Smokepaw slowly made his way towards the place where he had run off without swimming, or even daring to go near the water. he had to today... or he would be letting his mentor down one too many times. he wanted to have some time to think though, so even though it was past dawn he took small steps with his head down, knowing the way by heart.

Honeydew was growing a little impatiet with smokepaw he had run off one too many times for her liking.She just coundn't understand such a great warrior like him be soo afraid of water.But then she thought every cat is different.She then saw smokepaw coming towards her she thought to herself this is going to be a fun training lesson!

With a depressing sigh, Smokepaw kept going, not noticing Honeydew. then suddenly he heard the rawr of water, which made him suddenly jump back with his fur fluffed up. he didn't know he was here already, and almost fell in!
with his eyes wide, he gave his pelt a couple of licks and saw Honeydew. "im here" he meowed, trying to sound like nothing happened.

honeydew was just laughing inside her head."okay let's try this again shall we?Now get in you don't have to jump just get in."this was very nerve racking to honeydew she thought she could teach him in one day not three.Because of this her mood changed.

Everytime Smokepaw saw the water, he got nervous, and this time he HAD to learn... so he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, and jumped off from the land. he felt himself go deeper and deeper because of his weight, and still holding his breath, he tried to move his legs until he felt he broke through the surface.
taking in breath after breath, Smokepaw finally opened his eyes and found himself above the water. i'm still alive! i did it!

Smokepaw grinned, and finally he was proud of himself. finally he did it.
then he felt a pain... (yup he's got a cramp from not stretching before swimming! XP)
he tried to call out, but it caught him too much by surprise. he suddenly wasn't able to move one of his legs, and he went under...

honeydew just saw him where did he go?He couldn't have run off.Then she saw bubbles.She yelled out to him "smokepaw!!!"she dived down and smokepaw wasn't that far down.she pulled him out of the water and onto the shore.he wasn't breathing.she then pounded on his cheast.

Smokepaw felt himself faint and go deeper and deeper before he was rescued by HOneydew.
coughing up a mouthful of water, the apprentice woke up, his mind still blurry and confused. where am i? he thought to himself and looked around, seeing his mentor. "thanks" he coughed and spat out the rest of the water that was in his mouth, and stood up, shaking his fur.
most will think that since he almost drowned that Smokepaw will be even more afraid of water, but on the contrast...
now all he wanted to do was conquer it.

"Are you okay!"she said in a loud voice.He shackely stood up and shoke off his fur."let's get back to camp and let the medicine cat look at you."she would have helped him but he stood up fine.she thought of want a strong apprentice he was.

Smokepaw nodded and, although all soaked to the bone, he didn't seem to have any problems except for feeling water everywhere. "im fine" he mumbled, then turned to watch the water again. "lesson's not over, is it?" there was a slight enthusiatic sound from him, which was rare.
