Falling Slowly [Flash/Dream]

Dreampaw hunched down. She was hiding from Earthclan and Skyclan. The she-cat wasn't supposed to be here, but she was. Dreampaw came to see Flashpaw, the tom she loved. I know he's in Earthclan, but we're in an alliance, what's the harm in it? He's so handsome, with his calico pelt, and deep blue eyes, his feathery tail, and that lightly muddy scent... Dreampaw's thought continued in this manner for a while. She turned her silvery-blue gaze to the sky. It was dark, sure to rain later on. At any rate, Dreampaw could smell it. It'll help wash Flashpaw's scent away, that way I don't get caught.

Dreampaw started to lick her paws. Flashpaw was taking a long time, if he was coming at all. They hadn't planned this meeting or anything, Dreampaw was just kind of waiting near the border, in case he came by. He might not even come, she thought with dismay. Dreampaw forced that thought from her head. She didn't want to think about it, nor what Dawnstar would do to her if she caught her here. I'd be stuck in camp for a moon, caring for the elder's, only leaving to do some training... I wouldn't be able to see Flashpaw at all.... Oh, I hope I don't get caught, Dreampaw thought frantically. She peered through the bushes, trying to glimpse a pelt that may belong to Flashpaw.

Flashpaw loped easily through the trees. In his jaws he carried three mice by the tails, and he was feeling pleased with himself. It was a good day's work.

Stopping by the border, he breathed in deeply. He had always loved the smell of rain. But now it was even better... was that an airy scent he detected? Turning in the direction of it, he pinpointed the exact scent. Dreampaw.

Purring happily, he ran quickly toward the she-cat, white paws kicking up the mud. He came up behind her and sat down next to her. "Hey," he whispered, rubbing against the she-cat he loved.

Dreampaw put her head on her paws, just as Flashpaw's scent washed over her. Oh, he's here! she thought excitedly. "Hi," she meowed. Dreampaw pressed her white flank against Flashpaw's. "I didn't think you were going to come out this way," she meowed happily. But I'm so happy he did! she thought. Dreampaw was so happy, so content, so in love. She didn't want to be anywhere else then where she was right now, but they both belonged to their clans.

"I usually don't," Flashpaw allowed. "But the prey is good here, and the Clan needs to be fed." He purred. "I'm glad that I came this way too."

"It's a good thing, I would've sat out here all night," Dreampaw purred lightly. "I wouldn't want to explain that one..." Considering it's going to rain...

Flashpaw laughed. "I would feel bad that I was dry in my nest and you were out here getting soaked. That just isn't right." He drew his tongue over his paw and curved it over his ear. He would stay here as long as she wanted, even if it started to rain. Tensions were rising, and his training was picking up pace. Who knew when and if they could meet again?

Dreampaw smiled. "Well, I'd be just fine," she meowed, and flicked Flashpaw's ear with her tail. She sniffed the air. The rain was moving in, only a few more minutes of being dry. "I'm not leaving, I think it'll rain hard enough, that I can claim that I had to find a quick shelter to avoid the rain..." She wanted to spend every free moment possible with Flashpaw, she had too.

Flashpaw curled up next to Dreampaw. "That is a very good excuse, mind if I use it?" His eyes sparkled, but he was worried. Songpaw was getting suspicious, and his sister might just go and tell Treestar. It was such a big mess, and would get even worse if Songpaw found out... Flashpaw shook his head. Then why did it feel so right?

Dreampaw licked Flashpaw's cheek as he curled up next to her. I don't want to leave, not ever, she thought. "Go right ahead," the she-cat meowed. He looks worried, probably stuff is happening in his clan that is troubling, but I won't say anything, Dreampaw decided. "So, your sister and mother are back, that's a good thing," she meowed instead. I wish I had a mother, she's dead, there's Brooksplash, but she's not my real mother...

Flashpaw chuckled but nodded. "Yeah, I'm really glad they are back, if it weren't for the fact that if Songpaw finds out she will go strait to Treestar and then I will never be let out of the camp again." He sighed. "Then it would be really hard to see you..." If only Songpaw wasn't so obsessed with 'doing the thing that's in the warrior code'. He frowned. The warrior code was nothing compared to love.

Oh, Dreampaw thought and went pale. That's not good, for me and Flashpaw I mean... "I'll sneak into your camp to see you, I won't let you stay away from me that long," she meowed confidently. Granted if she snuck into the Earthclan camp, she'd surely get caught, then both she and Flashpaw would be stuck in camp forever...

Laughing, Flashpaw turned to Dreampaw with a sparkle in his eyes. "That's suicidal. Though our Clans are allied, they won't let you just walk past the borders." Flashpaw rolled his eyes. "Everything has been doubled. You'd get caught, even though I know you are the queen of sneaking, and then we'd both be stuck in camp with no way to see each other." He almost added, 'That would really stink' then decided it sounded too corny.

Dreampaw grinned. "Stupid furball, don't you think I know that? They'd have to let you out every now and then, to hunt and stuff, I'll hide in a tree and wait for you," she meowed. "Either way, I'll still see you." As if on cue, once she said 'you' the rain started to pour of the sky. It beat against the trees, RAT-A-TAT-TAT!, it seemed to say. What if meant however, was lost on Dreampaw.

Flashpaw grinned. "They'd probably have my sister tag along with me to keep me out of trouble." He rolled his eyes. "I love her, but she is so loyal to the warrior code." He cuddled up next to Dreampaw, ignoring the rain. "She doesn't get that sometimes it is more rewarding to break the rules."

Dreampaw pondered this or a moment. "Well, you could always 'scent' a mouse or something and run off the hunt it, then climb the tree, and viola, away from Songpaw!" the white-calico she-cat suggested. Her brain was working overtime making a plan.

Flashpaw nodded. "I could, but lets not start being pessimistic. I haven't been caught by Songpaw... not yet at least. Forestfur won't tell and Dawnstar already knows but won't stop you. Things, for now, are fine."

Dreampaw nodded. I think we should be prepared, but whatever, she thought. "I think she's expecting me to learn my own lesson, but she doesn't know how wrong she is," she meowed.

Flashpaw laughed. "What does she know about a love like this? I mean, come on!" He rubbed his paw absentmindedly in the dirt. "It isn't something you pull away from..."

Dreampaw laughed lightly. "Flashpaw, it's not something you can pull away from. It's like honey, it just sticks around."

Flashpaw purred and nodded. his ear flicked away the raindrops soaking them as he tried to figure out something. "And how come Dawnstar considers herself such an expert?"
