(Yup! =P Starpaw won't find out anything unless you want her to- she'll just wonder why her mentor smells of Earthclan and maybe follow her once or twice fruitlessly?)
Starpaw tilted her head to the side. "You..oh nothing." She shrugged it aside and then, unable to stand her nagging curiosity, blurted out "You smell of Earthclan, that's all." She looked embarrassed at her outburst and wondered if she had just imagined the very faint smell...Wildheart had probably just been on border patrol, she thought to herself...

OOC: i missed you guys!!!!!!
IC: Wildheart's eyes widened tremendously. Her heart was racing faster than a hummingbird's wings pumping. Trying to play it cool, she meowed nonchalontly (i spelt that wrong didnt I?) "I, uh, i don't know why that is. I was on boder patrol this morning that went past the EarthClan border, maybe it, uh, rubbed off on?" She looked down at her paws, feeling terrible that she was lying to her apprentice.

Starpaw gave Wildheart a look. "I guess so." She said, unconvinced for some reason that she couldn't guess. She hopped off Wildheart and smiled. "So what are we going to do now?" She purred..

Wildheart, now distracted, even though her apprentice showed no sign of caring anymore. "Would you like to hunt?" she asked, "We can fit in a little more training until we head back to camp." The more we hurry the more I can get to Shadowprint... She blinked, suddenly regretting that she was thinking of breaking the warrior code other than her more improtant duties to her clan...

Starpaw nodded happily. "That'd be fun!" She resolved, feeling a little guilty, to see what Wildheart did after thier training. She didn't quite believe Wildheart's explaination, and her curiousity would not be satisfied unless she found the real answer......

Starpaw's eyes narrowed in concentration as she scented the air, her sensitive nose sorting out the millions of different scents. "I smell... a vole! And..one, no two mice! Am I right?" She meowed, grinning at her mentor...

"Exactly," Wildheart purred, "I also smell a squirrel way up in that tree. But it isnt worth the risk. Its way up there! Remember the hunter's crouch I taught you yesterday? Let's have a little mini test. What do you think of that?" She smiled encouragingly at her bright apprentice.

"Don't worry," she meowed encouragingly, "Everybody messes up. You're still young and you are learning at an excedingly fast pace. Try your best." She stared at her apprentice's saddened face. "Don't worry about the squirrel," she added, "It was impossible to catch it." Taking a step back into the bushes to hide herself she meowed, "Start now."

Starpaw sprang into action, zeroing in on the vole. She crouched, keeping her weight off her toes and keeping each step light. She leapt at the vole, catching it and swifltly killing it. That done, she pinpointed the mice- one was by a tree, the other in a thick bed of crunchy leaves. She aimed for the one by the tree first- it would make less noise and she might still be able to catch the other...

Smart, thought Wildheart proudly, I wouldn't have thought of that. Suddenly, a bluebird flew by. I hope she noticed that, that would be extra points. She would report back to Burningstar about Starpaw's fast training right after this test.

Starpaw saw a flutter of blue from the corner of her eye, and leapt at it, claws extended. She grasped it with her paws, and still in mid air, bit the bird's neck, landing on all fours with the bluebird in her jaws. A small blue feather drifted lazily down...
