Stub of a tail flicking impatiently, Glosspaw paced the camp in stretching-bounds, from the apprentice dens to the freshkill pile and back. A few warriors glowered at her irritably, but she ignored them--she wasn't doing any harm, was she--until she almost skidded into one poor apprentice carrying moss. Apruptly she decided that the far side of the camp was more interesting, and vacated the area in favor of scaling her favorite tree.
It was the tallest of its kind, though that wasn't saying much, and sturdy to boot--she adored climbing into its canopy and staring out over the whole Clan, just to prove she could. She'd scared many a warrior in the past with the enthusiasm with which she lunged and clawed at its bark, but it was really one of the elder apprentice's faults. As a kit, Glosspaw's trademark clumsiness had run her into that particular cat once too many times, and so he'd decided her tail was a source of amusement.
'Looks like a badger's bitten it off!' She remembered staring at him as he sneered, 'No wonder you're such a klutz. You'll drop faster than a dead squirrel if you ever try to climb a tree with that thing.'
The young she-cat grinned, and only dug her claws into age-worn scratch marks as she scaled to her favorite perch. The look on his face she'd shown him up had been priceless.

"Careful, i've seen one two many cats fall out of trees" Goldenpelt purred lazily from a branch slightly above hers. his eyes passed over her slowly, soaking in the apprentice's image. the blue-purple eyes paused momentarily on her tail, but his eyes showed no disgust or horrified curiosity, only a faint flash of memory before returning to normal.
the golden tabby stretched, dislodging a few leaves in the process. "i saw you pacing. are you expecting someone?"

Glosspaw blinked when the tree started talking to her, slightly surprised. It had never done that before... Oh.
"Oh, hello there!" The she-cat chirped, seeming to pay no heed to Goldenclaw's warning as she leaned back and tilted her head almost upside-down to beam up at him. She caught his searching look, but it didn't bother her much, and she shrugged.
"Oh, no one in particular. I was hoping Mossheart might be around so we could train, buuut... She's not." Her voice went from cheerful to deadpan, then brightened again with a new smile, her silvery-blue eyes glittering up at the older cat. "But it's okay. I was just looking for something to do, really..."

Silverpaw skidded excitedly out of the apprentice's den, and looked expectantly around camp, wondering who was about. A wide grin spread on her maw as she caught sight of another apprentice. She wasn't a new apprentice, but the silver tabby still had the air of a kit. Waving her long, fluffy tail about with anticipation- she was always looking forward to something- her white tipped paws carried her briskly to the base of the tall, gnarled tree with intimidating roots. "Hiya!" She exclaimed, rocking back and forth as she gazed up at the two cats. If she was interrupting a conversation- well, she never paid attention to that kind of thing. After latching her claws into the thick bark, she swiftly clambered up to a branch just below Glosspaw's.
"Haven't seen you guys around. What's your names?" Improper grammar of course, but again, she didn't care.

(OOC: i cannot believe i typed my cat's name wrong T.T it's really Goldenclaw... i feel stupid -.-)
"Goldenclaw," the tabby replied lazily, tail wrapping absently around his branch. The apprentice amused him, her bouncy and outgoing attitude made him smile, only slightly. how could these clan cats be so incredibly different from rouges? it must be the constant company a clan provided. maybe one day he would be as happy, but for now he was still adjusting.

OOC: Aw, don't worry about it. I've done things like that before too--my SkyClan warrior, Echostep, once went from being a tortie to a calico and back all in the same thread. XD
IC: Glosspaw's head swiveled around quick enough to make an owl green with envy, her eyes twinkling down at this new apprentice.
"Hellooo down there!" Trilled the silvery-gray she-cat, peering down at the newcomer, head down and rump waving in the air. "I'm Glosspaw!"

Goldenclaw tilted his head. again with the un-nessisary kindness and outgoingness. it must be a clan thing. or possibly an apprentice thing... how should he know?
he opened his jaws, willing something conversational to come out, but his mind came up blank. feeling clueless and hoping the others hadn't noticed his blunder, he waited for one of the others to continue.

Silverpaw giggled. "Goldenclaw, and Glosspaw. Got it. I'm Silverpaw." Her head was tilted at an uncanny level, so she decided to join the other apprentice on her branch. She made a well practiced jump to where the other apprentice sat, and her hindlegs only dangled for a moment before she was seated beside her. "Boy, it sure is cold up here. I guess the wind can reach us easily if we're above all those brambles." Even her thick pelt couldn't shield her from the chilly breeze that blew around them.

Goldenclaw thought a moment before hopping down to be at the same level as the two apprentices. chosing a branch nearly parallel to the one the other two were on. best not to test the strength of their branch.
"Yeah, its a very cold autumn. usually the warmth holds out a little longer." he chatted idly, making a great effort to be social and not get up and run out of camp into the wild that called to him.

"Nice to meet'cha!" Glosspaw chirped merrily, then glanced at Silverpaw with a curious tilt of her head. Huh, she supposed it was colder than usual... Wonder why she hadn't noticed before...
"It's a bit warmer closer to the trunk." The gray apprentice offered, blue eyes shining in the light of her smile, "The tree blocks the wind better, and there're a few little nooks to tuck into near the base of the branches."

forcing an attempt at a friendly smile, Goldenclaw moved closer to the trunk, more for the apprentice's sake than his own. he was used to the cold, and he had to be.
his blurple eyes growing distant, he remembered curling up in a snowbank one ruthless leaf-bare. if it hadn't been for Midnight, they both would have frozen to death.
something caught in his throat. poor, beautiful Midnight. if he tried, he could still remember the scent of her fur, the shivers it gave him when it brushed against his. why? why had the twolegs taken her? it should have been him. it should be Midnight here, in this camp, wathcing their kits play in the safety of the clan.
weakened by the ever-present grief, Goldenclaw leaned against the trunk for support and reassurance that his world wasn't falling apart around him. somehow, he forced his face to remain in a semi-interested expression as he wallowed in grief and self-pity.

"Oh yeah, That makes sense." Silverpaw scooted to the center of the tree, letting out a sigh of relief as the wind died down. "Much better." Her green eyes then fell upon Goldenclaw's sad ones. "Hey, you alright?" She inquired, frowning. The silver tabby apprentice had an uncanny talent for sensing other cat's feelings, and the warrior certainly wasn't at his best.

Goldenclaw blinked, draping a heavy curtain over his grief. he could grieve later, when he was alone.
"i'm fine. just... thinking. so, how are you guys doing in your training? you close to being warriors yet?"

Silverpaw's green eyes lost some of their shine. Well, I don't really have a mentor yet... she muttered. "But Sunstorm showed me how to hunt!" Her next words were brighter as she thought of the golden tabby, and the good times they had shared. A giggle escaped her as memories of catching fish in Greenleaf aroused in her mind.

Goldenclaw tilted his head. an apprentice without a mentor. curious. he considered offering to be her mentor, but then again, she had probably been in the clan longer than he had. he barely even knew which clan was which.
"hm. well, if you need someone to take you out hunting or teach you fighting basics, i'm free. but other than that, i probably know less than you about." he joked, smiling

Glosspaw blinked, mystified at the exchange between the two. She would have added her own two cents, but the conversation suddenly switched, and she sat back heavily on her haunches instead. Oi, mentors were a touchy topic in present days, weren't they?
"Ah, well, I'm close to becoming a warrior." Past ready... The silvery apprentice replied, cheerful smile never faltering. "Mossheart's been really busy lately though, so we haven't had the chance to train too much."
Suddenly, her ears pricked, and she tilted her head back at Goldenclaw curiously, smiling at his joke. "Oh, I'm sure you know tons more than us..."

Goldenclaw chuckled. "well, i could probably tell you the best twoleg nests to salvage a meal from, or what seemingly abandoned badger's dens to stay out of, but when it comes to clans, i'm clueless. my plan is to lie low and try not to do anything too bad untill i know the warrior code and where to stay so i don't get my ears clawed off." he joked.
but there was a small layer of truth to his joke. it still took him a second to recogize if a scent was friendly or forign. to him, they all smelled like clan cats. he had to really focus to pick out the distiguishing qualities of each clan.

Silverpaw nodded absently, watching the last few leaves drift lazily off of the tree."...Well, that's all important knowledge. The whole clan could benefit from learning that type of thing." she mused, putting out a paw to catch a dark red specimen and crushing it with her claws. For once, she didn't laugh or giggle at the joke, mainly because her mind was elsewhere. The subject of mentors had brought up something that Sunstorm had said a while ago...
"But I'm sure you'll love your mentor once you find out who they are. You'll have a lot of fun learning to become the great warrior you'll someday be. You'll make friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime, forged from the trials and adventures that bring many together."
A smile played at the corners of her mouth.

Goldenclaw smiled at the apprentice's far-off gaze, apparently lost in her own thoughts. this was another thing he loved about the clans. you could sit and think for a while without having your tail clawed off.
yawning, he leaned back on his haunches, stretching out his front legs. he looked up at the sky, which was covered in a blanket of white clouds, and thought for a moment.
"have you kids ever seen snow before?" he asked. the apprentices were less than four seasons old, or at least he thought they weren't.

Glosspaw frowned thoughtfully, following his gaze toward the sky. Vaguely, she remembered something, the color of clouds, drifting to the ground like tiny leaves just beyond blurry vision, but the memory was fuzzy and distant, barely a flicker.
"I might have seen some when I was really tiny." The silver she-cat replied thoughtfully, "But I'm not sure. I've never experienced it for myself, anyway... What's it like?"
