Life goes on (Clan meeting)

Watching with serious eyes, Kurapelt tilted her head. the way of the clan was strange. But it was nice, even living wiht a bounch of toms. Her eyes flickered around th egroup landing on the familiar pelt of Moonpelt. The first clancat she had ever met, leapin gup with excitment she bound forward.

"Moonpelt!"

Graysky and Bluecloud sat close to the camp entrance grinning and calling Nightshadow's name. However Graysky's attintion seemed to be on a certain she-cat as she pelted past Emberfrost to get to Moonpelt.

Dawnstar waited for the cheering to die down and then prepared to speak again. Public speaking... wow. Never thought she could survive through that! Pulling her fluffy tail in close, Dawnstar turned to Rosefeather. She couldn't shake off the guilty feeling that she had stolen something from the deputy, but Rosefeather had named her leader on her own accord. She hoped that Rosefeather didn't hate her, and she trusted her deputy with her life.

"Our alliance with EarthClan is final, and they aren't all who will be helping us. The HHB, a group of rogues who live almost like a Clan are helping us as well." Dawnstar's eyes flicked over Thawpelt, but she quickly looked away. It was only a rumor she had heard after all. "A pair of their kits was stolen by Foxcloud, and they will fight and fight hard to get them back. You are not to attack them, they are our allies, no matter the mixed feelings you may have."

Galaxyshadow let out a meow of surprise. The HHB? He'd never heard of them..but he trusted Dawnstar absolutely, so if she said they were to be trusted, so be it. He nodded his head, wondering what these cats were like, and at the same time, thinking of Dawnstar and of training Smallpaw, his new apprentice....

[Rosefeather]

Rosefeather almost growled. Trust some little group of loners? Ha, not in my lifetime Dawnstar.

Emberfrost frowned when Dawnstar mentioned the HHB. A pack of rogues are helping? His eyes narrowed in suspicion. Dawnstar, is this really a smart move?

Then his amber eyes caught sight of something that distracted him from his stare on the new Skyclan leader. The flash of silky fur of Kurapelt. She ran right past him, headed to Moonpelt. He wanted to follow after her but remembered that this was a clan meeting. Besides, she wasn't going for another tom he thought, and made himself stay put, trying to concentrate on the meeting again, though he kept glancing over at the she-cat.

Dawnstar could sense that many cats didn't like this new alliance. She nearly growled. Had they forgotten where she had come from? She had been born a rogue and just because some cats had mixed feelings about Clanless cats didn't mean that they couldn't be trusted. She knew Sunset and knew that she could be trusted completely. But it had been EarthClan to suggest the alliance...

"They can and will be trusted. Give them a chance, they are all good fighters and have as much right in this battle as we do. The instant their kits were stolen, they were given the right to battle. We are just lucky they did not choose to side with FireClan and WaterClan in return for the safety of they kits." Dawnstar closed her eyes in silent anger. "Some of them are half Clan, or even full Clan. Many of them have ties to us. The leader in fact is closely related to EarthClan. Trust me. The leader and a couple of other cats are coming by. They will not come into the camp, nor learn its whereabouts. Judge them then."

Echostep felt her fur begin to prickle as it rose along her spine, but after a moment she forced it flat. As uneasy as the prospect of fighting with a band of rogue cats made her, the warrior agreed with Dawnstar. They were lucky that they hadn't sided with WaterClan and FireClan; all SkyClan needed was more cats to fight, more cats to lose Clanmates to... And if their kits had been stolen, then they would have a group of very angry, very determined allies on their side...

Kurapelt's mad dash toward Moonpelt ended Echostep's thoughts, and she shook her head slowly. The she-cat still had a lot to learn, didn't she?

[Rosefeather]

"Really now." Rosefeather yowled, stepping into the light, her ginger fur flashing. "If they are so closely related to EarthClan, why has this never come up at a Clan meeting? Mm, perhaps, there is deeper secrets that we are not recieving Dawnstar. Your past as a rogue may be blinding your eyes."

Dawnstar's heart sank. She needed Rosefeather's support. Did the deputy hate her? And she knew that her judgment was not wrong...

"When my friends and I were trying to get to the Clans, Sunset found us and took us in. We were almost dead and she brought us back from the brink. I know that she would never hurt anyone unless they threatened her and her band. She is a mother who has lost a kit. We have nothing to fear. And I had no idea her connection to EarthClan until I went to visit them and she came by. That is private and I do not know in what ways she is connected, but she certainly knows Treestar." Dawnstar almost added, well, but she didn't want to alienate the EarthClan leader.

[Rosefeather]

Rosefeather nodded. "Then I expect you to understand the consequences if our alliance with EarthClan becomes scratchy, Dawnstar." Rosefeather wasn't trying to be mean, she just wanted to make sure her choice to make Dawnstar the leader was a good one.

Dawnstar nodded. "We are merely allied to fight. Anything more will not be tolerated." Dawnstar's eyes wandered over Dreampaw and away. "After the fight is over, the alliance will be gone."

Galaxyshadow nodded- Dawnstar had his full support. She could do no wrong in his eyes. "Where then shall we meet?" he meowed, looking questioningly at Dawnstar, "If we're not meeting in the camp, then where should we go? and is the entire clan coming to this meeting, or just your senior warriors?" The white tom's eyes, normally yellow, turned a shade of leaf green as the sunlight shone gently through the leafy trees.

An alliance with rogues? Graysky shrugged the matter off, if that was what the leader had decided what could he do about it? He didn't mind working with rogues that much, he had rogue blood in him, as did his son, Kurapelt and Dawnstar.

He knew most rogues to be just as loyal as clancats. He glanced over at his son who's fur had stood on end. His son on the other paw, would not think like that.

Bluecloud hissed under his breath, working with rogues! He's rather eat mouse dung! Glancing over at his father, frustration curled inside of him, his father was taking this well. It was to be expected. His father took most things well.

He let his claws sinking into the ground as he glared up at the new leader of Skyclan.

Echostep just barely caught the sound of a hiss from her right, and she threw a side-long glance in the direction of the noise. She found herself watching Bluecloud... Unsurprised, she shook her head again. It might not be her business, but the she-cat thought that the young warrior could stand to learn some respect, if not for rogues then for his leader's decisions. Rolling her eyes, Echostep looked away and found herself nodding with Galaxyshadow's words. Wary though she was, the she-warrior was curious to meet these rogues.

Dreampaw looked at her paws. She knew what Dawnstar was thinking. This alliance would only strengthen her and Flashpaw's relationship. But at least it would be easier to see him, she could be sent on a stake-out mission or something. Dreampaw wasn't sure, but she'd figure something out. She walked over to Nightshadow, unaware that Toxicpaw-erm-Toxicfang's feeling lead her to this clan in the first place. "Congrats," she said cheerfully.

"Hmff" Emberfrost knew that what Dawnstar decided was indeed smart, but he wasn't about to admit it. He was too proud to admit that Skyclan needed the help from crowfood-eating rogues. Not that he's seen any of them, but just the thought of having rogues in their camp made his claws unsheathe. They'd better have no more alliance once this is over.

Rosefeather turned back to the shadows, done with this meeting. Perhaps I should check the borders. No, going alone is suicide. The deputy shook her head, her pawsteps slowly disappearing.

Already feeling the tensions on rogues rise, the ex-rogue Kurapelt slowly backed into the shadows her face set in stone. She understood how the cats felt, in a way, but she knew that she would never fully understand because she wasn't one of them.

Turning she crept low from the camp, ignoring the few glares tossed her way.

Rouges weren't all that bad! She herself should be proof of that, right?

Graysky watched the she-cat creep from the camp, the twitch of his ears the only sign he showed for his sympathy for the ex-rogue. Turning to his son, who was one of those who glared, he hissed aiming claws at his sons head.

"Stop that!"

Bluecloud hissing back moved away, his gaze dropping to his paws.

Distracted, Echostep drew her gaze away from Dawnstar to glance after a shape disappearing into the shadows. Her fur prickled, and she found herself staring at Kurapelt. A pang of sympathy stole through her heart. How was all of this hostility toward rogues affecting the she-cat? Not well, apparently.

Sighing, she made up her mind to follow her friend once Dawnstar was finished. She'd let her have some time to herself first.
