The day was finally clear again, after so many moons of snow and ice. The sun was shining brightly, and the water of the creek reflected specks of light.
It was a beautiful day, but the face of one she-cat made the world seem grim.
Snowstep quietly waded into the creek, despite the chill that was still in the water. Her fur almost blended in with parts of the water. Her blue-green eyes were down-cast, and her ears weren't even pricked for the sound of prey. Her mind wasn't there with her body.
It was pretty obvious what was dragging her down like this: She hasn't seen Thawpelt in moons.
She blamed herself. It seemed like so long ago since she'd last saw him. And she thought everything went well, too. But... since that day, it seemed like he's been avoiding her. Purposely going on the patrols that she wasn't assigned to, and gone while she was sleeping only to find him sleeping when she went out to hunt. It was like he wanted nothing to do with her. It was like they were back to being far-apart rivals.
Snowstep's pelt shone with droplets. Well, at least her head, since her whole body was now in the water. Even her nose was barely above the creek, and her ears lay flat. Without looking hard, she would seem invisible.
She didn't know who or what she was waiting for. All she knew that she was all alone, and that she just wanted to fade away into nothingness.
OOC: my RP skills has gone way down since i didn't RP for so long >.< *dies* *waits for Thawy =D*

OOC: Daw, it okays! I used to post like, pages worth! Remember?
IC: A picture of melting snow, shifted and moved despite all logic. Silently if picked through the brambles. Tail flicking to reveal that the bird above was not insane upon seeing such a sight. Its call alarming any others listening of these paw steps of a cat. Glumly it traveled, fighting the bees that tormented its mind.
The cool water stared back strongly against those dark blue eyes watching its depths. Many of good fish passed. All plump from their lack of fear of a shortage of their food. Thawpelt had been avoiding one of the few cats that actually cared for him. Liked him back. All that they had been through, too! So much fighting...even claws and teeth were almost bared. All for what? This? A tom who didn't believe in himself enough to enforce such a bond that was forming?
Light splashing alerted the Skyclan warrior. Jumping from his mind, the odd colored tom ducked in the thawing tall grass and shrubs near the water's edge. A sunlit form stepped into the cold water. Shining in the glinting rays and flash of the water, it held Thawpelt's gaze with such beauty. Though, his stomach turned to water and froze when the glint faded, and Snowstep came from that Starclan-like shine...

OOC: LOL i can't stop staring at your siggie. xP whenever it changes a cat i can't help but stare and wonder who's next. x3
IC: A soft breeze blew, rippling the surface of the waters. Snowstep's ears pricked, her eyes suddenly focused. The breeze carried a scent of something familiar... Someone that made her alert and nervous and hopeful all at the same time. It was the scent of someone special to her.
At first, she thought it was just her imagination. But still she searched with her brightened eyes for him, for Thawpelt. Her eyes darted across the dense undergrowth and grass, and finally spotted an odd-coloured brown pelt. Although her heart leapt, she felt the anger rise up in her chest.
There were a million questions in her head: Why was he here now? Why did he avoid her for so long? Why hasn't he even spoken to her or seen her for the past couple of moons? Why was he leaving her all alone after making her fall for him? Of course, she couldn't ask that last question, but she wasn't about to let him get away with how he'd made her feel so lonely.
She was going to give him a scare. She closed her eyes and waded deeper into the water, until her even her head was totally submerged under water...

OOC: Ugh...sorry for the wait. >_<"
Thawpelt's eyes grew three moons in size as Snowstep stepped farther out until her head was under. Panicy, the Skyclan warrior tore out of the bushes and slammed through the water to where the she-cat last was. "Snowstep!? No! Snowstep! Don't you dare-...I'm such a big mess up!" Thawpelt yowled as he searched the chilling depths for the snowy warrior.
OOC: You waited all that time for such a sucky post like this? Dang...sorry... D8

OOC: oh wow Pik! where'd u get all your dps? they's always SO COOL! =D
IC: Snowstep watched from underwater as Thawpelt slammed into the water after her, his paws splashing around just above her heads. Too bad she couldn't hold her breath longer, or she would've liked to give him a longer scare, but she really needed air. All noise was muffled in her flattened ears as she used her strong legs to push herself back up.
Like an unexpected fish, she popped out of the water in a flash, right in front of Thawpelt. Her bright eyes were angry. "You got that right, you ARE a big mess-up," she meowed, her nose barely a whisker away from Thawpelt's.
OOC: sorry if she sounds mean, but she's sorta joking and just mad at the moment. You would be too if a guy u like avoids you for a few months. x3 jkjk

OOC: I understand her attitude! I would be snippy too. >x3
IC: Thawpelt flinched at the she-cat's words. She scared the soul out of him, and now was yelling! It was hard to explain everything though, and at first, he didn't think he would get a chance. Finally her frosty words stopped to create even colder silence. Her closeness only made him more uncomfortable before her. "I-..." a failed sentence. Though, possibly the best he could do.
Dropping his dark blue gaze to the water, Thawpelt focused on his leg strokes. How cold the water was. How the current of the river was flowing. ANYTHING to try and take him away from Snowstep. Thawpelt should be apologizing. He wanted to be, even! But, how could he? His words were lost under such a harsh and demanding gaze. It was like being pressured to save a cats life, when you had no idea what to do, and had claimed to be a Starclanner from above!
Almost impossible...
almost.
OOC: Sorry if I seem sorta off today in the RP department. Being at my dad's house seems to take away my creativity. =/

OOC: naw, it's ok Pik. ^^ *pats* if i was at my dad's place (hah, haven't been in YEARS), i wouldn't even GET internet. xP
IC: Snowstep's angry gaze was still on Thawpelt. She waited for him to say something, for him to apologize and explain to her why he was acting odd, but all she got was "I...", and then silence. There seemed to be no more sound around them except for the subtle sounds of water running past them.
"You what?" she grumbled, her eyes lingering on his downcast eyes for a while longer before looking away. She couldn't take this much longer. If he wasn't going to talk, then she was going to. Most of her anger died away, replaced by a kind of longing and lonliness.
"I just don't understand why you're avoiding me," she began, her voice barely above a whisper now. It was a sudden contrast from her angry voice just a second ago. "A second we were having a great time, and... and I thought I actually... felt something between us. But the next thing I know, I barely see you around at camp, and you were never on a single hunting or border patrol with me. It seems like all of a sudden, you wanted to forget that I existed...." Her voice faded away. She promised herself that she was strong enough not to let her tears show, but she wasn't strong enough to control the hurt in her eyes as she turned them back to the tom in front of her.

OOC: Yeah, I'm hopeing that I will only have to go once a month! *crosses fingers* x3
Slowly Thawpelt waded to the shore. With a quick flick of his tail in a attempt to get rid of some of the weighted moisture in his fur, the oddly colored tom turned to Snowstep. A bit more life in his dark eyes. "My family is nothing but trouble. For Starclan's sake, most of them are in different clans from eachother! If in clans at all!" Thawpelt added that last part as he remembered his sister, Sunset. "I...just...I felt that little something too. When I thought of how you could be tied up in all of my problems, I paniced. Foolishly thinking that if we kept apart, everything would stay normal..." Truely the tom didn't know what else to say. The truth seemed like a lie, and a lie could never sound like even a fraction of the truth!

Snowstep swam to the shore a little while after Thawpelt got out of the water. She didn't really know HOW she felt anymore, at that moment. All she knew was that she didn't want him to leave, and that there was this odd feeling inside of her.
"Foolish is right," she didn't even bother licking her wet fur dry, the water making her look a lot smaller than usual. "Tell me something, Thawpelt. Does this feel normal? Does it feel right to be always avoiding me, never looking me in the eyes?" The light grey tabby took a step towards the tom, her wet fur glistening in the sun. "Look me in the eyes and tell me that it feels right," she dared him, her eyes searchingly on his face.

Thawpelt shifted silently. Listening to everything Snowstep launched at him like a tree that knew its end. Though, the question made him flinch. He could feel her mixed eyes searching him. Slowly, Thawpelt lifted those dark blue eyes. Now intent on locking them with Snowstep's.
"It never felt right..."
OOC: BLARG! I keep makeing you wait for so long, and then I give such a short post! *sigh* >_<"

OOC: I forgive you. ^_^ I know how you might feel.
IC: Thawpelt's answer struck something inside of the light grey she-cat. Involuntarily, as his dark blue eyes finally met her own blue-green ones, she felt a long-held tear finally slide down her cheek. She usually hated to show such weakness to anyone. Her pride never let her. But right now, something felt more important to her than her pride. That tom that stood in front of her, who was too mouse-brained to even face her. That tom who she loved.
She finally let go, her tears silently dropping onto the soft grass. Her head was lowered towards the ground to not let Thawpelt see how much hurt she felt. "Then don't you ever leave me again," she choked out, her voice barely above a whisper.

OOC: Poor Snowstep D8
IC: Thawpelt watched the proud she-cat for a while. His dark blue eyes unable to fully understand the depth of her emotions, yet at the same time able to feel it stab at him through his own past. "I never will, Snowstep..." the tom purred like a true lover, leaning in to put his nose on her forehead. "I promise. Never again."
OOC: Short post alert. o_<"

OOC: meh, it's ok. short ending post alert to you this time. ;3 oh, and depression helps RPing sometimes. =P
IC: Thawpelt's touch sent a wave of heat through Snowstep, warming up her still-wet pelt. Even though she didn't say another word, she forgave him. Letting out a small sigh, she buried her face into his strong shoulder. At that moment, the past didn't matter anymore. The future did.
She just hoped that he would keep to his promise, whatever the cost.
OOC: ooo am I foreshadowing something? =O at least we finished this thread. =D <3 you have anything in mind for further RPing?

OOC: How about a bit of Pond and Smoke fun? Pondshine is a bit too unaware of how he feels, and that needs to change sooner or later! ;P
