The Silver gleams in the sun

Sunstorm yawned. He had slept well, but he usually did, and like a rock too. He grinned as he thought that. He wondered what he looked like to his clanmates. Did he act like a big furry rock? He'd never know...unless he asked, and he had no plans to do that. Getting up, Sunstorm stretched stiff limbs, and suddently remembered that Silverpaw would be joining him today. That made him smile, her chatter was funny, and very entertaining to listen to. He wondered where she was now...and who she'd get as her mentor...

Silverpaw blinked open her eyes, and the morning light flooded through them. It was a new day. A fresh new forest waiting to be explored. Then she remembered! She had planned to meet Sunstorm today! With a happy bounce to her step, she trotted away from the other apprentices to the clearing in the middle of the camp. Sunstorm was getting up too. "Hey, Sunstorm!" She called happily, and broke into a gentle run to where he stood.

OOC- btw, I think her mentor's gonna be either Brightstone or Silversong- Not quite sure what's going on at the moment, though....

"Good morning Silverpaw! Are you awake?" He meowed, cutting off another yawn. Clouds had begun to mass across the blue sky, and the sun's rays were growing weaker. Sunstorm looked up and studied the clouds, wondering if it'd be just rain, or a thunderstorm. He hoped the later. The golden tom turned his attention back to the silvery apprentice. "So, are you ready for a day of fun today?" He grinned, feeling like an apprentice too. "I for one, never grow tired of exploring!"

"I've never been more awake!" Silverpaw purred, giving Sunstorm a friendly flick of her tail. Following the warrior's gaze towards the sky, she too wondered what kind of weather they would have today. She wouldn't mind some rain, it was always easier to be in the heat when it was raining. "But of course I am ready! where shall we begin?" She inquired playfully, her green eyes gleaming with excitement. "Perhaps by the Sun Tree?" There are lots of places to explore there!" She smiled, remembering the times when she was a kit, and snuck out of camp often, to play at the beautiful tree. "And if I remember correctly, that is where I found the huge den. I could show it to you f you like!" Silverpaw gave a little jump of anticipation- she couldn't wait to get out of camp!

Sunstorm laughed. "Do you ever get tired? Are you ever less bouncy than you are?" He meowed teasing the silvery apprentice as she flicked him with her fluffy tail. "Ooh, the suntree, that's a good place to start. I'd love to see this giant den you found. Was there something inside it?" He meowed, keeping a straight face. "Was there.... a monster??" He padded forward, but kept looking at Silverpaw. He gave her a serious look. "you know...Monsters are really common around here..."

"Hmm, have I ever been less bouncy than this? Not as I can remember!" The silver apprentice mewed, thoughtfully. "Of course there was a monster in that den! It was huge! But I fought it off. If we happen to meet one today, I'll protect you!" She said, a grin on her face. "C'mon, let's get out of here!" Silverpaw then pelted out of camp, not waiting to hear Sunstorm's reply. Today was to wonderful to be wasted in the camp. Her white tipped paws flew almost silently over the ground, as she went towards the Suntree.

Sunstorm grinned. "You fought it off? ohhh, I see, you chattered it to death!" He laughed and gently shouldered Silverpaw. "Hey wa-" he called as Silverpaw pelted out of camp, but he knew it was useless. She was gone, outta here. He shook his head. Boy oh boy, whoever mentored her would be getting a great apprentice who was eager to learn and had her own ideas, but they'd need to be able to keep up with her- she was entirely too energetic. He grinned. Who was he kidding? There was no such thing as too much energy! He laughed again, and took off after her, his long legs flying and his fur rippling slightly in the wind.

Silverpaw breathed in the fresh morning air as she pelted through the sunny forest. She skidded to a halt at the Suntree and sniffed, trying to scent the den she had found when she was a kit. I smelled of dead leaves, and had a faint trace of badger. Her small pink nose detected a faint trace of dead and slightly damp leaves, but she decided to wait for Sunstorm before she explored any further. Pacing around excitedly, she awaited her friend, her silver tabby pelt glimmering in the morning light.

Btw, when are the tribe coming back, do you think? It would be interesting if Tika came in on the scene...

(Thanks Silver! And I have no clue, that's up to Pik and Rosefeather, I think but yeah, that would be interesting and Tika and Silentkill aren't really gone, I just put that ^^; theyre still here.. I think?)

Sunstorm arrived a moment later, a streak of gold, like a ray of light, covering the distance quickly. "Silverpaw!" He meowed, panting lightly. "I let YOU win that time!" He mrrowed, teasing. He opened his jaws, breathing in the damp, leaf scented air. A beautiful morning, to be sure. He could sense Silverpaw's excitement and flicked his tail. "What are you so excited about this time Silverpaw?" He meowed with a grin, stray pieces of grass and leaves falling out of his fur. "Could it be...The monster hole?" His grin grew broader..

Silverpaw grinned mischievously at the golden warrior. "Honestly Sunstorm don't be such a bad sport! Losing is part of life!" She continued to sniff around the area. "Aah, you dare to speak of the fabled monster den! Come, young and foolish warrior, and I will show you it!" Silverpaw shook her silver fur out, extracting various twigs and making it puff up. Then she continued to sniff around, until she caught a faint trace of stale badger. She followed smell, padding softly through the fallen leaves, down a gentle slope. "Come, oh young and foolish one, follow me..." Silverpaw mewed in a croaking voice, surpressing a mrrow of laughter. She could just see the large bush that completely concealed the entrance to the den.

Sunstorm couldn't help but laugh. Hearing that old creaky voice come from Silverpaw, a young bright and sprightly apprentice was just too funny. He couldn't remember the last time he'd laughed this much...Other than when Usai'd been around.. His mood immediately sombered. She didn't make him laugh so much, it was just that she cheered him up somehow, without even meaning to. He managed to flash a grin at Silverpaw's next words, but it felt weak and shaky to him. Quietly, trying to push the thought of Usai from his mind for the moment, Sunstorm followed Silverpaw, down a gentle slope, and towards a large rising hill, dotted with bushes both on and arond it. "This it?" he asked, looking at the place...

Silverpaw glanced back at Sunstorm as he trotted down to where she stood. She again noticed a sad gleam in his eyes, but chose to ignore it. If Sunstorm wanted her to know what was wrong, he would tell her. "What? Oh no, this isn't the den, if that's what you're asking. Dens don't usually look like clearings at the bottoms of hills! But...." She padded over to a thick clump of gorse bushes and nosed some of the branches aside, revealing a small opening. "Taa-daa! This is." Again she looked at golden warrior, waiting for him to join her.

Sunstorm managed to look excited. It really wasn't fair to Silverpaw to put all his troubles on her or to take out his sadness on her. It wasn't her fault. No matter how hard he tried, though, it was hard to shove the image of Usai into the back of his mind. "ooh, how positively mysterrrious!" he meowed, attempting to be lighthearted. "Where, fair Silverpaw, does this go? Not to the bottom of the monster's stomach I hope!" He added....

(don't worry, he'll tell her, once tey get into the cave and they settle down a bit ^^)

Silverpaw let out a purr. She loved to make cats laugh, or even just smile. "Oh yes, this passage leads to the fabled Monster Den!!! All who enter hardly ever come out alive! Do you dare to proceed?" She beckoned him closer with her tall bushy tail. "It will be a dangerous journey. The tunnel is slippery!" With this, she turned on the spot and slid on all four paws into the dark depths of the tunnel.

Sunstorm waited a moment, took a deep breath to steady his emotions, and followed Silverpaw. He had to stoop down to avoid hitting his head on the top of the entrace, and even then his ears scraped along the solid rock. He winced and crouched lower, making his way after Silverpaw. The light drew dimmer as they proceeded and he could hear his and Silverpaw's breath echoing through the tunnel. He wondered what was on the otherside....

Silverpaw cautiously padded down the damp passage, being careful not to slip. A glow appeared from the end of the tunnel. "Almost there!" Silverpaw mewed excitedly. As she neared the light it brightened, revealing a huge den. The silver tabby glanced behind her and could just make out Sunstorm's crouched form behind her. "Ahh, now this is a benefit of being small!" She exclaimed, purring with amusement at the warrior's pose. She then broke into a trot and reached the dimly lit den. The light was coming from a small hole at the ceiling of the place. Several damp patches of moss scattered the den, and water dripped from the hole at the top. She settled herself on some moss, and waited for Sunstorm to join her.

Sunstorm managed to squeeze out of the tiny hole, and into the larger part of the den. He winced as the rocks cut into his fur, and he could see that he'd left several strands of golden fur behind. He glared at the rocks, but then grinned at Silverpaw, his troubles momentarily forgotten. "Yeah, the advantages of being small!" Sunstorm purred as he picked a dry clump of moss next to Silverpaw to lay down on. "ahhh, this feels so much better. I have room to move!" He stretched out his long legs, reveling in the smooth ripple of his muscles and the stretch. "So," he meowed after he'd finished. "Where is this monster of yours Silverpaw?" He teased, seeing nothing but a small rocky den filled with moss. Sure, it was pretty big...

Silverpaw grinned back at Sunstorm as the golden warrior squeezed into the den. "I expect the monster is out hunting. Perhaps for a fox of two..." She mewed, rolling over to look at the hole at the top of the cavern. "Looks like it's gonna rain up there!" The silver tabby said. Just then, a flash of blinding light came down from the stormy sky, illuminating the den for a split second, followed by a boom of thunder. Rain poured down. Luckily for the pair, the hole at the top was covered by thick undergrowth, so only some water leaked through. "I can predict the weather!" She exclaimed, purring with amusement.

Sunstorm laughed. "oooh, so that's how you beat the monster then, Silverpaw!" He mrrowed, his sides still shaking. "You predicted rain, and it gushed forth, drenching the dreaded beast! He was so frightened, he ran away, monstrous spiked tail between his legs like a beaten dog...Very clever Silverpaw, very clever!" He rolled onto his back, guffawing....

Silverpaw laughed along with her friend. "How did you guess? That's exactly how it happened!" Another boom of thunder crashed above them, and rain continued to pour down, splattering on the forest floor. "Besides the thunder it's quite peaceful, isn't it?" She mused, absorbed in thought.
