Twilightkit wobbled alongside the river, attempting to keep her balance above the rushing water. It was frightening, yet fun. She had much in mind for the day and planned to live out the best moments. She hoped Morningstep wouldn't catch her out and about like this. She knew there were hawks and foxes, and who knows, she may even slip into the river. Oh, but she didn't care. Danger is something she plays with.

Morningstep watched the kit from the undergrowth, a small, almost sad, smile on her maw. she stepped out, wading into the water behind the kit, then moving up to serve as a protection between the kit and the swifter waters near the river's middle.
"The water's nice today, isn't it?" she said softly, looking down at the kit knowingly. "You were smart to get down here. i'm sure the current is a much better-feeling bath than my tounge. not to mention i don't get as many furballs." she laughed softly.
other cats ould have scolded the kit. but Morningstep knew better. she had been adventurous too, and scolding didn't make a bit of difference. better to indulge upon it while you still could.

Twilightkit's small grey maw curved in a smile. She giggled.
"Hello, Mum."
She purred happily. She hopped on to her back, struggling to not fall over. As she began to gain balance, she wobbled up to her head and lay flat in between her ears.
"So what 'dya wanna do today??"
She questioned excitedly. She really would love to spend time with her mom, even if it was just a little time.

Morningstep lauged her soft, musical laugh, shifting her shoulders to give Twilightkit a better surface to climb. she felt the kit lay her little head between her ears, and Morningstep smiled. her nicked ear twitched, not in pain, but in a half-forgotten memory, which faded before she could catch it.
"Well, we've already scouted the river. any abandoned burrows you haven't checked out lately?" Morningstep asked happily, enjoying the weight of the kit. just small enough for the ride. it wouldn't always be like this, she reminded herself. which is why she enjoyed the moment so much.
"Or we could try your paw at catching a fish. I'd show you how." she babbled listlessly, contently happy.

Twilightpelt giggled. She hopped off her head and scrambled down her back on to the ground. She turned aroud to face her.
"I guess we can check out some burrows first..."
She mewed in an unsure way.
"... Then we can fish!"
She meowed excitedly.

Morningstep shook out her pelt, shivering slightly as the cool air met her wet fur.
"Sounds like a plan," she mewed with a smile. "So, where's the nearest old burrow?" she touched the kit on the nose. "Can your little sniffer find one?"

Twilightkit's ear twitched. She didn't know if she could smell a burrow. She wasn't even keen on the scent of foxes or badgers to scent one. She shook her head.
"Maybe you should. I don't know much smells."
She said disappointedly. She was alright with it. Maybe if Morningstep found a nice burrow, she could be able to get familiar with the scent.

Morningstep looked at the kit with a smile. "It's okay. It took me moons to learn the scents. I'm sure you'll catch on much faster than I did."
She lifted her nose, nodding to the wind. She'd scouted out a burrow earlier, one that seemed abandoned enough not to be dangerous for the kit. She made her way to it, keeping her pace at one that the kit wouldn't be running to keep up with her.
"Here we are." She said, pausing by a den. The scent was stale, but strong, as if the previous owner had spent a long time there, infusing the walls with their scent. It was a badger den, albeit an old one.
"You smell that? That's a badger smell. Usually it's stronger, but the badger that used to live here is long gone." she explained to the kit.
