The sun shone brightly in the sky, without a cloud in sight. the air was chilly and frost coated the ground. the sunlight didn't warm the light grey pelt that crouched beside the trickling creek.
Snowstep watched the moving water, her eyes without her usual energy. her fur was a little fluffed up from the cold, and her paws were numb because of the freezing ground. she didn't even notice as a fish swam past her. she made no attempt to hunt.
She's been staring at the creek since moonhigh. she couldn't sleep the night before, after running into Thawpelt and Sunset. she's been especially down when she saw the look of total disappointment from the tom. she just couldn't get that out of her mind...
Just then, Snowstep knew she didn't want this to go on. she had enough of being against Thawpelt all the time. she couldn't get the guilt ouf of her heart. she just wanted peace, for once, with him. but.... what could she do? he would never forgive her for all the horrible things she did to him...
She let out a sigh of depression, her eyes sad, and her tail limp on the frost-bidden ground.

Thawpelt padded slowly threw the cold snow. How paws trekked on, until he saw a she-cat in the distance. Snowstep. The tom just wanted to turn away, and race on off into the other direction....but....he didn't. Thawpelt continued on, until he was standing next to her, and gazed into the water two. "You missed a good one." The tom mewed softly, awaiting the biting comment that normally came when it comes to him pointing out something she was unable to do...or notice.
His dark blue eyes darted from fish to fish, as he too didn't take the time to snatch one out. Silence. That was what was happening so far. But that is, the only few heart-beats that had passed, seemed like a moon for some reason. Thawpelt drew his paw threw the snow before him, and formed a small circle. In doing so, some snow got shoved between the tom's soft pads, but it melted quickly. Thawpelt knew what he wanted to say, but he was too proud to say it.

Snowstep barely looked up when she felt Thawpelt's presence, and heard his soft voice breaking the cold silence when she was looking into the water. she couldn't respond. she didn't know how to face him. after all this time, all they were doing was fight. and for once, she didn't spit out a mean retort at him. this time, words didn't even form in her mind. all she felt was the guilt.
The light grey she-cat felt her heart beat steadily in her chest, but she still felt it quicken just by a little. the warmth from Thawpelt almost felt like it was radiating from his fur, melting down an icy barrier that had formed around her through out the moons.
Time seemed to drag on. she knew everything was her own fault. from beginning to now. there was nothing that went right between them, and everything that went wrong dragged down on her shoulders until it felt as if she couldn't breathe. the pride that had built up in her was hard to break, but Snowstep knew she had to do this.
"I'm sorry." Her voice was shaky, and barely a whisper. Her eyes were slightly wet but she didn't look up to Thawpelt. she was afraid of what he would think and say. She was afraid he would never forgive her. She was afraid that he wouldn't believe that she meant it. She was afraid that he hated her.

Right then and now, Thawpelt could have blown Snowstep off just like she would have, all the other times he had made a fool of himself just to tell her the same words she was saying to HIM, right now. That was the only thing Thawpelt thought about. Revenge. But, oddly enough, his heart was thinking something different, and formed three words that ment little if not thought about, yet so much to those who knew their meaning and deserved each one. With those words formed, before his mind could react, his heart spoke on its own; "Forgive and forget..." Thawpelt whispered to Snowstep, as he reached out a paw once more. It angled slightly to the she-cat, and was able to touch the point in which the ice of the river and ground met. The snow here was like ice itself.
Thawpelt bit the side of his tongue nervously, as he was ready for the she-cat to jump up and yowl with laughter about how he had been so easy to fool. If that was the case, that was it. Thawpelt was done for good. The tom would maybe leave and live with his sister, Sunset, and live the life of a rouge just to get away. The only thing that made Thawpelt do this once more, was the softness of her voice, and the ability to actually think of the words "I'm sorry".
The image of a young crying Thawpelt. He was known as Thawpaw then. Snowpaw standing before the apprentice, with two kits behind her. Their faces were twisted in slight grins, yet this moment was anything but a joyful moment. Thawpaw reached out a paw to the she-cat that had been harsh to her ever sense he was born and able to walk, but yet saw her now as a beautiful Starclanner, that was here to help. The paw was swatted aside, and the beautiful Starclanner turned out to be a harsh Demonclanner in a young she-cat's body. Thawpelt felt the fear of this moment once more, and inched his paw back to himself a bit, half afraid to have a claw be thrust into it. Something kept it before Snowstep though, even though his mind was screaming warnings and reasons to bring it back closer and away from harm.

Sunset peered out at her brother and gave a little purr. So she had been right! Maybe this wasn't the best time to intrude...

OOC: oh wow i LOVE that memory! =P SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!! and yet snowpaw was so evil. XP lol loved it! ^^ and sorry for taking so long to reply. i wanted to at the beginning of the week (really REALLY wanted to) but i didnt want to hurry it cause it was during class. it's too sweet to be hurried! but i might still have to cause mom's coming back soon...
IC: Snowstep closed her green-blue eyes after she apologized. she was so sure that Thawpelt wouldn't ever forgive her. she has done too much. so many horrible times... all those times she had rejected him. all those times she had hurt him, scarred him... even she wouldn't have forgiven herself.
she thought that this time it was HER that was going to be rejected when a silence dragged on. until she heard Thawpelt's soft words... "Forgive and forget..." at that moment, her heart seemed to light up. her eyes opened and looked up to him, full of hope and happiness. she couldn't even express how she felt then... that hope and gratefulness. and her heart almost skipped a beat when Thawpelt offered her a paw... the paw that she had once turned away from. her eyes strayed on that white paw for a couple heart beats, and then she looked up into Thawpelt's eyes. she could see how insecure he was... how he was afraid of being hurt again. she knew that it was all her fault... and to help him gain the security he had lost because of her, she knew what she had to do.
Snowstep smiled lightly to herself, slowly picked up her own paw. time seemed to freeze as she gently placed her paw on Thawpelt's out stretched one. although their paws were both cold from the snow, it looked like they were meant to be placed together.
both their paws were as white as the snow itself.

OOC: 0_0 . . . . . . . OMG OMG OMG!!!! That was soooooo touching!!! X'D May I just say, that a hint that was kind of in the flash back, was the two kits behind her when she knocked his paw away. It hinted that she was doing it to show off, and look cooler to the other kits and apprentices. But I guess the show, became real, for she started acting like that all the time near/to him. Gah....you beat me to the karma point, ilovewarriors! XD IC: Thawpelt froze. With Snowstep's cold paw on his own frozen one, even the cold felt warm. Though, in the back of his mind, he waited the claws to dig in.
As nothing happened, his body calmed. Everything seemed peaceful, and yet still frozen. There were no more fish splashing their tails on the surface, no more annoying bird calls as they warned each other of the danger of two cats. It was.....lovely. As the Skyclan tom glanced at Snowstep, he noticed how bright her green-blue eyes really were. Never had he been this close, nor wanted to. In fact, they seemed to shine in the smallest of light. His own eyes- knowing their history of getting darker during leaf-bare... -were possibly the same color blue as the deep depths of an ocean.
Finally, the two-leg door had opened, and his mind was not filled with gloom any more. Behind his mind's door, it was not filled with horrible bats, crows, and bare dark trees that seemed to cast their shadows into the image of claws, reaching out. In fact, it was clear, and had a warming sun. In the sun's brightness, he even thought he saw Sunset, Treestar, Forestfur, and Moonrise there. Their bodies parted, and Snowstep was behind them. What did all this mean? Thawpelt could only guess. He wondered if his mother, Moonrise was trying to tell him that after this moment, things would be better. His true mother was of Starclan, after all.
With this sudden burst of warmth, the Skyclan tom gave a smile, and felt the heat of tears, trying to push out. And after a what seemed like a long pause, Thawpelt thrust his head into Snowstep's flank. He knew this was not the best thing to do. They were not kin. They were not mates. Yet, it must have been the shock of the moment that did so. His mind wasn't yelling any more warnings.
For the first time, Thawpelt was able to cry for joy, and not for loss. OOC: Aw....you made Thawpelt cry! ^^ Not nearly as good as yours though! XP

OOC: aw that's so sweet. ^^ hm now what should we rp about? LOL!
IC: Snowstep's eyes widened with surprise when Thawpelt leaned his head against her flank. her heart beat faster when she felt him so close to her... it felt like as if the wall she had once built between them has been shattered. all the coldness was replaced by warmth. and not only that... she could feel heat rushing through her whole body as the tom pressed against her. she couldn't move, in fear that this could all be a dream, and they'll wake up to hard reality if she made it so.
Then she heard light crying coming from him. Snowstep blinked her bright green-blue eyes and turned a little closer to Thawpelt's ear. "Thawpelt?" she asked softly, feeling awkward for breaking the comforting silence.

IC: Thawpelt whipped his head back up and away, then stood up quickly. His eyes were closed, with tail and head held high. "What?" He asked, looking at her like nothing had happened. There seemed to be a hint of friendly laughter in his voice. His even deep, dark blue eyes blank, but suddenly brightened as he tackled her.
Everything seemed as it should. Snow flew as the to colided. They were as kits, and nothing had ever happened. Thawpelt felt young and care free. In fact, he felt happier then he had even when he was a kit. Maybe Moonrise was right. Life seemed better already, without the worry of biteing comments, or sudden anger. His mind was still quiet, yet laughing at the same time. It seemed so much had happened, in these few heart-beats.
OOC: Love your new siggy by the way! ^^ I'm to lazy to do something like that... <.<"

OOC: heh thanks. wow it took me SO LONG to reply to this. 0.o cause i dont really know what to say and allllll......... ah i'll just wing it. XP
IC: Snowstep was surprised by the sudden tackle from Thawpelt. she didn't realize the fun until the two collided in a mass of soft, fluffy snow that covered her light grey pelt in white. the coldness was forgotten by the warmth of Thawpelt's fur as the two rolled together in the snowy ground. they looked like they just fell from the sky along with the rest of the snowflakes. the pure joy and excitement shone in Snowstep's multicoloured eyes. she had never thought Thawpelt had such a fun side; or simply she regretted never giving him a chance to show her that.

OOC: Sorry it took so long to post here....I kept forgetting about it! " IC: Thawpelt chuckled as he rolled off of Snowstep. Kicking his legs as he got to his paws. "No more....we aren't kits anymore..." Thawpelt tried his hardest to put on a serious face, but his voice gave it away too much. He was having fun, and was only pulling Snowstep's fur with that comment.
His plan was simple....once Snowstep had let her guard down, he was going to smack some snow into her flank playfully. The plan was doomed to fail, for the playful twinkle in his dark blue eyes gave it away oh so clearly.

Snowstep purred with laughter and got up from her position. she shook her pelt from flakes of snow, and gave her fur a couple licks. her eyes shone with excitement as she caught sight of the twinkle in Thawpelt's eyes. "I bet a kit is more mature! Don't even think about it" she let out a light mrrw and shook little bits of snow from her paws onto the tom.

Thawpelt laughed, knowing his plan had been descovered. With a quick shake, he had made his fur puffed a bit, and flung snow on Snowstep proubly. "Life is too short to always be serious!" the tom purred playfully, before flicking a snowflake off of Snowstep's ears with the tip of his tail.

Snowstep was going to laugh about the snow Thawpelt flung onto her, until he drew his tail tip across her ear. she blinked, a little surprised at how careful he flickered the snowflake off her ear. she smiled to herself, then looked back up to the oddly striped tom with mischief in her glinting eyes. she quickly dabbed a sheathed paw on Thawpelt's shoulder, then hurried away. "tag, you're it!~" she laughed and bounded off. "can't catch me!" she called behind her shoulder.
Life really IS too short to always be serious. Maybe this is the time she can truly experience the kit-hood she had passed by.

Blinked with a bit of surprise at Snowstep as she called over her shoulder that he was it. With a playful grin, Thawpelt lowered to the hunter's stance, wiggled his rear, then tore off threw the snow. Flakes flew as the snow fluxed from shallow to deep as he raced on after Snowstep. "Lets see about that!" He called after her. When she made a sharp enough turn, the tom would kind of bounce off of a tree trunk, and turn that way instead flinging even more snow in a attempt to on the ground.
Just as Thawpelt was about to get close enough to Snowstep, the snow under his paws switched to ice, and the odd colored tom let out a yowl of surprise as his limbs flung out from under him, and claws scraching the slippery surface. His brown tabby tail puffed up straitened out above the ground in a attempt to keep balance. Within heartbeats, it was over. But by then, every hair was standing on end, making him look like a giant hairball. The Skyclan tom noticed slowly as his heart became calm once more, that his legs were out, forming a kind of a star shape if you counted his tail or head. Thawpelt felt the ice under him lightly touch his belly fur with each large breath.
With wide dark blue eyes, Thawpelt searched the snow for Snowstep. Half expection her to be laughing her head off by now.
