Bird hissed and tried to pull River away from Maple.
"I'm River," River said jumping away from his mother's protective barrior. "Mommy is a little defensive." He looked slightly sheepish.

Sunset frowned and flicked Bird's ear with her tail warningly. "There are five, three mine, and two Bird's. They won't be kits much longer, however."

Jet puffed up his chest proudly at his mother's words, but he remained silent, his dark eyes ever-watching. Was he happy that he would soon be able to leave the den, and explore the territory as a To-be? Yes, definitely; he just wasn't a bouncing bundle of nerves like some kits.

ooc: Bird doesn't hate Maple. She'll lighten up eventually. She just doesn't like change. Imagine this: Bird and Nike love each other and had a litter of kits, but when they first met Bird almost fought and killed him.
