Dewpelt panted as he spotted the large lake shining like a dark mist up ahead. he and wildflight's race was almost tied as they pelted towards their destination.
the lake shined with a darkness that didnt look dirty at all, but like a glowing black pelt of a night cat.
"wow u run fast!" he gasped as they came to a stop a little way off from the lake; any nearer the ground will become sticky like mud.

"You too" Wildflight purred. "So now what? We can't swim here though. The water...it's soo black. It's not safe is it?"

"let's see..." dewpelt took a few steps towards the lake, but came back when his paws sank into the sticky, black mud. "nope, guess not!" he grinned, shaking the goo off his paws, but splatering it everywhere, including on wildflight.
dewpelt tried to contain his laugh "sorry!"

Wildflight stood for a moment with shock. Then a mischievious idea came to her. "Mud fight" she yelled. Instantly, she ran took a few steps towards the lake. With one swift of a paw, some mud went on Dewpelt's pelt. "Sorry" she said with uncontrolled laughter.

"hey! i'll get u!" he growled playfully and started pawing pawfuls of mud into the air at wildflight. he ran around, dodging blows of mud flying around.
this was more fun than he has ever had!
dewpelt pounced onto wildflight before she had another chance to throw mud at him. "gotya!" he mewed as they actually landed in more sticky goo.

As Wildflight got up, mud was everywhere on her. "We'll see about that!" Then she started to chase after Dewpelt, but he was too far from her. She couldn't keep up the pace with Dewpelt anymore. Her paws were sticky, and she couldn't run with them. Suddenly, she had another idea. She layed on the ground, started to lick her paw and started to moan. "Owww......" she cried softly.

"are you hurt?" Dewpelt asked, padding to Wildflight as she moaned. "are you ok?" he was totally unaware that there may be a trick in store for him.

As Dewpelt got closer to her, she began to scramble up and spring on him. "You're it!" Then she ran off. After a few distance apart she stopped and turned back. "You're not mad at me are you?" she yelled curiously.

"nope!" Dewpelt laughed after standing there, stunned for a heartbeat with his eyes wide. ah well. He started running towards wildflight again, with mud flying everywhere as he did.
"wow this mud is getting sticky" he noticed when suddenly he started sliding deeper into it.
it was something like quicksand!
"woah!" in just a little while he was halfway into the goo, and he was no longer able to get out or even move his paws. "help!"

"You can't catch me" Wildflight yelled after noticing that Dewpelt had started running. Turning around after hearing Dewpelt's shout, she could she him sliding into the goo. She started to run towards him and she realized that he had sunk deeper into the goo.Wildflight started to panic. What should I do? She prayed silently, Starclan help me. Glancing around the wilderness, she saw a pile of broken branches under a tree. That should do. She quickly grab the branch with her jaw, and held it towards Dewpelt. "Dewpelt, here, hold onto this." As Dewpelt gripped onto the branch, Wildflight began to pull. Seeing that Dewpelt had safely landed, Wildflight began to sigh. "Thank Starclan, you're alive" she gasped. "What would I do, if you're...." she trailed off. Then she shook her head. "Nevermind, are you alright Dewpelt? Do you want to see Spottednose?"

Dewpelt lay there with her wet paws in front of him. He coughed up some mud then shook his head to clear it. "hey, thanks. i really could have died there without u here" he tried to purr but ended up in another coughing fit.
"no, i'm fine. think spottednose has enough to worry about with the whole clan." he grinned up at Wildflight even though his pelt was slimed with goo.

Wildflight sighed with relief. "I think you should find a place to get warm or else you'll catch a cold. By the way, what's with that grin?" she asked with a suspicious look.

"Um nothing." Dewpelt purred and blushed. "why? can't i be happy? i'm just happy i didnt DIE!" he purred with laughter.
"anyways, sure, i could use a warmer place than here!" Dewpelt shivered and shook his wet, dirty pelt. "so, where do u have in mind?"

Wildflight purred with laughter. "Hahaha, you know you are soo funny, you should be a cat clown." Glancing around, she saw a pile of leaves. "You want to cover yourself in that pile of leaves or head back to camp?"

"Thanks. I"ll take the leaves!" Dewpelt purred and looked at the sun. "even though camp sounds much more pleasant, the day's not over yet. why go back when it's not time to sleep?"
The sun was turning red as it slowly started setting from the wide blue sky.
The leaves rustled as Dewpelt squirmed around in it. "Hope this is not poison ivy!" he laughed while getting the mud off his pelt by turning onto his back and rolling back and forth in the leaves.

"Ok, if you say so." Wildflight couldn't resist to laugh. "You seriously should be a cat clown. You are soo funny. In fact, I don't think there's anybody in this world like you. You really have this special talent. I'm going to do that too then. There's mud on my pelt too" Then she rolled on the leaves beside Dewpelt.

Dewpelt laughed. "Thanks for the compliment!" he mewed, then prodded Wildflight with a paw. "u're fun too! i didnt have this much fun since i was a kit!"
he purred, then lay still beside Wildflight, their pelts just touching. he was watching the sunset, its bright light shining through the forest, making everything bright red and purple, even gold.
"it's so beautiful today. Hope tomorrow will be the same" he mewed softly.

Wildflight stopped rolling and looked up upon the sky. "It really is beautiful. Hey, we can come here tomorrow again to see this if you want."

"sure i guess. hey i have the dawn patrol tomorrow morning, u want to come?" Dewpelt asked, looking at Wildflight. "i know it'll be early but i'll be SO bored!" he smiled and purred, sitting up and shaking leaves from his fur.

"I don't think it'll be that bad. Besides, you're there to patrol not goof around. I guess I can come then, if you want me too. Are you warmed up already? What do you want to do now?" Then she stood up and shook off the leaves.
