the rescue.Flameclaws chuckled.

"Okay, I'll try for the robin" he grinned and padded off into the bushes, glancing over his shoulder to check if Rippedpaw was still fine. Then headed off for the robin.

Rippedpaw slightly parted her jaw. She pounced, and killed a vole with one quick bite.

Thunderpaw padded around for what seemed like ages, following the robins scent. Where was it? he carried on for a little while longer until he saw a rustling in the bushes. "Hah! you cannot elude me robin!" he mewed as he pounced, diving through the tall grass.

Thunderpaw padded up to Rippedpaw and dropped the robin beside her. "Just about" he mewed. He sat down and curled his tail over his paws. "You catch the vole?"

Thundepaw, too, couldn't scent anything. He looked down at the robin and vole, it wasn't a lot. He stood up and stretched a little, "Nothing" he murmured.

"I don't understand," Rippedpaw said scenting the air again, "there was lots of prey just a moment ago. Where did it all go?" Rippedpaw scented again. There was something new, but what was it? "Thunderpaw, do you smell that?" Rippedpaw's pelt bristled at the thought of a fox or badger. I wish I knew what it was. I would be less afraid of it. Rippedpaw thought to herself.

Thunderpaw looked at Rippedpaw and raised one eyebrow. He was about to say he couldn't smell anything but then something drifted down his nostrils and caught in his throat, nearly making him choke. What was that? Was it a badger? He couldn't tell, he thought he'd had the scent memorised. Inside he hit his head on the floor, how could have been so stupid! His fur bristled and he edged towards Rippedpaw until they were next to each other, their pelts brushing. He took a deep breath in, if there was anything dangerous infront of them, concealed amongst the forestry, they would face it together.

"What is it?" Rippedpaw pushed closer to Thunderpaw. She was terrifiied! If it was a fox they would be able to fight it, but if not they could hold it off until help arrived. If it was a badger they would have to run. Two apprentices couldn't take on a full grown badger. It could also be a rogue. That is the most ideal, but most unlikely. The smell defiantly wasn't cat. A rogue wouldn't scare away prey. It would have killed it. Rippedpaw shuddered again.
