Training[Painpaw and Wolfstorm]

Painpaw watched the shimmery water staring at a single fish watching it swim around in circles near him. His dark silver eyes watched the silvery and gold fish getting closer. When it seemed close enough Painpaw darted his paw scooping it up into the air and jumped to catch it before it landed in the water again. He spat it onto the ground hating the scales grinding against his teeth. Painpaw looked at his mentor How was that Wolfstorm?

"Excellent, Painpaw!" Wolfstorm meowed, a pleased expression on her face. "You've improved tremendously in the last few days." She smiled, watching her apprentice with his catch. "Hm. How confident are you in your hunting abilities, Painpaw?" She meowed..

Painpaw blinked, A little, but I slip up a lot.. he said looking away. He could only hunt if he was concentrate and nobody was bothering him, if something even the slightest thing caught his attention, Painpaw's technique became sloppy, Why?

"That's okay, what I have in mind will help you improve." Wolfstorm meowed with a wave of her tail. "I'm going to set you loose, and you can go anywhere on the territory and hunt as much prey as you can until I stop you, alright?" She meowed, planning on following him to watch his technique..

Painpaw glared, I know you are going to be watching.. it was already obvious after moons and moons of warriors watching their apprentices and testing them. He sighed and walked away going into a foresty area. He sniffed the air bairly, but it was enough. He smelled a small thrush a couple feet away but trees encased it making it difficult to go through. Painpaw weaved around the trees, Good thing I'm thin... he thought to himself untill he reached the area where he smelled thrusht the most. He looked around, I don't see anything.. until a pile of "leaves" moved. Painpaw's gaze immediatly fell on it. The thrush matched the color of the leaves perfectly but it's hoping gave away it's position. Painpaw settled in a crouch which made his joints tight. Painpaw blinked uncomfortable and loosened it keeping his tail a little bit above the ground, Please don't have Wolfstorm watching me... knowing that she probably was. Painpaw stepped forward slightly towards the thrush which peeked a glance at him. Painpaw stopped and then before it could take off he jumped after it almost missing it. His claws snagged into the feathers unfomortably. Painpaw glared biting the thrush killing it trying to get his paws untangled, Mouse dung!!

Wolfstorm silently hid in a nearby bush, watching Painpaw as he stalked the bird. With practice, as this was designed to do, he'd improve. Most apprentices messed up many times during hunting- she knew she had! She continued to watch..

(lol she can't say anything to him she's hidden' lol)

Painpaw shook his paw madly. It was very uncomfortable. He growled some blood spraying. He set his paw down trying to unattach the thrush Great out of all the times... Painpaw mumbled. After a while the thrush was removed Painpaw stared at it I feel sorry for the cat who gets it he muttered. The thrush was torn up and all bloody. Painpaw sighed and put it somewhere so he could gather it later and continued on.

Wolfstorm followed quietly, willing Painpaw to calm down- you couldn't perform your best when jumpy and frustrated. Take a deep breath, Painpaw She thought, storing that fact for later to tell him so that she could help him improve his skills...

*an hour or so later*
Painpaw sat under a tree, the bloody thrush, a squirrel and two mice before him. He glared at the all. On every single on of them he made a stupid mistake, and Wolfstorm had been watching.

Right now. Painpaw quit.

Wolfstorm winced as she saw the rebellion and annoyance in her apprentice's eyes. So hunting wasn't really his thing, some cats were better warriors. She decided to end this before Painpaw went back to camp, with a glower on his face that could kill a cat. She stepped out of the bushes. "Well, you did try, Painpaw. That's all I ask. Why don't you bury the prey; we'll retrieve them later. Alright, you up for battle training then? Perhaps you can take out all that frustration I see out in a physical challenge.."

Painpaw growled, Bury it?! It's ripped to shreds. Like anyone wants to eat something already bloody. Painpaw turned away furiously, he got so easily annoyed with Wolfstorm and her kindness, There goes you're streak of being kind. he thought to himself.

[wolfwarrior4jesus]

"It's okay Painpaw," she meowed soothingly. "It's not uncommon. You're an apprentice for Starclan's sake, you're just learning, so of course this is to be expected. I'll eat it, if that will help. I don't mind at all; prey's prey. It's hard Painpaw, but you'll get it soon enough. These skills aren't learned in one or two lessons." She added. "So it's nothing to be ashamed of; it's just something we have to work on."

Painpaw quivered with frustration, he couldn't take this kindness anymore!! Might as well jump off a cliff. he mumbled. The idea sparked his mind, Wolfstorm DID show him that waterfall...

(oh no, not again! (is speaking of when on faith, painpaw tried to kill himself, and summersun rescued him)

"I should hope not!" Wolfstorm meowed. "Why would you say such a thing?" she meowed, a little sharply. She didn't want anything to happen to him. She never thought she'd be thinking this but.... he had kinda grown on her. She cared for him. "What do you want to do Painpaw? Taking the easy way out does not solve your problems. In makes them worse. Trust me on that." she supressed a sigh. He was back to his emo self- she'd thought he was acting better, more interested before and now his old self was back... "What do you want to do then, Painpaw?"

Painpaw ruffled his fur. He was still annoyed and Wolfstorm had gone down a notch for being annoying.. Painpaw sighed, I don't know. You are the mentor right? he slightly snapped. Apprentices don't give orders. Geez..

Wolfstorm looked levelly at him. "Yes, but I like to hear of what you'd like to do. I wouldn't be a very fun mentor if all I did was order cats about now would I? You deserve to choose what you'd like to do once in awhile." She meowed, ignoring his hostile look.

Painpaw glared I. Don't. Care.

Wolfstorm almost groaned aloud. Instead she coughed slightly and got to her paws. "Well then, we will do battle training. You have to focus Painpaw. I know you're frustrated, that's why I was trying to see what you'd like to do, usually the things you like to do are relaxing. Anyways, come this way. I want to find a good place for battle training.."

Painpaw nodded and began to follow Wolfstorm I need to calm myself more.. he thought.

Wolfstorm supressed a sigh and looked around, searching for a nice, obstacle clear place to begin battle training in more depth. They'd move onto harder places later; here there was nothing a cat could trip on or hide behind, so she could judge his style of battle and teach him moves that would complement his style of fighting... "We're here," She said at last. "Okay. First. I'm sure you know the simple pawstrike moves. Do you know the places where you can inflict the most damage without killing another cat? and where the kill strikes are located?" She meowed...
