EMBERPAW Emberpaw turned quickly towards where she heard a rustling sound. Her eyes scanned the undergrowth, looking for any hint of Cedarpaw's light gray fur. |

Gotcha! Cedarpaw thought triumphantly. With that one glance away, he darted out of the bushes, dirt spraying in the air from the scrabble of his paws. He flew at Emberpaw, doing a rapid sucession of moves all at once. He swiped at Emberpaw's legs, jumped up and landed lightly on her back and tried to gently bite her neck, the killing blow...

EMBERPAW Emberpaw was caught completely off guard when her legs were swept completely from underneath her. Before she could even react, she felt gentle but firm weight on her back along with strong paws holding her down. Then she felt Cedarpaw's teeth lightly grazing her neck. She shut her eyes in dissapointment and defeat. |

Cedarpaw got off her back as quickly as he could- he didn't want to squish her anymore than he already had-he was alot bigger than her. "Great fight Emberpaw!" he meowed, eyes ablaze with excitement and enjoyment. "I haven't had such fun since I beat Crowpaw!"
Hollypaw snorted at his response. "But of course Hollypaw can out hunt me. She's sneaky like that." He purred. "Are you okay though? I didn't hurt you did i?" he asked, concerned...

EMBERPAW Emberpaw quickly jumped to her paws and faced Cedarpaw. Her dissapointment vanished when Cedarpaw mentioned how great of a fight he had. Thanks! She gave a warm purr towards him to show her appreciation, but stopped when he asked if he had hurt her. A flash of anger went through her. She hated when cats didn't think she could handle herself just because she was small. She was about to give an angry retort, but stopped when she seen how much concern was in his eyes. All of her anger completely vanished to be replaced with feelings of embaressment, and was that...pleasure? The skin underneath her fur heated up to an uncomfortable temperature. Emberpaw dropped her gaze quickly to the ground. Her ears flattened bashfully against her head, while her one white paw scoffed the ground in a shy manner. I'm fine. She mewed quietly. |

Cedarpaw looked relieved. "That's good then! Haha, thanks for battling with me, I loved it!" He purred, "You're a great fighter, do you know that? Who's your mentor? or are you one of the apprentices who doesn't have a mentor at the moment? Perhaps we could ambush one, or just do 'helping' sessions amongst ourselves, right Hollypaw?" When the black she cat nodded, he went on. "Hollypaw and I usually battle for an hour or so, but I think I'm finished for today! I know, why don't the three of us go on patrol, surely there's something to be said for exploring. Waterclan never gets old!"

EMBERPAW Emberpaw looked up at the sound of relief that was in Cedarpaw's voice. She was amazed at how much he could talk! Emberpaw thought that she wouldn't find another cat in the Clan who could match her energy, but Cedarpaw seemed pretty close. She happily answered all of his questions. Thanks! your seem to be a genius on the battle field too! She let out a purr, while giving the silver tom a warm blink. I don't have a mentor at the moment. But it would be really fun to ambush one! Emberpaw gave a little bounce of excitement when she said the las part. It would be really fun to go on a patrol! Which part of the territory should we go to first? Even though Hollypaw was around, Emberpaw couldn't help but to turn to Cedarpaw with shining eyes. Since he didn't seem as the other apprentices, she didn't mind being around him now. For some reason, she couldn't take her eyes off of the tom. She didn't trust him yet, but if he kept treating her the way he did, then she would probaly one day trust him as much as Hollypaw if not more. |

Cedarpaw looked abashed at Emberpaw's comment, and he ducked his head, smiling in embarrassment, yet pleased at the same time. He didn't know why, but...he needed to hear those things from her, just as he needed to tell her how wonderful she was. There were these strange new feelings in his heart, ones he'd never felt before..."Haha, okay, we can ambush Wolfstorm, or maybe Toxicfang! Or even Dad, though I don't know where he is at the moment. Hmmm.. what do you think Hollypaw?"
Hollypaw looked thoughtful. "I think the best place to start would be...The Lake of Waters!"
"It's really pretty there," Cedarpaw mused to himself, "But.. what about the Waterfall Cliffs?"
"Sounds good to me, I forgot about that." Hollypaw purred. Both cats turned to Emberpaw. "Would you rather see The lake of waters first? or the Waterfall cliffs?" The silvery tom asked, his heart beating faster as he gazed at Emberpaw...

EMBERPAW Emberpaw was about to reply, until her gaze got caught in Cedarpaw's and her breath got caught in her throat. She quickly shook herself out of her stupor. Emberpaw never felt like this before, she felt like she could completely trust the tom even though she barely knew him. She would have to go over these feelings and thoughts later on tonight when she went to sleep. Emberpaw quickly went back to her energetic self, and was bouncing from paw to paw now. Let's go to the Waterfall Cliffs! As soon as she was done speaking, Emberpaw shot off in the direction of the Waterfall Cliffs. |

Cedarpaw took off after her, his belly low to the ground and his legs flying. He grinned as the wind breezed over his short fur- this was what being alive felt like! The landscape rushed by in a blur; all he could see was Emberpaw's ginger fur in front of him, and the graceful way she ran. Everything about her was graceful, he realized with a blush, suddenly glad neither Hollypaw or Emberpaw could see it. He lengthened his stride and caught up with Emberpaw, a goofy grin on his face as the Waterfall came in sight..
Hollypaw groaned. Running was not her strength, not with short legs! She burst into a sprint, running as fast as she could. She lagged far behind the others ,but she didn't mind. She narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. There was something going on....Like.....like Cedarpaw and Emberpaw were noticing each other. Oh, not as apprentices, they'd already done that ,but as....Hollypaw shrugged. She'd find out from one or the other later- but she could still sense that a seed had been planted...

EMBERPAW Emberpaw noticed that Cedarpaw caught up with her. She noticed the goofy grin that he gave her, she couldn't help purring affectionately at him in return. Emberpaw almost halted dead in her tracks in shock. She never purred affectionately at any cat, not even Hollypaw! Emberpaw quickly fixed her eyes ahead to avoid his, glad that they were almost to the cliffs. |

Before long, the two cats, with Hollypaw still far behind, reached the cliffs. A large waterfall, the noise of it's falling thunderous, raced past them, glistening and sparkling in the sunset. A rainbow, cast in the spray of the falls, shone bright and happy, it's many colors creating a beautiful contrast against the misty white of the falls. Cedarpaw loved this spot- many Waterclan cats did- it embodied the power of the water they loved, yet brought with it beauty and elegance. Cedarpaw didn't stop running even as he approached the bank, where the land met the water. He leapt right in, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath to avoid getting water in undesirable places such as his nose.
Hollypaw arrived just in time to see Cedarpaw take a flying leap off the cliff. Good thing the falls wasn't high enough to kill a cat, just to squash them a bit under the weight of the running water. She loved the water- it was so cold and refreshing, something everycat needed. Why the other clans hated even stepping into the water was beyond her. She skidded to a stop.

EMBERPAW Emberpaw stopped and admired the way Cedarpaw swimmed. His muscles rippled as he paddled strongly throught the water. A cat took a sudden stop to her side. Emberpaw turned to see that it was Hollypaw, and for the first time remembered her friend's presence. She shot her friend a guilty look. Are you going to jump in? Emberpaw hoped that her friend wasn't mad at her for giving all of her attention to Cedarpaw. But in her defense, she couldn't help it. There was just something about the tom that demanded all of her attention. |

Cedarpaw paddled around in the lake water, his blue green eyes shining. "Are you two coming in? Haha, last one in the water's a furball!" He called from the bottom, his sleek silver fur a shade darker in the water. He suddenly disappeared under the surface, staying there for several long seconds. At last his head broke the surface, and in his jaws was a wriggling fish.
"Yeah, wanna jump in at the same time? If we're lucky, we can land on Cedarpaw," Hollypaw meowed, kidding around. She noticed the guilty look Emberpaw shot her, though her friend though she couldn't see it. "What are you feeling guilty about? That I run slow?" she purred, giving Emberpaw a warmhearted smile.

EMBERPAW Emberpaw turned back towards Cedarpaw. She admired the way he easily caught the fish. There seemed to be a lot of things she admired about the toms. For a hearbeat, Emberpaw felt slightly disturbed at that thought, but shook it off. Of course there's going to be a lot to admire about him. He's practically a warrior, he has been training for a really long time now. Even though Emberpaw told herself this, she knew that there were other things that she admired certain things about him, that the other apprentices didn't. Like how his eyes sparkled whenever he was happy and excited, or how his muscles rippled strongly but smoothly. She quickly shook off her thoughts again.What is wrong with me? Yeah we'll be down in a minute! Great catch by the way! She turned her attention back to Hollypaw. She thought about lieing and telling her friend yes, but in the end decided to tell her the truth. It just seems like I've been paying more attention to Cedarpaw than you. |

Cedarpaw purred, unable to thank her through his mouthful of fish. He paddled to the river's edge, and hurriedly buried the fish before bounding back into the water, the dirt on his paws floating away as if they'd never been there. "Okay then!" He called up...
Hollypaw grinned. "Yes, he's handsome, for a tom, I guess!" she purred. "Though I've never noticed. He'd never be anything but a really close friend to me." She purred, surprised that she'd been right in her thoughts. "You like him, then hmmm?" She asked, looking over the edge at Cedarpaw's patient face...

EMBERPAW Emberpaw was shocked! Surely that couldn't be why the strange feelings were running through her? She just couln't like him! Sure he was a handsome tom, and he's been nothing but kind, sweet, genorus, and nice.....stop it! But yes he's been nothing but nice so far. Besides, even if she did like him, or maybe one day even grow to love him, it's not like he would feel the same way. She was the 'misfit', or 'outcast' within the Clan. She shook her head vigorusly at her friend. Don't be rediculous Hollypaw! Of course I don't like him! I just met him! Even as Emberpaw said the last part, she knew that she was lieing to her-self. It felt like she knew the tom almost her whole life. |

Hollypaw laughed quietly. "Okay, suit yourself." she meowed knowingly. She gave Emberpaw a look at told her she didn't believe the lie, and then leapt over the edge of the falls, a black meteor hurtling towards a ocean blue. Hollypaw splashed through the churning water, emerging a few moments later.
"Ohhhh... Guess you're the lucky furball of the day!" Cedarpaw teased, smiling up at the ginger apprentice. "C'mon, the water's great! Tons of tasty fish here too. Okay... I'll catch you!" He mrrowed, still teasing. He swam over to the approximate place where Emberpaw would fall and stretched his two front paws upward, holding that pose for a few seconds before getting water in his mouth and spluttering.
(ummm Cedarpaw go splat? XD)

EMBERPAW Emberpaw had a feeling that her friend didn't believe her. To be hones, Emberpaw didn't believe herself. She watched as her friend dove into the water next to Cedarpaw. Emberpaw let out a small mrrow of laughter as Cedarpaw offered to catch her. Okay! Here I come! Emberpaw took a couple of steps back, then sprinted forwar and over the cliff. She was heading right for Cedarpaw, but she wasn't worried. She knew that he would be able to catch her because of her small size. |

Cedarpaw hurriedly threw his paws up again, just in time to catch Emberpaw. The force of her weight, small though it was, pushed him under for a bit, but he broke the surface of the water grinning. "See? I told you I'd catch you." He purred, looking her in the eyes, and getting caught by their mesmerizing beauty. He didn't want to move, but what would Emberpaw think? He turned away, and set her down in the water. "Haha, great leap." he purred, almost forgetting about Hollypaw.
Hollypaw watched with amusement. So, you don't like him, riiiiiiiight she thought with an amused purr. She paddled towards them.
