The deep light of twilight touched the horizon, slowly eating up the retreating sunset. The very last light of the sun cast the shadow of a slim gray she-cat. Prisms danced from her blue-green eyes, as she surveyed the camp from her post. Her belly was rounded over, and she glanced down frequently, tears sparkling on her cheeks. She licked her paw quietly to try and display calm. But her quivering frame rattled her image.
A small mew escaped from her, a mew of despair. She needed the feeling of his fur against hers, she needed to feel like she could fly. "Eagletalon, Eagletalon," she moaned, burying her face in her paws.
