This way. That way. Across the clearing. In front of the elders den. Back to where she started. Back to the elders den again, then to the nursery entrance, to the freshkill pile, bowling over warriors and apprentices alike. Finally, when everyone in the immediate vicinity was glaring daggers at her, Glosspaw sighed and skidded to a stop. The pretty silver she-cat watched the dust rise from her paws, drifting in the breeze until it settled and disappeared back onto the ground.
Bored. She was very, very bored.
Glosspaw had to clamp her jaws shut in order to keep herself from yelling it out loud and bothering the cats who already looked like they wanted to kill her.
Where was Mossheart? She had hardly started her training.
Where were Lightpaw and Scarpaw, her two closest friends? Out learning to fight? Hunting? Exploring? Glosspaw almost keened with longing. The young cat's face was puckered in a pout, and she wiggled with unbridled energy as she tried to stay still. She needed to do something, anything to relieve this awful boredom that intruded upon her perpetual cloud of happiness and zest...

Glosspaw jumped, grinned, and then whirled around, glad to finally have someone to talk to.
"I'm really bored!" She cried loudly, startling several nearby cats. Her stumpy tail wiggled wildly. If it had been normal length, it would have been whipping in agitation. "Mossheart's not around and I've barely started my apprentice training and I want to go exploring and..." After a while of ranting, she had to stop to take a breath. Panting, the silver-gray she-cat flopped on her side, groaning. "I just need something to do!"

" Well, we could always...hm." Blizzardkit looked at the clearing around her trying to improvise. "We could try to see who could climb the highest!" Blizzardkit announced. "See that tree over there? We could climb it!" Pointing with her tail to the tree, Blizzardkit started to bounce up and down with exitement.

Glosspaw's eyes lit up. "Alright!" She chattered excitedly, though she was looking at the kit as much as the tree. "But not too high--maybe to that crooked branch and back? I don't want Mossheart to have to drag me down if I get stuck!" The she-cat laughed, but the thought was for another reason as well. Perhaps she didn't act her age all of the time, but she did have some sense.

Blizzardkit stared at the tree in terror. 'What was I thinking?' She thought to her self. 'How could I have been so stupid?' She looked at the branch Glosspaw had pointed out. 'Thats not so high...' Blizzarkit swallowed. "Y-you go first Glosspaw." She stuttered.

Glosspaw smiled at Blizzardkit, but decided not to mention what she'd said about a race. The poor younger cat looked terrified. "Okay!" She said cheerily, and turned to bound over to its trunk. Coiling her muscular legs, the apprentice took aim and leaped up to the lowest branch, curling her claws firmly beneath the bark. Glosspaw stood there for a moment, perfectly balanced, despite her lack of a tail.
"See?" Called the she-cat, "It's not so bad." Glancing up, Glosspaw gauged the distance of the next branch and jumped again, landing gently.

Seeing Glosspaw climbing up the tree easily helped Blizzardkit's tension a little. 'It doesn't look so hard or terrible....it looks kind of fun actually.' she mused to her self.

Glosspaw grinned down at Blizzardkit, adjusting her grip so that she could sit on the branch without falling over. "C'mon!" She chirped encouragingly, "Just coil your legs and jump!"

"Allright." she awnsered trying to be brave. Blizzard kit jumped onto the first branch, teetering for a few secounds before gaining her balance. Blizzardkit quickly jumped onto the next branch. 'This is fun!' she thought happily. ' I don't know why I was so scared before!'

"Atta girl!" Glosspaw encouraged, a bright smile on her face. Slyly, the silver she-cat turned, crouched, and sprang into the air, narrowly catching a branch with her forepaws and hauling herself up. This limb was skinnier, but she kept her balance and only laughed, beaming.

" Oh, so now you think you're a hot shot, eh?" Blizzardkit said laughing, and quickly bounded up three branches more, almost missing one. 'That was close.' She thought. 'I have to be more careful next time!'

"Well, I don't like to brag, but..." Glosspaw grinned and jumped again. When she landed, it was on another skinny branch, and she teetered back a forth precariously as she constantly adjusted her grip. "I'm not too bad at being a squirrel!"

"Yeah, your name should be Squirrelpaw instead of Glosspaw!" She announced cheerfuly. Jumping to another branch, she noticed the crooked branch was only a few branches away. "We're almost there!" Blizzardkit said eargerly.

((heh heh...fernfur shall now make an appearance! seeing as it's open...hope you don't mind...))
Fernfur dandered about the camp, thinking. About Coalheart. Obviously. She shivered in delight. But...now that she was calm, she didn't need clamed down through a hunting session, and Coalheart wasn't here to hunt with her, so there was no reason to hunt. And she wasn't on patrol. So...for the first time in moons, she was really, really bored. But that was okay, because it gave her time to think about Coalheart. She looked at the sky, but saw a tree instead. A tree with an apprentice and a kit in it. How odd. "Um...what are you doing?" she asked curiously. Hey! She had spoken to another cat. Two cats! Without feeling nervous! Without stuttering! Without even thinking! Wow. Was this the result of spending time with Coalheart?

Fernfur considered a moment. But then, as she was a good climber, and still a young cat, and also she wanted to practise her new found socialising skills she gave in. "Okay." she launched up the tree, using branches as footholds, scrambling round and round like a squirrel, untill she was pretty much level with the other two. "There. Now you won't get told off if some grumpy old elder comes along. If anyone asks, it's training." she smiled. Imagine if Coalheart could see this! she thought to herself. She was smiling freely with others, talking to them, playing with them. And it was as easy as breathing. Well, almost.

Thrilled with her play mates, Blizzardkit said "It's just as good as training!" There. Now she was haveing fun, and helping her clan. She quickly bounded up two more branches untill the crooked branch was only one branch ahead of her. "Come on guys, we're almost there!" She said exitedly.

Fernfur gingerly shifted her weight so that she was in the right positon to leap up again. She balanced carefully, then pulled herself up with ease. "Yup! I think so!" She really wished Coalheart were here. It would be more fun with him. Not that it wasn't already fun. "Come on, Glosspaw!" she miaowed to the apprentice.
