Cedarpaw padded around the camp, a little desperate to find Lakeripple. He'd wanted to ask her advice, ask her for some kind of help, because he didn't know what to do when it came to love! He turned as a sudden noise sounded behind him. It wasn't Lakeripple. He made a face, and continued to look for her...

Lakeripple stretched and came out from her spot near the big rock. She glanced over the camp, yawning. Eagletalon didn't seem to be around, but there was Cedarpaw. She padded lightly over to her son, easygoing and relaxed for once.
"Hello Cedarpaw, she mewed softly when she got close.

"Mom!" Cedarpaw meowed, relief spreading across his face as Lakeripple padded towards him. He could really use her advice now, he thought to himself. "Um can we...can we go somewhere where other cats won't...won't hear us?" he meowed blushing beet red. He hurriedly looked at his paws, feeling very embarrassed.....

Lakeripple blinked. She wanted to ask why, but then she saw how her son was blushing. Amusement prickled her fur. Cedarpaw had a crush, of course.
"Certainly, she mewed, heading toward her position by the rock. The deputy's spot. Most cats steered clear of this position of power. "May I ask who the lucky she-cat is?" she asked after making herself comfortable.

(sure! jump right in! ^^ Cedarpaw could always use advice from his parents, both of them! ^^)
Cedarpaw looked around uncomfortably, finding it suddenly hard to speak the pretty she-cat's name. "H-Her name is Emberpaw, she's a new apprentice." he meowed, his tail flicking self conciously. He found he couldn't meet his mother's eye. He felt so silly! But he had to know. "How..." he took a deep breath, and then looked directly at his mother, his eyes meeting hers. "How does one go about....telling the one you like that you.. that you like them?" He meowed, blushing again...

Lakeripple smiled. Ah yes, Emberpaw. She was a good young cat, and would straiten out Cedarpaw nicely. She nearly laughed at his question. How do you tell someone that you love them? It was an age old question...
"If you truly love them, it is as easy as breathing," she recalled. "Your father and I were best friends as apprentices, and we thought that was all. Everybody else saw that it was far beyond that, but neither of us realized our love until we were warriors. We went out one night and looked at the stars... and we just, told each other." Her tone suggested a 'that was that' sort of mood.

"I haven't know Emberpaw that long..." He admitted, "But....I really want to spend time with her, to be with her...It certainly feels like love.." He made a wry face. "Hollypaw was laughing at me earlier. And I don't know why....It sounded like she knew something I didn't." He meowed ruefully. "Should I just take it slow? Be friends with her first?" He asked, curling his silver tail around his paws.

Eagletalon approached Lakeripple and Cedarpaw. His son was wearing the help-me-I'm-lost-on-the-subject-of-she-cats face. "So who is she? What does she look like?" he meowed, sitting on the opposite side of his son that Lakeripple was on.

Lakeripple purred and stroked her mate's fur with her tail. "Our son is padding after Emberpaw like a kit to his mother," she laughed. "Cedarpaw, it depends on what she wants. You have to put the one you love before yourself, or it doesn't work."

Eagletalon chuckled at his son's reaction to him showing up. "Nope, I'm the ghost of Christmas past," he meowed jokingly. "Of course I'm your dad, who else would I be?" Eagletalon smiled. "That's true enough, she seems nice though. Good luck." Eagletalon gave his advice. Not really, but still...

"Well, that should be easy then." He meowed. "I'd put Emberpaw before me any day." He radiated honesty. "I want her to be happy, I even showed her my secret place, the one I found on my first day as an apprentice...Did I do it right?" He asked, suddenly anxious. "I know you're supposed to...treat her well, like she's a princess, right? And thanks dad." He chuckled in embarrassment. "Mom told me about how you feel in love..It sounds so perfect, like you were destined for each other. "

Lakeripple chuckled. "Treat her well, yes... Like a princess? Not necessarily. Princesses can't do much, they always have to rely on others to do things for them. We are warriors, not princesses. Even as a queen you have much more freedom than a 'princess'."

Lakeripple shook her head laughingly. "So many questions... Love is an instinct Cedarpaw. It just comes to you, naturally. It isn't something you think about..." She licked a paw and drew it over her ear. "If you think about it too much, then it gets more confusing, and that isn't the point."

"I guess you're right...I just didn't want to screw everything up." He gave Lakeripple a wry smile. "Thanks anyway mom. It did help a little." he meowed, his tension draining away. "This is one of life's experiences that you just have to learn on your own, without any mentoring, right?" He purred, slightly amused. "Speaking of mentors, I wonder where mine is." He got to his paws, and stretched. "Thanks again mom, dad."

Cedarpaw grinned. "Yeah. Are they joined at the hip?" Cedarpaw's mrrow of laughter faded as he padded away, his tail flicking in amusement. He'd not seen Smokeshadow for awhile, perhaps Pondshine had all of his attention? He wouldn't doubt it.
Crowpaw entered just as Cedarpaw left. "What's so funny?" he meowed, noticing his mother's grin. "And what was Cedarpaw just talking about?" He'd been listening in to the entire conversation. He grinned. He was sooo mischevious, it wasn't funny. So Cedarpaw liked Emberpaw? He giggled at the thought..

Lakeripple turned to her youngest son with a flick of her blue-gray ears. Her eyes suddenly narrowed. "Crowpaw, were you eavesdropping again?" She didn't doubt her, Crowpaw was a mischievous little devil. "Do you have no limits? Listening in on private conversations?"
