Unbridled Energy (Open)

Deciding to wait for the others to catch up, Blizzardkit taunted "You'd think you two cant climb with how slow you're being!" Bizzardkit giggled quietly to herself. 'I can't wait until I'm an apprentice!'

"Oh yeah?" Glosspaw's grin reached from ear to ear, and a flicker of determination appeared in her eyes. "I'll show you slow!" Giving a mrrw! of laughter, the pretty she-cat lunged from a standstill, leaping over a wide gap and stretching her paws wide. Her claws caught bark, digging scratches into its surface, but she quickly swung and pulled herself up, not too far from Blizzardkit.

Fernfur looked at the two younger cats with a micheivious glint in her eyes. "Come on. I'll show you what a warrior can do!" she grinned. She braced herself, then launched her whole body up the tree and practically ran up the trunk, like a squirrel. She kept going untill she was just a leap away from the crooked branch that the two cats had been aiming for originally. She didn't know that, of course. "There." She stood precariously on the branch, balancing on the tips of her paws with her tail stretched out for extra balance. "Climbing and running are my main skills." she told the others proudly. "Of course, I'm not very strong, because of my size, although I could outwit a strong opponent in battle if he just relied on strength. I'm awful at swimming. I hate water. But I've always been able to climb. Where are we aiming for?" she asked.

Blizzardkit's eyes went wide as an owl's with awe. 'She has skill!' she thought, amazed. "You're really good! We were aiming at the branch your on right now!" With a final leap, Blizzardkit jumped and landed neatly next to Fernfur. "I really don't know what I'm good at yet, you're lucky!" Blizzardkit thought out loud. "Come on Glosspaw, the view up here is terrific! I can see the whole camp from here!And beyond the camp a ways, too." Taking a moment to take in the landscape, Blizzardkit thought 'One day I will see all of our territory, and know it like the back of my paw.'

After a day's worth of rest, Mossheart felt a sense of overwhelming joy in her that she hadn't felt for days. She felt more relieved than tensed and it was a relief that her senses were coming back to her. She needed them more than ever, especially now, when she had a training session to attend to. Her mind ran back to the face of GLosspaws' when their gaze had met occassionally. She could see Glosspaw's hope and expectancy arising every single time, but MOssheart had to flicker them off from her as she herself felt in no mood, especially with her grouchy attitude to burden on to Glosspaw.

Silently, Mossheart thanked StarClan for her quick recovery from her personal conflicts that she was holding for the last few days. Although the herbs had helped a lot, there was more to it than outter wounds. Now, she was able to start her training session with her apprentice. It seemed like it was ages since she had last trained an apprentice when she was appointed leader position and the memories of her past mentorship crept a smile on her. Filling overjoyed, Mossheart couldn't wait to start the training and quickly scanned through the wide clearing. Although cats of different sizes and colors were visible, she was positive that she was able to detect Glosspaw's pelt. But the sight of Glosspaw was no where to be seen; in the apprentice den, elder's den and her hopes began to drop.

Glosspaw laughed, not bothered at all by Fernfur's display of superior skill; she was too good-natured for something like that to bother her. Instead, the she-cat just grinned as she made her way up the tree in leaps and bounds, until she was staring out over the camp on a branch level to the two cats'. "Really?" The silver apprentice replied, "I love water, but I hardly get a chance to try swimming..."
Suddenly, a familiar flash of fur caught the young cat's eyes, and she turned her gaze downward. Her muzzle split into a smile, and she barely suppressed a squeal of delight. "Mossheart!" The LightningClan leader appeared to be looking for someone, and so, bouncing up and down so that her branch wobbled a bit, she called down to her mentor, "Mossheart! I'm up here!"

"Urgh." Fernfur shook herself. "Water...too scary." She looked down as the apprentice called to her mentor.

'Swimming....what's swimming?' Blizzardkit thought. 'Look, there's Glosspaw's mentor...' Turning towards Fernfur she asked "What's "swimming"?"

"Swimming? It's how cats go through deep water. They use their legs to push through the water dso that they move. I'm too scared of water, though." she shivered again. "Ew."

"Oh!" Blizzardkit said. 'That sounds kind of fun....' Thought Blizzardkit 'Though I think I'd be too scared to try it.' "I can't say I blame you." Blizzardkit announced. Jumping down one branch then the next, Blizzardkit landed on the ground. 'What should I do now?' she thought, looking up to see if Fernfur was following her down or not.

Fernfur divebombed off her high perch, and landed lightly on the tips of her paws, beside Blizzardkit. "Hello." she giggled. Hmm...that wasn't very fernfur-ish. She didn't giggle often...

"Hello, crazy cat." Blizzardkit laughed. Prodding Fernfur with her paw she asked "What do you want to do now?" She asked, the continued "Unless you have to go do border patrol or something of course...." Blizzardkit trailed off, wondering what it was like to be a warrior.

"Um...I don't really have anything to do. I guess we should leave Glosspaw and Mossheart alone...as mentor and apprentice." she paused. "But, really, I haven't got a clue what we should do." she sighed. "It would be more fun if Coalheart were here." she murmured, half to herself.

Blizzardkit nodded absentmindedly she asked "Who's Coalheart, Fernfur?" Her mind wasn't really on the subject, she was day dreaming in her own little world.

"Coalheart...he's my mate." There; she'd said it. He was her mate! Her whole body sighed with satisfaction at the words, and then began to tingle at the memory of his tender touches, his words, the overpoweringly strong emotions that radiated off him. Such powerful emotions...some that made Fernfur hurt to feel, others that made her want to ywl out loud in joy and adoration. "Everything seems better and more fun when he's around...or that might just be me, I suppose." she explained. "But I think I'm probably more fun when he's about, if you know what I mean. Being with him makes me happier."

Blizzardkit could tell from the tone of Fernfurs voice she was truly in love with Coalheart. "Its good that he makes you happy." Pausing she added "It wouldn't make sense for you two to be mates if he didn't" Laughing a bit at her own small joke. "You're plenty of fun to play with right now it looks like." Blizzardkit mused "Unless you have major mood swings.....and I don't think you do." 'But I can still see how she'd be more fun with her mate around. I wonder how much of a difference it would be?' Blizzardkit thought.

"Ohh...I do have mood swings. But I'm happy today, because I've been thinking lots about Coalheart." she explained. "Actually...it's been a long time since I've properly spoken to any cat like this. Except Coalheart...fun, games...even just talking to other cats...was a terrifying thought. But Coalheart...changed all that. And now...well, I'm talking to you!"

'She certainly is full of surprises.' Blizzardkit thought. "Wow, thats a big change!" Blizzardkit said in awe. Picking a stray pile of moss off the ground and giving batting at it before it was carried away in the wind she thought ' I wonder if I'm going to do anything important while I'm an apprentice...'

Her head jerked around as she heard her a muffled shout. Who was that? Or rather, what was it that was making the noise? She looked around her surroundings pankingly, slightly praying to Starclan that it wasn't some secret attack from a different clan. Even though the camp was well secured and with the amount of warriors in Lightningclan, there was still always the opportunity, especially a cat with too much greed and power in mind. The sight of other cats completely focused with their own duties, made her feel a bit relieved. So there wasn't a surprise attack, but who was calling then? Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the color pelt that she was looking for high up on the tree. THere were two other cats there but she couldn't tell whom it was. Padding towards the tree, she focused her eyes onto GLlosspaw and her body began to tense. Get down, get down she muttered under her breath. Her padding suddenly turned to a quick trot and she was finally under the tree. "Get down here GLosspaw." She growled. "Based on a scrawny tree like that, a cat can NEVER assume that he or she can safely stand on a branch. And you're even jumping around for Starclan's sake!"

Fernfur glared at Mossheart. "It's not like she didn't have a warrior with her." she said to the other cat. "I was supervising, and they were both doing fine. They weren't going to fall!" And all of us were having fun... she thought. Who was this cat to ruin the most fun she'd have in moons? Then she realised...she was actually arguing! "I-I'm sorry. Y-you're the mentor..." she stuttered, embarrassed and horrified at what she'd done. What would Mossheart think of her now? An insolent, argumentative younger warrior. She looked down. Why did she have to do this with everyone?
She sighed quietly to herself. That wasn't true...but being with Coalheart aparently hadn't changed her self-esteem levels as much as she'd initially thought. She still doubted herself.
