Since it was the first day of training, Smokeshadow decided to stick with the normal way of teaching, where mentors show their apprentices around the territory. It's too bad he couldn't find Pondshine, for he wanted to have their apprentices train together. Since it was both their first times having apprentices, he thought they'd be able to help each other out. Well, today he'll have to do with alone.
He was glad when he heard the pawsteps of Cedarpaw following behind him. He didn't turn to see if he was close, or if he was keeping up or not. He kept his pace and headed straight for the Lake of Waters. Then, they'll make their way around the entire area.

Cedarpaw raced to keep up with his mentor. "Hey Smokeshadow," He meowed breathlessly, padding alongside his mentor. "Where are we going?"

Smokeshadow didn't reply and barely seemed to hear his apprentice as he padded along. He didn't want to answer unnecessary questions until they got there, then Cedarpaw would see for himself what a wonder the place was.
Just as quickly as he set off from camp, the dark grey warrior stopped, almost making Cedarpaw bump into him. They were here; the beautiful, huge lake. It was a large expanse of water, dark and almost an eery blue. "this place is called the Lake of Waters," he meowed, his voice dark, almost. somehow this place always made him feel empty inside, and had this feeling that someone or something is calling out to him. He shook the thought away.
"We're going to hunt here. I'll teach you. Deal is, if you catch something, you get to be proud and eat your first kill, since this isn't a hunting patrol. if you don't catch something, you go hungry until we return to camp, got it?" this way, he knew his apprentice would work harder and concentrate.

OOC: Getting the hint you want my cat to join, Snowstep. Pondshine and Smokeshadow are friends after all, and I have an idea on how to bypass the fact Silvah hasn't been on in a while.
IC: Pondshine raced out from the undergrowth, hot on the trail of a squirrel. Her emerald eyes were so intent on the small creature, the young warrior hardly noticed the upcoming water. The already scratched up squirrel took one look at the water, and jumped out into it at the sight of the oncoming predator. Pondshine, blind to the world around her, clumsily splashed out after the squirrel. The small creature petaled at the dark water franticly, and let out a horrible cry as the cat's jaws clamped over its small neck. The hole scene went under water a few heartbeats just after its entrance.
After a while of silence, a waterlogged figure irrupted from the dark depths, a limp ball of wet fur in her jaws. Pondshine looked thinner then normal with her silver-blue fur plastered to her skin. The Waterclan she-cat's emerald eyes flicked up, and filled with embarrassment as she took in the sight of Smokeshadow and his apprentice. "Oh! Smokeshadow! Didn't know you would be here. I was showing Birchpaw how to catch a squirrel out of a low branch, but I over-judged my leap, and my claws scratched its back." Pondshine mewed, placing the drenched squirrel and shaking herself to get rid of extra water. Her wet tail flicked at a small apprentice coming from the bushes as she mentioned Birchpaw.

OOC: YAY U CAME PIKERU!!!!!!!!!!! =D
IC: "Um," Smokeshadow was caught unexpected by Pondshine's sudden appearance and chase. The instant he saw her dash past them and into the lake made his heart beat a little faster. "nice to see you here, Pondshine." he meowed, trying to look serious and calm in front of his apprentice, though he's been sort of worried about where she was since yesterday after the ceremony.
Still, he cracked up a bit. "I see you've been drowning urself in pursuit of a piece of furball. i hope you're going to teach Birchpaw how to swim before u teach her how to hunt like you." he chuckled to himself, then cleared his throat and straightened up again. "Cedarpaw, you're going to have to be a little more watchful of where you're jumping." A glint of mischeif glittered in his dark blue eyes. that was unusual for him, but maybe he was in a good mood because it was his first day as a mentor. or simply because Pondshine was here.

Cedarpaw grinned back. "I will Smokeshadow!" He had to stop himself from chuckling. Cedarpaw had seen a noticeable change in Smokeshadow. He was... more relaxed and happier around Pondshine. He grinned as he watched the two cats and waited for his mentor to teach him. He'd be the best hunter he could be and the best apprentice as well!

Pondshine chuckled to herself at Smokeshadow's words. She took his comment as a friendly challenge. Turning to her apprentice, the silver-blue she-cat shook her wet fur and looked at the young apprentice proudly. "This before you, my dear apprentice, is what you call an ego. Watch carefully as it is deflated." the new warrior purred playfully, turning back to Smokeshadow with a friendly twinkle in her emerald eyes. "May I interrupt to say; I bet I could swim better then you!"

Cedarpaw was now trying really hard to keep from laughing as Smokeshadow and Pondshine playfully bantered with each other. He avoided looking at Pondshine, for he knew he'd burst out laughing and laugh uncontrollably if he saw her smile like that again.

"Hah!" Smokeshadow gave a pretend laugh, though in his eyes laughter really was twinkling as he watched Pondshine, though he tried not to show it. "That is so much more than an ego. That, Cedarpaw, is pride." he addressed his apprentice, though it seemed like most his attention was on the beautiful silverblue she-cat. "And that sounds like a challenge..." he purred deep in his throat, lowering his head a little to meet Pondshine straight in the eyes. "You're on"

Cedarpaw squeaked, eyes shining. This was going to be fun! Watching his mentor and Pondshine have a swimming race was totally cool! He had no idea who to root for, he just wanted to see them race. He grinned. "I'll give the start then!" He offered..

Ponshine gave a small giggle at the sight of Smokeshadow's, "serious face". She didn't know why, but the tom never scared her. For a moment, the warrior went back into her mind and fished out the old memory of how she first met him. Her emerald eyes wide with shock as she gaze at all the fish he had caught. Even after they practically crashed into each other, and received the cold shoulder just like any other cat would have gotten if they had bumped into the sharp-tongued tom. Pondshine had tried to make it up to Smokeshadow by carrying a fish he couldn't. The twinkle of amusement in the she-cat's eyes turned to something more, as she re-watched her tripping, and him coming back for her. Over, and over this scene played in her mind.
"A challenge it was, and a challenge I am ready to accept as well!" Pondshine purred softly as she circled Smokeshadow eagerly. Her silver-blue fur no longer dripping wet, but rather lightly glazed so that the sun made it have a small shine. "I'm not that little apprentice that tripped and got a nose bleed any more. I'm older now..." Pondshine trailed off, and stopped her act of circling the poor tom, and began padding for the water. As she passed, her tail ran across Smokeshadow's flank teasingly. It trailed across his chest as well, rising just in time to flick him in the nose.
"But just as childish!" the silver-blue she-cat purred at the last moment, just before she grew out of ear shot of a cat who wished to grumble something under his breath. Her soft paw-steps grew louder as she bolted the rest of the way to the edge of the lake. I'll use my size and slim structure to win this! Smokeshadow may be strong, but he isn't all that swift.[/b] Pondshine plotted out in her head, glancing back to see if the tom was coming. Her paws began to knead the soft, muddy ground. The sticky brown mud oozed in between her toes, making her shudder slightly at the feeling.[/color]
OOC: I couldn't stop laughing at the part with her tail! I don't know why, but I found it funny...and I knew it would shock poor Smokeshadow! lol XD

(lol!1 It was funny! I don't think Cedarpaw will be able to control his laughing!)
A giggle escaped from Cedarpaw and he whipped his paw over his mouth to stop the rest that threatened to escape. He had never seen a cat dare to do what Pondshine had done. Another giggle escaped and another and yet another until Cedarpaw was sprawling on the ground, laughing hard..

OOC: I know! I couldn't stop laughing myself as I tried to picture Smokeshadow's face! What makes it funnier for me, is that he has a small crush (or is it bigger now, Snowstep?) on Pondshine, and she doesn't know. So she doesn't know her playful act could be taken as flurting. Good thing Pondshine has been his friend for a while, for Smokeshadow may have bitten the tail of any other cat who had done this. lol XD
I shall wait to post again. I MUST see what Smokeshadow does!

OOC: OH MY IM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SO SO SO SORRY! oh gosh i've been out these few days, and haven't been on the comp....... and i was SO GONNA reply the day u sent me the PM, pikeru, but but i didn't know what to say...... and and u know, writers block and it felt so pressured that i'd make smokeshadow do something interesting that i had no idea what i should say. =( *teardrop* i feel so bad.... and i don't think i'll do whatever u guys are expecting but i'll do my best.... =S
IC: The dark grey tom felt his heart pound in his chest when Pondshine trailed her soft tail across his flank. The glint in her confident eyes reflected the beautiful shine on her pelt. but he didn't expect her to flicker her tail on his nose. his ears turned hot in embarassment, seeing his apprentice laugh so hard that he fell onto the ground. his dark blue eyes were almost round for a heartbeat, but that disappeared so fast that it seemed like it didn't happen. he should have expected something so childish by her, but he got a bit caught up in the moment. in return, he snorted to hide his embarassment. "Just you watch, Cedarpaw," he boasted, then followed quickly after Pondshine.
He stood beside her when they got to the edge of the lake. "you'll pay for that once you lose this race," he gave her a half-sided grin, his eyes showing an unusual humour. maybe, just maybe he changed because of this beautiful silver-blue she-cat. it even seemed like he was more serious when he was younger. but now...
Even though Smokeshadow was strongly built, his larger paws gave him an advantage of having stronger strokes in the water. he remembered how he used to be so afraid of swimming, but after almost drowning, and staying clear of water for a few suns, he built a confidence that made him get other that fear. now, swimming was actually one of his specialties, second to battling. he knew that Pondshine had the advantage of less water resistance, but he had more powerful paws that would drive him through the water faster. who knows?
"Are you ready?"

Cedarpaw grinned as he watched his mentor pad into the water and say something to Pondshine. He couldn't wait to see who'd win! He watched eagerly..
(sorry!! I'm so sorry! I didn't even know you posted to this Snowstep! *whacks head in embarrasment*)
