"but..." Hollypaw meowed, confused. Shademoon had been happy one moment and then depressed the next. It was obvious she was reliving a memory.. But... what memory could have been triggered by Rivertail's fall? Hollypaw sighed silently. She wished she knew why Shademoon acted so melancholy. It hurt to see a friend, (yes, she realized, Shademoon and Rivertail had become friends! She was shocked at how fast it had happened, but, happy at the same time) suffering....
(that's okay, thats her character... what happened to her though? Hollypaw will try to find out..
And really? that's awesome!!! I've always wanted to learn, but been too busy... bleah.. )

((well, basically she's just remembering stuff from when she was in fireclan...read her bio, then it might make more sense...))
"Okay, um...well, I'm going to have to teach you my way, I'm afraid...not Shademoon's way. My way is more using your own physical aspects to your advantage." he paused. "Basically, speed, strength, agility, that kind of thing...so, what would you say your strengths were?" he asked, smiling. H ejust had to put on a smile, just untill the session was over. Inside he was burning with anxiety over his sister.
Shademoon stared at her brother and Hollypaw without really seeing. This pain...was too much for her to bear. She didn't want to be like this any longer...she just wanted...to...to...her thoughts suddenly trailed into another. Did she really want that? Did she want...to die? It was a scary thought, that she was able to beleive she wanted something as...drastic as that. It was almost uncomfortable..."No." she breathed to herself. "No." she couldn't do that to Rivertail...no.

(Duh, I should have done that before! *whacks self* lol)
Hollypaw met Rivertail's eyes and then cast a concerned glance at where Shademoon sat, lost in her thoughts. Inwardly, she sighed, and then turned her focus back on her training. "I'm not really sure... Not that fast though, on account of my short legs." She grimaced. "That's what I keep losing to Cedarpaw in races. And I definitely can't overpower you." She meowed.

"Hmmm...okay then, let's work on some kind of strikes." he thought deeply. "Copy me." He lashed out, but slowly, so that the younger cat could see what he was doing. He flicked out with his paw. "Of course, in battle you would have your claws out."
Drifting...drifting...drifting. Far, far away.

Hollypaw copied Rivertail's move, sitting back a few paces away so that she could try the move full speed.. However, she kept shooting worried glances at Shademoon, and messed up several times...

"Hey. Slow down a little. Relax." he leaned in closer to Rivertail, "She'll be fine. Don't worry. She's just not been feeling great recently, but she'll be okay." His words her confident, firm, but he couldn't help but feel he was trying to convince himself as well..."Now, try again." He reached out with his paw and struck her gently. "Just relax."
Shademoon sighed. She was beginning to come back now. Rivertail wasn't a gvery good mentor. She would have to focus on waking up, so that she could intervene...hmmmm...perhaps that was what she needed. Something...to look fowards to. Like Hollypaw. A cat...that she could help, instead of a cat tht was trying and failing to help her.

She was almost ready...she was coming back...she was...she was..."I'm okay! I'm back." she called out forcing herself up. "Right, out of the way mousebrain. I'll show you how to train properly." she said, making her voice sound as good-natured as possible. For no, she woulc pretend. For now she could just comfort the other cats around her, make sure they didn't suffer for her sake through worry. "Okay, what has the mousebrain been teaching you while I zoned out?" her voice was a little strained with the effort of being cheerful, the effort of holding in her agony, but she kept trying to keep her eyes bright, her face...plastic.
Rivertail sighed in releif. She was back. Her eyes were still a little dull, but that was probably because of her last spell of depression...but he knew she would...collapse again when they got back to camp. Like that other time...it even hurt him thinking about it. The way she begged him to...to...kill her. But, he told himself, she's okay right now. Focus on that. And suddenly he was reassured.

Hollypaw brightened as Shademoon took over her training, though she knew that something was still wrong. She pushed the feeling aside- for now. "He's been teaching me this move with my paw," she mrrowed, demonstrating the move..

"Huh. That won't get you very far in battle...that one's strictly conditional. It's mostly good for confusing cats...I expected him to teach you something a little stronger...oh well." she shrugged. She leaned in a little closer, "Secretly, he wants to be deputy but he's going to have to be a better mentor than that..." she smiled a little. Smiling was good. It felt better than being completely expressionless. It hid her emotions rather well. "Okay...you're quite small at the moment, so I think you might find the leap-and-hold move quite useful. It's the best way for say...a group of apprentices to defeat a big, strong warrior. Basically, you jump onto your opponents back and grip with your claws. Then you're in the perfect position to do what you like." she flicked her tail at Rivertail, who was lurking in the background. "Come here Rivertail. I want to show Hollypaw how to do leap-and-hold." she told him.
"Ugh...on me, I suppose. Okay." He readied himself for his sister's jump.
Shademoon crouched for a second, then leaped. She flew gracefully throught the air, the sunlight shining through the leaves making silver patterns on her fur for the brief moment she was aloft, and then she landed squarely on her brother's back. She pretended to bite the back of his neck, then rolled off him. "Make sure you get off quickly, otherwise they'll counter your move by rolling onto their backs and squashing you." she stabilised her weight evenly on all four of her paws, digging her claws into the ground. "Try it on me. Don't worry about hurting me." she said, bracing herself.

Hollypaw smiled as Rivertail complained about being the guinea pig for Shademoon's attack. Shademoon and Rivertail were very comical together. Maybe Shademoon felt better? The thought of that made her relax, and she nodded, listening to Shademoon's teaching.
Hollypaw judged the distances and took a brief run, vaulting herself over Shademoon's head. Time seemed to slow, and Hollypaw could see that she would land facing the wrong way if she didn't do something. She turned her body, twisting so that she focused on the back of Shademoon's head, and with the seeming speeding up of time, landed lightly on Shademoon's back, paws spread wide and joints bent to lessen the force of impact. She moved to "bite" SHademoon's neck...
(if that's okay, I'd like that to be her signature attack, since she's neither really strong or really fast)

Hollypaw nodded, excited. Now this was a move she could do well, she thought, one that would help her overcome her stronger opponents if she ever got into a battle. She leapt over Shademoon's head and twirled around to land towards her head, giving a small "bite" and rolling off before Shademoon could react and squash her.

"Wow. That's perfect! Now, I'll teach you a couple of countermoves...and then I think we can finish up and go and meet the others." she smiled. "The countermoves are quite easy. When a cat jumps on your back you just roll over and crush them, or play dead. If you go limp and pretend you are defeated, then they'll relax a little, lean in for the finishing bite, and you jump up. They won't expect it and should get thrown off. Do you understand those two?"

Hollypaw nodded. That sounded like it would be easy! "I wonder what Cedarpaw's been up to," She commented, grinning. "Knowing him, he's probably chattering Ripplestream's ears off."

Shademoon laughed. That was strained too, the sound of her laughter, but not too hard to make. "Well...let's go and find them. Come on, then." she turned to catch her brother's gaze. "Come on, Rivertail."
Rivertail stood up and pressed himself to his sister automatically, winding his tail around hers. "Lets go." he said, and they set off.

Hollypaw walked with a swing in her step. She was so excited and couldn't wait to tell Cedarpaw all that she'd be taught! He'd be sooo envious, she thought, grinning. Unable to restrain her happiness, the black apprentice, her silver belly spots standing out amongst her night sky pelt, bounded forward, tripping over tree roots and smiling up at the two warriors who walked next to her..
