Sunpaw paused a moment to scent the surrounding air. First to hit her were the ferns and plants, then Darkheart's and her own scent emerged before she tightened her focus and detected hidden, underlying scents. "Mouse... A squirrel and a bird over there" gesturing vaguely with her tail, she wasn't sure wether she'd found everything or not and hoped for the best.

Darkheart parted her jaws, and scented the air. She was right about the bird a mouse, but . . . "That mouse was here a little bit ago, then left. That's pretty good!" She smiled down at her then continued. "Now, which do you want to try for first? Also point them out again for me please." she added

Sunpaw's chest tightened and was grateful for her mentors praise, she took a calming breath and checked the air again. Her nose twitched as she caught the scent of the bird and screwed her eyes shut, focusing as much as she could on singling out the one bird and pinpointing it's location. She let out a quite gasp. This time she pointed with her nose. "Over there behind the thicket" she mewed. She looked at her mentor sideways, hoping she was right.

Darkheart smiled, "Correct!" She then went into the hunters crouch. "This is the hunters crouch. Sense its a bird, we have to make sure we're down wind . . . which we are. We slide our paws on the ground, so you cant here them. We want to get as close as we can, and make sure it doesnt take flight!" She showed her, but was going to let her get the bird. She sat down, "Now you try, and try to get the bird." she said quietly

Sunpaw watched Darkheart carefully and imitated her every move, shuffling her paws silently on the ground. moving as quitely as possible. She kept her eyes locked onto where the bird should be. Her tail kept her balanced as she tensed ready to spring. She played through in her head what would happen next, closed her eyes and leaned back for a more powerful jump. She flicked her tail once, twice, threetimes. before diving through the thicket with her legs outstretched and her claws unsheathed.

Darkheart watched her apprentice. With her going through, the bird might have flown away. She would have to wait and see.

OOC: it's fine, i didn't rly give you much to work with xD
Sunpaw must have misjudged her jump because she flew straight over the bird, landing on her front feet she spun round and took off again after the bird, clawing clumsily at the air. She barely caught it by the leg and dragged it down to the ground landing on top of it and nearly falling over. She steadied herself before finishing off the pinned bird quickly. She emerged from the thicket with the bird dangling from her jaws, she walked with a slight limp from the bad landing but held her tail. She tried to talk but her mouth was full of feathers. "Mmookf, mi fffort it!

Darkheart looked at her apprentice. She watched how the bird ALMOST got away . . . almost. She smiled, unable to understand her. "What did you say?" she asked She then looked at Sunpaw's limp. Darkheart narrowed her eyes. "Bad landing . . . correct? Misjudge the bird?" she asked quietly She would have to talk to her about that after she told her what she was trying to say with the bird still in her mouth.

Sunpaw flicked her ear apolagetically and spat out the bird ont the floor. "I said i caught it" she purred, glad that she did, she would have looked quite stupid if she'd of let it get away. "And yes, i sort of landed funny" she stood with her paw lifted from the ground, gingerly testing it againts the ground. She looked up at her mentor and smiled at her. "I'm sure it'll be fine"

Darkheart rolled her eyes. "And im a badger!" She looked at her apprentice. "Yes, you did catch it, but you still got hurt. Let me see it." she promted Then she added, "When you cant see your prey, it doesnt mean its far off. Before you make a spring like that, you have to make a better judgement . . . ko?" she asked her apprentice

Sunpaw nodded, grunting. She wobbled a little of her three legs so she sat down as she held out her paw, wincing a little as she did so. "I guess i rushed it a bit, huh?"she mewed, her paw hanging limp in the air.

Darkheart checked it very closely. "Hmm . . . It doesnt looke to bad . . . but still." She looked into her apprentices eyes. "Does it hurt enough for me to ask the medicine cat to look at it?" she asked shortly

Sunpaw shook her head, then paused. "I don't think so" she mewed, she looked down at it and gave her mentor a weak smile. "I think it might be twisted" she added. She sat down to give her injured paw some rest.

Darkheart looked even closer at the paw. "Maybe we should let the medicine cat check it out . . ." she said mostly to herself. "I dont want you doing anything now that your injured." Darkheart said *sigh* So much for training she thought in her head.

"Aw! I was having fun!" Sunpaw protested, she was enjoying her training a lot and didn't want it to come to such an abrupt end. Admittedly, Darkheart had a point and she shouldn't realy argue with her mentor. She flicked a ginger ear in apolagy and she too sighed. "Well... At least we wont be coming back empty-handed" she added weakly, gesturing to the dead bird she had caught with a nod of her head.

Darkheart looked at the dead bird by her apprentice. "Yes . . . i guess so . . ." She looked back at Sunpaw. She really didnt want to go, but Darkheart didnt want it to be in even MORE pain. "We can always train when you get better." she pointed out

Darkheart was thoughtful. "Very well, but when your leg starts hurting, let me know and we'll leave. And dont lie, because i will be able to tell if your in TO MUCH pain or not!" she warned "To you still want to hunt . . . or do something else?" she asked in a kinder voice

Sunpaw's ears pricked at her mentors reply and she sat down in thought for a moment. "We could do a little bit of fighting practice. What do you think?" she suggested, looking up. She was sure her paw wouldn't be too much of an issue. She stood up and felt a flash of pain from her paw. She winced but it quickly died down.
